Chapter 38

She was out on the porch in the cool air when Naerin swanned up out of the rain. Swanned was the wrong word, but he did have a self-assured way of moving that drew the eye. It was the walk of someone that knew precisely what they could do and how to do it. Siana envied him slightly, she had no idea how to do what she was supposed to be able to do. At least it was something different to think about rather than her current problem.

“Siana, may I speak with you?” Naerin stopped short of climbing onto the porch, standing out in the still drizzling rain.

She nodded, patting the chair next to her. “Sure, give me something else to think about.”

Naerin climbed the stairs and slid into the seat next to her. “I had a visit from my twin today.” He looked incredibly uncomfortable. “My mother had an order for me that I will not obey, but I will warn you of it because they may send another to do what I will not.”
