Chapter 24 - Expectations and disappointments

"Bye bye bwather Saki!" Waving their goodbyes, the little girl and her mother have started heading home while wearing a smile on their faces.

Uwaa~ I can't get enough of her cuteness.

Good grief, I think I want to have a little sister now. But nah, that would be very impossible. I guess I'll just be hoping that maybe someday I'll get to have a daughter of my own, kukuku~ I can't wait for my baby princess to cling on me and say 'Papa!' with her adorable and gorgeous little face, a-he-he-he.

Whoa, I can't stop drooling over of this imagination of mine.

Although the concept of having a little sister and a daughter is pretty much slightly different, but as a big brother, or maybe as a good and responsible father in the future, I would definitely shower her with full of my love, guidance, and understanding, unlike any other people out there. Pfuuu~

But considering aside my current situation, and my current self, having a family would be out of reach. I longed dreamed to have a family of my own, but it is just impossible to imagine it with what I have become. I want to fix and heal myself first before having one, but I'm not really sure if I could do it along my way. If I wouldn't be able to change myself in the future, then I would rather not have one than to repeat history itself.

Meanwhile, the celebration was still on-going and the fireworks show has already ended not a while ago. A few people had left the area but the majority stayed and continued with their parties and gatherings. Since there was nothing else left to do in my side, I started going back to my placw with a satisfied face of what I had gone through during the fireworks show.

When I arrived at my board place, I then head to my room to take enough rest to cover up for the hours I've spent overnight, and as for later starting sunrise, it would be another vacant whole day.

*TOOOGS* *TOOOGS* *TOOOGS* *TOOOGS*

"Grrrrr."

Bothered by the loud disco beats, I woke up around 8 with a tired face.

Good grief~ In this age of mine, I really can't stand being awake past 12 midnight. It is likely that I'm used to sleep early even though I'm being bombarded with lots of overtime homework during the late nights. It is because for me, sleep is life! Hehe.

With my bed hair on, I rose once again for another passive day, unable to go to neither work nor do my work-out routines. Despite that it was already morning, the streets were filled with people that were drinking, chatting, and having their own kinds of fun. Moreover, there were lesser vehicles present in the streets in which made it weirdly peaceful because of the unusual vibe it gives compared with to the usual crowded scene.

Meanwhile, I was walking at the side of the road in trying to find some vendors to buy something to fill my growling stomach. After having to find one and finish my meal, I then resume my walk.

"Am I just going to walk off this entire day?"

Thinking carefully, with the additional money I had earned from Nang Inday, I thought to spend a little of it to kill some time. I plan to waste my time on my usual hangout at the internet café. As soon as I arrived and have gotten inside, the place was already full of people that were occupying every unit of personal computer. There were even a lot of people behind the occupying customers that were watching their games.

"Eh? I didn't expect this. I guess I'm not the only one spending the day alone--- or these holidays maybe?"

Without even checking further inside, I head outside to find another shop.

"G7? I haven't tried this place out yet."

As I found one, directly I went inside the internet café that was new to me.

"Excuse me, how much for an hour here?" Approaching the café attendant, I asked to him.

"That would be 15 peso an hour sir"

"Eh? The cost here is 3 peso higher than my usual hangout." I mumbled. "Okay, do you have any vacancy?"

"Units 18 to 26 are vacant. Just choose wherever you like and kindly turn on the unit."

"Right. I'll just go for an open time."

Until it was sunset, I spent the entire the day wasting my time by playing games, though I did enjoy what I was doing.

When I was done, I took a walk around and along my way, I stopped by at a store to buy some biscuits and have sat down on a cemented seat attached to it. While eating my snack, I was overhearing a talk of a mother and a boy inside their house over at the opposite side.

"Momma, why isn't papa celebrating the Christmas with us? He also wasn't even here when the fireworks started at midnight."

"Papa is at his friends' house. There is a party over there so papa went over."

"But I want papa to be here, and we also have our own food that we prepared."

While the boy was likely feeling down with a bit of tears dripping from his eyes, the mother was struck in silence, probably not knowing of what to reply to his son.

Shortly after finishing my biscuit, I started walking back to my board house.

I took a wash and changed my clothes after arriving at my board room. I then went to bed even though it was still early for the night.

"Thank heavens, work resumes tomorrow. I'm sick of being idle and passive."

While trying to fall asleep, I instantly remember the boy back at the place which had really bothered me.

As I was thinking something related to it, my mind was lightened at ease and my consciousness faded away.

-----*-----

"Maaa! What are we making today?"

"We'll be making spaghetti." The woman, or rather my mother, showed me her gentle smile as we were full of excitement about our cooking.

"Yeeey! Ma, put some cheese all over it okay?"

"No! That won't do! Your father and I need to avoid too much sweets like that."

"Awwww." Upon my mother's disapproval of my suggestion, I showed a disappointed face with a pouting cheek.

"Just put it on your own plate whenever you want to eat spaghetti, okay?"

"Aha! Hehehe, okay Ma!"

During the entire afternoon, we were focused in cooking and preparing food for Christmas with only hours left in preparation.

After we finished cooking all of the foods, we started displaying and organizing them on top of the table to make our Christmas celebration presentable.

"Ma, papa's work should have ended already yet he still isn't home. I really can't wait for him to get home and take a look at all of these foods, hehehe." I said with a giggle.

"Mama is the same." Smiling down to me, my mother was brushing off my hair with her bare hand.

As soon as the preparations were done, there was nothing else left to do but to wait for my father to arrive here at home. I was restless yet also was excited at the same time while sitting at the living room.

After becoming more restless in waiting, I repeatedly went back and forth outside of our balcony to take a peek at the road, trying to see if my father is in sight nearing to the house.

Yet after an hour, my father hasn't still come home. I turned on the T.V. to kill more time and had found a kid's channel that caught my interest. Because of my attention focused on the show, I was too overwhelmed that it had caused me to somehow temporarily forget about my father.

When the show had ended, I turned off the T.V, and without noticing at first, it was already 11:50 late at night as I looked at the clock. Immediately, I remembered of what I was supposed to do.

Quickly I went outside the balcony again and had taken a peek at the road, but it was empty with not a single person that was outside.

Quite disappointed of it, I slowly went back inside the living room.

Looking for my mother, I found her at their bedroom and was already lying on the bed, sleeping peacefully, yet her face was somewhat showing a sad impression for some reason. Probably it's because my father isn't here with us despite of the time nearly ticking at 12. I guess we're on the same roof.

*SWOOOOOOOOOSSH*

*BOOOOOOOM!*

I heard loud noises rising up to the sky.

While I was busy emoting, the fireworks have already started and there were horns being loudly blown coming from the neighbours. Christmas songs were also being played on loud volumes and the people were likely outside of their houses, looking at the beautiful colours up above.

From the inside, I went rushing out to look at the scenario as well.

"I feel sad for my Christmas this year. But the New Year celebration is still there. I will make it worth it!"

As I declared in not giving up, I went back inside to get some food to eat and have gone back again outside to enjoy the sky that was filled with colourful lights exploding.
