Chapter 66

Siana laid awake. She shouldn’t be awake, Naerin was very good at what he did and she should be exhausted and asleep. Had she just massacred their friendship with her selfish request? She just hadn’t wanted to think for a while and Naerin was sweet and kind and hadn’t turned away at her scars or her stories and just for a moment she wanted to feel like she was loved. He’d kissed her scars, all of them, even the knotted purple one that ran down her left leg. He’d made her feel seen and cared for and she was terrified of the whole thing. Siana had never been loved like that, never been taken to those heights so slowly or with so much care. Now here she was, lying next to the man that had been so good to her holding back terrified tears.

He rolled to hold her, looking down at her in the darkness. “Are you still awake, Siana? Do you wish to talk about it?”

“Did I ruin this?” She managed to choke the words out. “Did I ruin us?”
