Prologue

A faint but beautiful memory...

Saltish humid air swirled around me as I wandered along the warm, clear Caribbean waters. The white sand was warm between my toes and the sun was gleaming, the sky bluer than the ocean.

I don't know why I was walking on the beach, but no reason could spoil this comforting moment. With my pair of black sandals in hand, I continued walking until I ended up by a wooden dock.

Climbing the stairs of the dock, I walked to the edge of it, where a male figure was standing. He was observing the sea, watching the cruising ships travel across the calm waters as the wind blows his dark hair into a stylish mess. His back was towards me, showing no indication of him hearing my approach.

I stop at a distance, staring at him as I admire him.

Waves were gently crashing against the poles supporting the wooden dock, making rhythmic music that could calm any storm in one's mind. The soothing sounds that only the ocean could make were suddenly much quieter when the male figure started to speak.

"Rose... why are you here..." he asked in a deep but enchanting voice. I moved towards the man, feeling an air of familiarity as I closed off the distance between us.

I stood beside him. The sun was slowly setting, making the once blue sky flare into a beautifully painted canvas of colours.

Unhurriedly I asked in return, "Why were you waiting for me?"

Colours started to spiral and mix as the faint images started to blur into darkness taking its warmth away with it.
