The Debut

"Are you ready?" Marlène asked her children for what felt like the thousandth time today. She couldn't help it, really, all her kids were old enough to debut into the pure blood society today.

They had tried to get Eden and Daphne to go to parties in the past but they had both promptly refused their mother's wishes and said that Astoria would be lonely if they all went. And she have had a hunch that they just disliked big groups of people ever since Daphne's birthday when they only choose to socialize with Amelia Bones niece Susan out of all the pure blood children there.

Her children could be extremely stubborn something that she did not know where they got it from, maybe their father? But he was anything but stubborn. Anyways they always stuck together which she was proud of since that's what their family needed with her husband always working and going away on "business trips"-

Her thoughts were interrupted by her youngest, "Yes Mother, you do know that I'm already five years old, right?", she could not hide the small smile of amusement that her daughter put on her face. Astoria had recently turned five years old and this had put Eden and Daphne on the defensive since they no longer could hold the lonely sister card against their parents to avoid the variety of balls and parties they tried to drag them to.

This resulted into them all having to do their official debut together tonight at a ball that Marlène was hosting. A lot of important people and families were invited to the Greengrass manor including the children of the families in hope that her children would befriend them and expand their social circle in preparation for their school life in Hogwarts.

"Yes I know but I need you all to be on your best behavior today,", she said as she gave her two daughters a look while Eden shared a look with Daphne.

"Of course Mother, when are we not", Daphne turned her head and answered their mother with an innocent smile. Right after she said it they could hear the guests arriving through the flo.

The first family to arrive was the Notts, Lord Nott and his son Theodore Nott. This was a surprise since the Notts have had the unfortunate luck to have met the Greengrass siblings before.

The last time Theodore had met the Greengrass family he had came home with miscolored hair and burns from a magical nettle that Astoria had lured him into in their backyard after he had talked down to Daphne. The wounds had taken a week to heal even if they were counted as a minor injury, the plants the Greengrass family grew could not be taken lightly as they were the peak of their species flooded with wild magic that only professionals could handle.

As the pair stepped out of the fire place in the hallway they greeted the Lady of the house with calm faces, well one of them, the other one was trying to shy away behind his father from the beasts infront of him. Theodore could apparently hold a grudge against a then-3-year-old-now-5. As the siblings greeted the family with their near perfected 'pure blood masks' they noticed Theodore's reaction and slowly their masks cracked and their faces morphed to take on slight smiles.

Daphne and Astoria looked at each other and gave each other a smile that said 'this might actually be fun'. At this Theodore could feel a shiver down his spine and Eden let out a sigh because of his sisters' antics.
