The Brothel

A feeling of reluctance was pulling me while I eyed the man. I returned my eyes to the uniformed guard with full of inquiring look. “Go on, sir, the man can help you,” said the guard, nudging me with encouragement.

“Is he an employee of Madam Jade?” I asked. It was a nonsensical question posed to prolong my stay with the guard, and to have some time to decide whether to proceed or not.

“Yes sir,” answered the guard. Indecision still holding me, I’d rather act now before Dordo and company suddenly appear and ruin everything I had worked out for my unplanned endeavor.

I left the uniformed guard and walked towards the man near the elevator while thinking of a different approach. “I’m going to Madam Jade’s place,” I said to the man.

He looked at me from top to bottom then to my bag hanging on my shoulder and then back to my waist trying to determine if I was carrying something inside my belt. “May I see your card, sir?” he said.

“Ca. . . sorry, I don’t have one.”
