Geilas

Chapter 14

Geilas

"Hey, Meadow, you alright sis?" Alda asked her.

"I'm not sure, really. It's like I'm so overjoyed to see this place, but saddened by what came to be here. I can't really explain it…but I can feel the Darkness inside those walls, and it makes me sick. They are desecrating my… my home. All of this is just so much. What am I supposed to do? A part of me wants to rush in there and vanquish every ounce of Evil from within my walls. The other part of me can't even fathom that castle being my true home!" She rambled on at this point and was barely eating this delicious spread I prepared.

"That is part of the reason we are here" I spoke up finally. "Today I told you that you would all learn about this place and what you need to do. Now that you all know what family you belong to, you know of the war that has started and you know of the 6 families. It is time to tell you of your parents and what you all must overcome."

As I said this, I could feel my sunny disposition leaving my being as a more serious tone filled the air. Something told me that shit was about to hit the fan when the girls found out this next part. They better hold on to their hats because life was about to drastically change. I have known that it was always my duty to prepare them once they returned. I knew it wouldn't be easy. I had never suspected that they would be completely oblivious to our world…their world! I still haven't figured out what happened with their wards. I knew I needed to find out, but I was more worried about my sisters and how they would handle everything I am throwing at them.

I haven't even had the chance to tell them we are all blood bound to one another, destined to right the wrongs of Bavilan. Sisters of the New Age. That is why I'm the last Amazon. I am destined to rebuild my Tribe…but only once the rightful Heirs have taken their thrones! I miss the days of being with my fellow Amazons, but destiny had another plan, and I must get them ready! I took a deep breath and continued with the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

"We will once again start from oldest to youngest, as we are at Meadows castle." She began. "Let's start by saying that none of your parent were human…therefore you are not human. You are all a blend of races." I stopped there to see what reception this declaration would give me. I know one of them is already ready to blow their top!

"Lady you are nuts if you think we aren't human. I have been in this body for 18 years and I can guarantee you that there is nothing abnormal going on! /you have got to be smoking the same stuff that Ms. Hanafrey's "male friend" smokes when he comes to the group home." Ember blew up, much to my expectation. "I know all of this is just some crazy and wild story now. Whatever drugs are you guys smoking here in Bavilan, I would maybe lay off for a while." Ember laughed out loud like what I had said was the crazy's thing she had ever heard.

I'm sure it was the craziest thing they had all ever heard. Especially since they were not raised and taught like they were supposed to be! Feeling enraged with the Wards again, I tried to calm myself and continued.

"You laugh now, but I assure you that what I say is true. In time you will all see this." I replied matter-of-factly, as if this was no laughing matter. I brushed my long braids out of my face with a huffing in aggravation. I don't know if I can do this. The universe picked the wrong Amazon. "This is why I doubted myself for so long and why I came here to think. I was tasked not only as the Keeper of your weapons but also as guide to you all in this journey that we all must take. Part of that responsibility is telling you of your Heritage. Believe it or not, that does not make it any less true."

"Geilas, how is it possible that we look…human?" Alda asked timidly.

"What kind of creatures are we talking about…Are there like unicorns and big foot running around the woods? Or maybe we are a mix of a Pheonix and a dragon! Come on, don't hold out on us now Geilas." Wren chimed in.

"Are you guys seriously buying this?" Ember fumed. "You have got to be the most gullible group I have ever met…and I'm stuck here with you all!"

"We should hear her out. Geilas gave her life to help us. We all know what we have been feeling since we got here. It's not a coincidence. We ARE meant to be here Ember. So just shut your trap if you don't have anything constructive to say, so the rest of us can hear." Wren couldn't help but snap at Ember. You could tell that she loved her sister but anyone would have a hard time dealing with that kind of negative energy all the time. Anyone but Alda of course, it would seem.

"To answer your questions, you look human because that is the form you take on before your Aging Rite. Once you have come of age and into your full power, you can transform at will, from your current form to your natural form. As for the types of creatures, I'm told back on Earth that mythology is taught as if it were an imaginary world. Here in Bavilan, that "dream world" is actually real. All the creatures of fantasy come from our lands and our stories. If you can imagine a mythological creature, chances are there are some in each of your lands." I revealed excitedly. Wren's excitement in all this mystery fascinated me and made me excited to tell her everything.

Meadow still hadn't spoken. She was still staring at the castle, her castle with a look I couldn't quite place. I know this must be hard for all of them, but it seems she is finally getting that all of this is real. I'm sure she is extremely overwhelmed.

"So, Meadow, are you ready to hear more about your family and your true form?" I paused one more time, placing her smile back on her face. I was hoping this would ease some of this tension I could see surrounding her aura.

"Yes Geilas. I'm ready."

"Huh! Well I guess we are all on the crazy train this week! Don't say I didn't warn you guys not to drink the Kool-Aid!" Ember chimed in quietly, settling next to Alda for the next part of the tale.

Sometimes we all need to learn a good lesson. What is a lesson you have learned your life?
