Chapter Forty-Nine

Cierra's heart raced as she gazed upon the women, their armor shining in the sun as they rode toward her. She had never seen such beautiful women before, and they exuded power. As they got closer, she could see that their eyes were sharp and expressions stern.

Cid moved in closer to Cierra's legs, lowering his head and barring his teeth.

"Who are you?" the woman riding in front of the others demanded, her voice ringing out across the field. She held up a fist, and the women riding behind her slowed to a stop.

Cierra swallowed hard. How many women warriors were there in mythology, and how many would she meet before a group decided they disliked outsiders? Hopefully her luck hadn't run out yet.

"I'm Cierra," She paused, but they stayed still, waiting for her to go on, "I'm looking for a shield. Goddess Brigid's Moaner, last seen with…"
