Chapter 4

  Ding* ding* ding*

My timer rang and my sleepy eyes slowly shut open as I reached toward it to put it off.

My eyes strolled out to the closed curtains and windows and I sighed. Slowly rising up from my bed and walking towards it to open for some ventilation.

I could hear the voices of my parents talking downstairs and that of betty and luke.

  Right, he still hasn't left

I raised my hands to stretch as I was feeling weirdly really good today. Most times I woke up in an even worse mood.

I walked over to the bathroom and brushed my teeth roughly and as I was brushing, my eyes fell on the glass in front of me and my eyes doubled, toothpaste drawing from my mouth.

Clear ocean eyes; soft rosy lips, untidy golden brown hair, and a face devoid of any black scar.

I blinked unable to believe what I just saw and when the picture didn't disappear, I touched my face dramatically. My lips spread in inexpressible joy and soft laughter escaped my lips.

  "It's gone"

I whispered and then blinked muttering it out clearly and boldly into the atmosphere.

  "It's gone"

And then my lips pursed, a slight frown settled on my face. How did that happen?

I wondered and then shook in happiness, kneeling to the heavens and internally thanking the soul of whoever did such a wonderful thing to me.

I laughed, quickly taking my bath and brushing my mouth. I dressed up in a tight red gown and boots and even used slight makeup before heading downstairs to meet my parents.

I met my mum, Anne cooking in the kitchen and I leaned against the door waiting for her to notice it by herself.

Two seconds and the soup spoon fell from her hands. "It left?"

I nodded happily, and jumping on her and my mum laughed along all through my excitement, she kept asking me what product I used to get rid of it.

  I sighed.

  Enough of jubilation.

"Mum, I'm heading to school. Pass the good news unto dad"

I uttered and my mum frowned. "You aren't waiting to eat"

"Nope. I'm sorry but I'm running late"

I uttered as I grabbed my bag, walking down into the sitting room. As usual, betty was resting her head on luke's shoulder and I tried to ignore the sadness in my heart.

Luke's eyes widened first as he looked up first, as betty was still busy chatting away on her phone.

  "You-"

His perfectly shaped lips pursed and I stared at them for a split second before directing my gaze back to his eyes.

There was a little glint of something in his eyes. I think he caught that.

I chuckled, trying to keep it all natural. "Makes no difference"

I muttered in an I-don't-really-care-mood. Though, that was a lie as I loved the fact that luke couldn't stop staring at me since I entered but betty finally decided to look up and destroyed our little moment.

She blinked, as though her eyes were deceiving her. I could see a glint of jealousy in them.

Of cause, I was originally finer than her.

"You finally got an effective product?"

She asked as though, she didn't care one bit and I hunched my shoulders.

"Trust me, I woke up like this"

I could feel her rolling her eyes from within but she probably didn't want to appear jealous especially not in front of luke so she decided to hind her jealousy with a rehearsed lovely face and I only used that to my best advantage.

"Well, you don't mind me stealing luke for a while. After all, he is my friend"

I muttered and I could see a threatening fire glittering in her eyes but she choose to laugh instead.

  "Of cause not"

Luke looked at her, kissing her on the cheeks before jogging over to me and walking me out the door.

  ***

When we got outside and it was just two of us. I rested my back on the wall opposite him while luke only kept looking at me throughout.

"Can you-", I uttered, licking my underneath lip, due to the tension he was creating inside me.

"Stop doing that", I murmured and he chuckled. His body rested a little bit too close to mine, but I didn't say anything.

  "stop what?"

He asked innocently, a silly grin flickering in his eyes. I gritted, slapping him playfully on his arms but when I looked at his eyes again. They were staring at me almost in a devouring way and I took it as my cue to create some distance between us.

I didn't want a jealous girlfriend to kill me in the night.

He noticed my motion and rubbed the back of his neck on reflex. I held my bag straps a bit tightly looking into his brown eyes.

"I just wanted to talk to you since we've been drawing apart-"

I muttered, shifting uneasily on the ground, "even if you have a girlfriend now, at least try to create some time for your other friends"

He deep his hands into his pockets, a slight frown hanging across his face. "I don't have a girlfriend"

He muttered to my surprise, and my eyes that were currently staring at the ground rose to him almost in an instant.

  "What? I thought you and-"

"No", he answered, already knowing who I wanted to say and as much as I thought knowing that he was single would make me happy, it surprisingly didn't.

  "but you sleep together"

I stated plainly and he pinned his eyes on me almost expressionlessly. "Everybody does that, Kathy. Whereas, she understands the deal"

My mouth almost dropped at his statement, I never thought he was also one of those guys who just went around sleeping with different girls.

I nodded, looking him over and suddenly, I felt like I didn't even know him at all. His brown eyes were not looking like the ones I fell in love with and even when he was currently staring at me, I wasn't appreciating it.

So if we had slept together, he would tell me the same thing. Did he even understand the magnitude of what he was saying?

I had always thought that he was the right one for me, but now that he was standing in front of me and obviously giving me his attention, I didn't think so anymore.

"See you at school", I managed to mutter as my feet creaked further away from him.
