Chapter 1: The world unseen

Honestly, Adeline was having a pretty shitty day. All she wanted was to go home and read a book. Maybe take a nap if she was lucky but who knew. She sighed and looked both ways across the street, no cars. Walking across the street her phone buzzed, Adeline pulled it out and looked at it.

Shit.

She didn't want to talk to her at the moment. She turned up the volume to her headphones and stuffed the phone back in her pocket. Adeline glowered at everyone she passed and stalked down the road, she pulled her fluffy coat closer to her skin. It was cold and the wind seemed to be picking up. The falling snow didn't help either. She turned onto an alley way and pushed her back against the wall. 

Or, what she thought was a wall. Adeline fell backward. Almost like Alice in Wonderland, when she was falling through the hole, brought down by a white rabbit except nothing was bringing her down this hole. It was all her fault, it always seemed to be her fault. She closed her eyes and let the darkness engulf her. She felt a sudden rush of wind and a gust of cold. Her feet seemed to land on the ground and she scrunched her eyes up a bit.

"Yes! I got the new 5 star character." A voice echoed in her ears. Who was that...? Adeline had never heard them before and 5 star 'character'? What did that mean? She opened her mouth to say something. 

"Uhm, I think your confused..." Adeline opened her eyes and blinked several times. The leafs were green and lush, swaying slightly in the breeze. She turned around and saw the statue behind her. A hooded person was holding an orb in their hands, wings curved around them. Who was that? Was it a landmark? Where on earth was she?

Adeline turned again and found herself standing face to face with a blonde haired boy. His hair was tied back in a long braid reaching down by his lower back. "Who are you and where am I?" 

"What do you mean? Your the new character addition to Sumeru. Inky the professor from the Haravatat!" He stated, smiling broadly. 

"Inky..? Professor? Haravatat?" Adeline, looked down at her outfit and was shocked to see she was wearing a black tailcoat with a white undershirt and a blue tie. She was also wearing knee high black boots with heels making her a few inches taller. Black leggings with shorts accompanied this disdained outfit from Adeline's point of view. She hadn't yet noticed the long wolf ears sticking up from her hair. 

"Yeah, I've loved your story quest! Its the best." He slid his hand to the left and a small transparent, blue, menu appeared in front of him. He glanced up and beckoned her toward the screen. She edged over shakily and glanced at the screen. 

She was the main focus of the tiny little screen. 3 other characters were positioned on the right side of her. Smaller than her. But there she was, in the middle of the page... with wolf ears...? Her hands immediately shot up to her head. They were there..

"No.. no, no, no!" She turned around and found a tail swaying slightly. "Why am I part animal?!" Adeline looked back at the screen and found her hair was shorter. Turning her gaze on the man standing next to her she hissed softly. "Where am I?" 

He turned to look at Adeline. "Your in Teyvat, the world of the online game Genshin."

"I'm in a video game...?"
