“Child, I would wager quite a bit that Naerin considers you a friend.” Pryderin picked up another ball of yarn and squeezed it. “He does not speak to people he doesn’t like. Even if he saw you as a duty at first the fact that he will converse with you says he no longer sees you that way.”

There was something like relief that swarmed through Siana, but why was that? She didn’t need him getting close to her. Jake was already closer than she wanted, and she couldn’t trust either of them. Maybe friends was ok? Casual friends might be ok, she just didn’t need any sort of feelings related complications. Not after her ex, she wasn’t ever going to go there again. Maybe she was just being bigheaded, it’s not as though she was any kind of catch and Naerin barely talked to her besides his apology on the beach.

“Do you have any other questions, child?” Pryderin asked, leaning forward to prop his elbows on his knees. “You have asked nothing for yourself?”
