Failed Escape

Description of Suicide Ahead! Readers' discretion advised!

Valerie slowly opens her eyes to find herself on her bed. The room is stuffed with red roses. As soon as she saw this she rushed outside but now she is in that very room. She can feel someone's presence inside the room. She tries to open her eyes properly but she is still feeling a bit out of breath and can't see clearly.

As her eyes are getting used to the low lighting of the room she starts to see a very familiar silhouette.

"Hi!"

It is him! The living nightmare she is trying to get away from for the last two years.

"How are you?"

Valerie can't even utter a single word. She doesn't know what is the right thing she should say at the moment.

She can now clearly see that same smiling face, same dreamy eyes and same back brushed dark hair. There were days when these things used to make her heart flutter but not anymore. Now she feels scared, too scared to even make an eye contact or carry on a proper conversation. At last her days of freedom is over.

"V, I really missed you. I thought I won't be able to see you ever again."

That same cold voice. Valerie tried but again she failed.

"V, I know you missed me too. You are really surprised seeing me back, right?"

She can see Bryce coming towards her. She feels an urge to run away but she knows that is impossible.

"I'm sorry Bryce."

"So you know you did something wrong? Tell me what are you sorry for?"

"For everything."

"Really? Like what?"

"For leaving you like that. I was really confused and I needed some time for myself."

"But you were taking too long to come back so I had to come to find you."

Bryce sat beside her grabbing her by the shoulders. She can feel his warmth trying to burn skin. She feels nauseated. But now is not the time to show any kind of weakness. Valerie has to choose her words carefully or tonight can be the last night of her screwed-up life.

"How did you find me here?"

"You don't need to know darling. One thing for sure I'll always be around you because I promised your mom."

"Yeah, I know. Sorry I made you worried."

"Hunn, it's already been two years. You have played around quite a lot. Now it's time for you to get back."

Trapped in Bryce's hug Valerie can feel her happy days are over. She will be trapped inside the golden cage again. Valerie knew her days of freedom were numbered. Still she wants to try to take a chance.

"Bryce, can we please talk about it tomorrow? I'm not feeling too well right now."

"Look how weak you have become. You should have just stayed with me."

"Yeah, I know. I want to take a nap for now. Can you please just go back for today? I promise I won't try to run away."

"It's okay. You can always try running away. We are soulmates so I can always get you back."

The overconfident smile on Bryce's face is making Valerie feel sick. This was the man she loved. The day they first met was the day when it all started to go wrong. Valerie can't afford to think too much right now. She knows running away from him is not the option. She has to come up with a permanent solution otherwise going back to that golden cage will have worse consequences this time.

"V, Don't use your brain too much. The only thing you need to know is I love you."

It's already been an hour since Bryce left. Valerie still can see the roses filled in her bedroom and they are making her sick. She can feel her life coming to an end. It's time for her to make a choice. She rushes towards her kitchenette. She feels an urge to finish this pathetic life.

Holding a knife in her hand she quivers tremendously. She can see the red blood trickle down from the freshly cut wrist. But no she can't feel any pain. Maybe it was not the spot she was supposed to cut. Valerie felt frustrated as she can't even end her life properly. She collapses down crying.

Her phone screen lit up.

One says, "Honey, don't try anything foolish. I'll take you back to our place tomorrow."

Another one reads, "I know everything happened to you and I wanted to tell you that dying is not always an option. Think carefully and you will see other options you have."

Not only Bryce but there is another person watching her?! A chilly wave runs down Valerie's spine. Her life was already crappy enough but now she feels like maybe it wasn't enough. Valerie can feel lots of eyes watching her.

'Maybe this is not the time to die' she says to herself. She has to know who this new person is and what options they are talking about. If she can't kill herself at least she has to find out a solution to turn this crappy life a bit more liveable.
