Chapter 9

Today was the day that I anticipated the most when I was on bed rest. It was finally the day I would start my magic lessons with Evander Duras.

Evander was someone everyone respected. He was well known throughout the whole empire. During my resting time, I read about all of his achievements since I had the brain capacity to understand everything I read now.

He was truly amazing. Before, he was nothing but a commoner.

When my grandpa reigned in the Alynthi Empire, he took charge of changing society since he was a philanthropist at heart. My grandpa was quite an honourable man as he worked hard to change people's perceptions of women and commoners. He changed the education system so that women had more rights and commoners could study since before the main Academy was mainly for nobles.

Evander was a lucky person who managed to be granted a scholarship. From then on, he worked his way up and became the Master of the Tower. His power and intellect were truly amazing and inspiring. Because of him, many were hopeful of achieving a bright future. Thus, he was granted a surname and became my father's teacher thereafter.

Although my father's mana and now mine were unbeatable, Evander did have an unusual amount of mana. He mastered it and spread the knowledge of new magical formulas he discovered and such.

Such a wonderful person was now my teacher, and I was brimming with joy.

I had not used my magic at all since that incident, so I was excited to finally use it.

By the time I finished breakfast with my parents, I got changed into a more suitable attire instead of a dress. It was specifically made to be magic-proof just in case I put myself on fire because that could happen.

Once Mary tied my hair up in a high ponytail, which was really small, I dragged my little legs to a 'spare' study room. The study room was supposedly mine, but I had not used it since I was born, so now it was finally in use.

The room was vacant, so I quietly sat down on a chair whilst Mary stood next to me and Kaine at the door.

I patiently waited.

My leg bounced up and down in anticipation as I did.

In a flash, Evander appeared in the room out of nowhere and I jumped.

"Greetings to your Imperial Highness the Princess," he greeted me.

I clasped my hands and looked at him with sparkles in my eyes.

"Teacher!"

At my call, he smiled.

"Can I call you gwandpa?" I innocently asked him.

The person in front of me was definitely old. He was much older than I expected, but he was the teacher to my father, so it made sense.

At my suggestion, he told me I could call him whatever I wanted, and I was happy. Although on the outside, I looked like an innocent child, inside I was happy because I could make a connection with such a brilliant person.

"My name is Evander Duras, and I am currently the Master of the Tower. From today, I will be helping your Highness control your magic and master it and to help explore what powers you have."

He thoroughly explained to me what he was going to do, and I nodded every time.

After that, he held my hand and measured the mana in my body.

"Thankfully, your mana has become stabilised so you will not feel faint or pain anymore," he told me.

"However, whatever I teach you, please refrain from using it outside of class too much. Your Highness's body is still small and young, and it will not be able to take all of your mana."

Mary carefully listened to all of his instructions since she was technically taking care of me 24/7.

Grandpa Evander ended up advising me that I would have to start training my body so it would not be frail or weak. And then, we finally started class.

The class was not long, just about 2 hours and since I was still young, we mainly did the basics. I found out that magical theory and history would come later.

Since I was the one and only Imperial Princess, I've already had a few classes on etiquette and basic subjects. But I knew as I grew up, I would have more classes since I was the heir to the throne.

It was a lot, but in my past life, I was unable to learn and concentrate properly due to my illness, so I liked learning. I was determined to do my best in everything and be a great princess.

When the class finished and Evander left, I visited my father in his office.

"How was class?" he asked me as he lifted me up and placed me on his lap.

"Fun!"

He smiled at my excitement. He gave me a soft kiss on my cheek and I grinned.

"Gwandpa was so cool!" I beamed.

"Grandpa?"

I nodded.

"So he let you call him grandpa. He must have a soft spot for you then," he mumbled, which I caught.

I felt happy knowing my cuteness made him soften up to me since I was a 5-year-old.

"But who wouldn't like my cute princess?"

Father pinched my cheeks and I laughed.

After some time, he was immersed with work as I quietly sat on his lap, munching on some snacks.

As I did, I almost screamed when the page reappeared in front of me.

Calming myself down, I tried not to freak out so my father could not be alarmed. Instead, I patiently waited for the text to appear. Once it was finished, I read it.

Just like last time, once I read it, the page disappeared as if it was never there in the first place.

I tried to process what I read. It was the same as before. It repeated what happened to me, but added a few details in the third person as if someone were reading it.

"What's the matter?" I heard someone say.

My head snapped up and I saw my father looking at me with concern in his eyes. I realised I stopped eating and to him, it would seem like I was staring into space.

Quickly, I changed my facial expression and smiled.

"Nothing!"

I went back to eating and looked in the corner of my eye at my father's reaction. He wasn't convinced but since I didn't say anything, he resumed what he was doing.

As I ate, I pondered over the two pages I read. They were clearly about me and it sounded like a story. Just what was this?
