They didn't delve too deep into this topic. Anping had a good sense of Le Zhengen's attitude, and after exchanging a few words, they resumed their stroll around Skysea City.
Zang Xin and Zhuo Shi were both formidable men. Having decided to go back to Shrek City and inquire with Leng Yaozhu, they wasted no time in returning to their destination.
The reason they had chosen to look for Le Zhengen first, instead of Leng Yaozhu who was already in Shrek City, was mainly because Le Zhengen had only known Anping and Gu Yuena for a short while.
They assumed that Le Zhengen's relationship with Anping and Gu Yuena was not as close as Leng Yaozhu's. After all, Leng Yaozhu was their master, and they had been acquainted for many years. They feared that Leng Yaozhu would shield Anping and Gu Yuena out of loyalty.
Moreover, neither the Tang Sect nor Shrek Academy had a good rapport with the Spirit Pagoda ever since the Qiangu Family took over its control. It was fair to say that they were at odds with each other.
Le Zhengen was different. He had no ties to Anping and Gu Yuena. Furthermore, he had a positive reputation in the entire federation. They believed that as long as they exposed the harm that Anping and Gu Yuena posed to human society, Le Zhengen would surely reveal their whereabouts if he knew them.
What they didn't anticipate was that Le Zhengen would be so evasive. When they brought up the danger caused by Anping and Gu Yuena, Le Zhengen claimed that they had done nothing harmful to humanity except for leaving the Star Dou Forest.
At that point, they realized that Le Zhengen might have some vested interest in Anping and Gu Yuena, so just as he had guessed, they instructed the Tang Sect members in the Southern Army to keep a close eye on Le Zhengen's movements on their way back to Shrek City.
Upon arriving at Shrek City, Zang Xin and Zhuo Shi didn't bother to rest and headed straight to the Spirit Pagoda headquarters. Once they reached the Spirit Pagoda, they revealed their identities and requested to see Leng Yaozhu.
When the staff of the Spirit Pagoda learned the identities of Zang Xin and Zhuo Shi, they didn't hesitate to contact Leng Yaozhu. After all, apart from being members of the Tang Sect and Shrek Academy, these two were also among the top soul masters in the world.
Leng Yaozhu knew that Zang Xin and Zhuo Shi had come to see her because of Anping and Gu Yuena. However, she still had to play along, so she ordered the staff to bring them to his office.
When they entered Leng Yaozhu's office, she put down the documents she was holding and said, "What brings Amorous Douluo and Scarlet Dragon Douluo to my Spirit Pagoda? Is everything alright with the Tang Sect and Shrek Academy?"
Zhuo Shi and Zang Xin both frowned when they heard same Le Zhengen's words echoed by Leng Yaozhu. They still had questions to ask, though.
Zhuo Shi cut to the chase and said, "We're here to ask Heavenly Phoenix Douluo to tell us where Anping and Gu Yuena are."
Leng Yaozhu raised her eyebrows and said, "Why do you want to know the whereabouts of my two apprentices? I don't recall them having any conflict with your Tang Sect or Shrek Academy, do you?"
Since they were in Shrek City, Zhuo Shi was not intimidated by Leng Yaozhu and said coldly, "Don't tell me you don't know that Gu Yuena is a soul beast in disguise. It sounds like Heavenly Phoenix Douluo is ready to protect them, isn't she?"
Leng Yaozhu snapped, "So what if she's a soul beast? Is there a federal law that forbids soul beasts from transforming? Or a rule that prevents them from taking apprentices?"
She glanced at Zhuo Shi and Zang Xin and said, "If my memory serves me right, Xiao Wu, one of your first generation Shrek's Seven Monsters, was also a soul beast, wasn't she?"
Zhuo Shi had a fiery temper and said sternly, "How dare you compare Gu Yuena with our ancestor, Soft Bone Douluo! Besides, our ancestor never did anything to harm anyone!"
The first generation of Shrek's Seven Monsters was the pride of their Shrek Academy. How could Leng Yaozhu insult them in such troubled times? He immediately retorted.
Leng Yaozhu shook her head slightly and said, "What exactly did my two apprentices do to offend you? You want me to reveal their locations based on your unfounded accusations. Do you have any evidence? Or any federal authorization?"
Of course, they didn't have the evidence or the federal approval that Leng Yaozhu asked for, but they wouldn't give up so easily. Zang Xin shook his head slightly and said, "We may not have what you ask for, but it's a fact that they broke into the secret realm of our Tang Sect in the Star Luo Empire and extracted the bloodline of our Tang Sect member, Tang Wulin. That's the act of an dark soul master."
"If he hadn't escaped, he would have died in their hands. That's not all. They used some unknown method to make our secret realm vanish. Not only that, our Tang Sect members who went to investigate also lost their precious lives because of them."
Hearing what Zang Xin said, Leng Yaozhu realized that even if what he said was not entirely true, it was probably close enough. She feared that Anping and Gu Yuena had really made enemies of the Tang Sect.
Leng Yaozhu shook her head slightly and said, "Regardless of whether my two apprentices did such a thing, it happened in the Star Luo Empire. What's the point of looking for me?"
Then she looked at Zhuo Shi and said, "Zang Xin is looking for me because of the Tang Sect. Why is Scarlet Dragon Douluo looking for my two apprentices? Are you under the Tang Sect's influence?"
Hearing what Leng Yaozhu said, Zhuo Shi knew it was futile to mention his disciple and grandson. After all, Zang Xin had already brought up that matter.
Zhuo Shi said in a cold voice, "The one whose bloodline was extracted is my disciple, but that's not the main reason why we came here. The main reason is the problem of the Star Dou Forest. Under the control of the tower, you must know about the disappearance of the Star Dou Forest!"
Leng Yaozhu, as the deputy tower master of the Spirit Pagoda, was well aware of the disappearance of the Star Dou Forest. The document she had been reading before was about that very issue.
But she still said, "So what? Even if Nana is a soul beast in disguise, Anping is a real human. Do you really think my two apprentices could move such a vast Star Dou Forest?"
Zang Xin was at a loss for words. He couldn't reveal the secret of the Ice and Fire Eyes, especially not to the Spirit Pagoda.
He thought for a moment and said, "Let's put aside the problems of Anping and Gu Yuena for now. The soul beasts signed a contract with the Federation. The contract states that the soul beasts are not allowed to leave the Star Dou Forest and enter the human world."
"But we discovered that Di Tian, Mr. Xiong, Bi Ji, and Zi Ji all left the Star Dou Forest, and they appeared next to Anping and Gu Yuena. No one knows what their scheme was in coming to the human world. So if Heavenly Phoenix Douluo knows where Anping and Gu Yuena are, please tell us. Everything we do is for the safety of the human world."
"And if you think about it, your Spirit Pagoda is the main cause of the soul beasts' plight. Now that the soul beasts are free and seeking revenge, your Spirit Pagoda is in the most danger. Anping and Gu Yuena regard you as their teacher. After joining the Spirit Pagoda, who knows if they have a hidden agenda?"
