Chase woke up the next morning when someone climbed on the bed with him and he turned the bed lamp on before he looked at his fiancée. "Hey."
"Hey." Luna said softly and she laid her head on his chest. "Your mom said I had to come and crawl back into bed for about another hour. Muffins won't be ready until then, and I shouldn't tire my foot out before we even started."
"How is your foot feeling?" Chase asked.
"It's okay. The moonboot makes it easier to walk because I can step lightly on my foot with it on, but my knee takes less strain without the moonboot." Luna said softly and she looked up at him. "Go back to sleep."
"Did my mom say you have to come and crawl into my bed?" Chase asked.
Luna shook her head and she pushed her bottom lip out. "The house is very big. I can hear my mom in the kitchen from my own room, here it's so far away."
"Believe me, if you slept here for a week once the school starts, you will be glad it is so big on weekends." Chase said. "Titus and Austin and Faye make enough noise to wake up the entire house within five minutes."
Luna giggled and she closed her eyes. "I just want a little company."
"Okay, but you need to sit up." Chase said.
Luna obeyed and she smiled when he sat up and made her move in to lie on the side of the wall.
Chase took his bible and journal and then sat-lay against the continental cushion and he smiled when Luna cuddled up against him. He kissed her head and then opened his bible and began reading his daily chapter in a soft voice. He did his bible study once he finished reading it and smiled when his mom came into the room with a tray. "Morning."
"Morning. I was wondering where she disappeared to. I was thinking she might have joined June." Sephira said.
"Nope. I woke up when she climbed on the bed." Chase said softly and he looked at his fiancée and then kissed the bridge of her nose. "Angel, mom brought coffee."
Luna stirred and just snuggled a little closer to him in her sleep.
"Muffins will be ready as soon as dad is done grating the cheese." Sephira said and she placed the mugs on the cabinet.
"Thanks mom." Chase said and he waited until she was gone before he packed his stuff away and then had some of his coffee. He kissed Luna when she woke up and looked at him, and then he handed her coffee to her. "You need to wake up properly and move from my room because I want to shower and get dressed."
Luna nodded and she sipped her coffee and touched his bible bag. "I love the printing."
"Thanks. Mom and dad bought us each the bible bag of our choice when we started school and added a bible and journal to it, and without us knowing, they originally bought two, and every year on the first day of school they would come home and add pens, bookmarks, stickers, badges, a journal, devotional or study guide that we were particularly interested in to a box along with a photo of that day, and then on the night before our first day of college, they gave us the box, and it would be like a walk down memory lane. Mom also wrote down the highlight of the year, where we made a really bad decision and what she was proud of us for doing that year on a piece of paper which would get clipped to the photo. Most of that were things we never knew, and it was really wow, and it made us think about moving ahead as adults, and making better decisions, and realizing when we are making mistakes." Chase said. "And so far, the three of us who have already received our box, asked mom to continue with the page a year, but instead of us getting it on the first day of school, it appears on our first day back at work if we had a vacation, otherwise it appears when they get back from vacation if they had one. Dad delivers mine and Joy's before we enter the office and I think mom takes Sarah's to her."
Luna nodded and she carried on sipping her coffee.
"Okay, I am going to go and shower. Otherwise the muffins will be cold by the time we get downstairs." Chase said and he grabbed his clothes and went into his bathroom.
Luna smiled and she finished her coffee and then took her crutches and went to her room. She had a quick shower and then got dressed in her jeans and a cute shirt before she took her shoes and phone and then went downstairs.
"Where is Chase?" Bryon asked when she entered the kitchen.
"Right here." Chase said coming in and he kissed Luna's cheek and then hugged his parents before he sat down. "Where are the others?"
"Struggling to get out of bed, showering, getting little ones out of bed." Joy said coming in with Jess sitting on her hip. "Kaylo, Joel and Titus are showering. Sarah is trying to get a very fussy upset Jason dressed, Austin said he wants to sleep further, Faye was sitting on her bed looking fast asleep and Jet was sitting on her floor crying her eyes out because her jumpsuit doesn't want to get on properly. I tried helping, and she told me I wasn't mommy, and she wanted mommy to help, or she would do it herself."
"Cor and June?" Luna asked.
"I have no clue." Joy said. "I wasn't exactly comfortable opening their doors when there was no response."
"Chase, see if you can get Austin out of bed, and see if Faye is actually moving, and tell Jet to stop crying and ask one of the girls for help, and find out what Cor is doing." Sephira said and she took the muffins from the oven. "I am a little tied up right now."
"Sure mom." Chase said and he went up the stairs and stopped in Jet's room. "Hi bugsy, what is the matter?"
"It doesn't work." Jet said through the tears.
"Okay, have you tried asking for help?" Chase asked.
"Want mommy to help." Jet said.
"Have you asked mommy?" Chase asked.
"Mommy busy." Jet said.
"Well do you think mommy would take five minutes to help you get dressed if you asked her?" Chase asked.
Jet shrugged and she kept trying to get the belts on right.
"You don't know, because you haven't asked." Chase said and he undid the belt that was on wrong and untwisted them. "Now try."
Jet looked at him and then pulled them over her shoulders and secured them. "Thanks Chase."
"You are welcome." Chase said. "Get your shoes and take your teddy. Muffins are about ready."
Jet nodded and she took her shoes and then grabbed the armful of plushies and left the room.
Chase smiled and he went to Faye's room. "Faye."
"I'm not awake yet." Faye said.
"I think that part is pretty clear." Chase said and he took her mug of tea. "Take your tea."
Faye looked up and she took her tea from him and took a sip. "Thank you."
"You are welcome. Finish your tea so you can get dressed." Chase said.
"Okay." Faye said.
Chase smiled and he kissed her head and then went to Austin's room and he blew his police whistle.
"Huh!" Austin yelled sitting up and falling off the bed. "Chase."
"Mom left you some tea almost thirty minutes ago already." Chase said. "Get moving."
Austin stood up and he took his tea, downing half the mug before he ran into the bathroom. "I'm in the shower!"
"Good. You have ten minutes to get dressed, grab your stuff and get in the kitchen or you don't get any muffins." Chase said and he checked in on Faye.
"I need to shower. I need to get dressed." Faye said still looking straight ahead of her.
Chase smiled and he took the empty mug from her and lifted her out of the bed and then took her to June's room with her clothes, realizing his sister was in a sleepwalking trance. He knocked on the door and opened it on a slither. "June!"
"Hey." June said coming out of the bathroom.
"Hey. Faye has sleepwalking issues, we are aware of it, which is why there is still a baby monitor in her room, and sometimes if you wake her up early in the morning, this is what happens." Chase said. "Do you have a few minutes to at least get her dressed for me?"
"Sure. What do you usually do to wake her up?" June asked.
"When I was still in the house six years ago, she was only six, so I used to undress her and put her in the shower on her bum, and the water would make her wake up. The kids only have a shower, washbasin and a toilet in their room." Chase said. "Now she is twelve, and almost a teenager so it would be very inappropriate to do that."
"Shower, got it." June said. "But you better make sure there is muffins left for us."
"I will do that. Thanks." Chase said and he closed the door and then went to Cory's room and knocked on the door.
"Hey Chase." Cory said opening the door. "My mom sent me a tube of gel with, and of course I went for a haircut with dad, but I have never before used gel. Mom put gel in my hair when we went to a wedding or a funeral, but we haven't been to one of those in a while so I haven't used it since I was old enough to 'know how to use it' if you understand what I mean."
"I understand completely." Chase said and he took the tube from the young man and took him into the bathroom and then showed him two styles that would work really well with his hair.
"Thank you." Cory said once his hair was right.
"You are welcome." Chase said and he wrapped his arms around the young man's shoulders and looked at him in the mirror. "You are becoming a fine young man."
Cory smiled and he looked at the young man who has become like his big brother in the last few months. "Thanks Chase."
"You are welcome. Let's go see if Titus needs help with hair gel and stuff. Just grab your phone." Chase said and he waited for the young man to do so before they went to Titus's room.
"Chase, I packed my gel in already. Do you have some of yours still out?" Titus asked as soon as he saw his brother.
"Catch." Cory said and he tossed his to Titus.
"Thanks Cor." Titus said, and he went into the bathroom. "Please tell mom I will be down in five?"
"Okay." Chase said and he smiled at Cory before they went downstairs.
"Where is Faye and June?" Sephira asked.
"In June's room." Chase said.
"Okay." Sephira said and she handed them plates of muffins. "They can have some of the muffins that is still in the oven."
Chase nodded and he kissed her cheek and then enjoyed his muffins before he helped his dad get a box into the kitchen once everyone was in the kitchen and almost done with muffins.
"Okay, as always, we do special shirts for road trips." Bryon said and he took a bunch of shirts out. "As my kids know, our YouTube channel's name is 'Nuts about Family' and every year we do chipmunk themed shirts with the year on as memoirs, this year we have some guests, and as a result, I mixed things up a bit this year."
Luna smiled at Chase when he placed his arm around her, and she took the shirts Bryon handed to her.
"It is yours and Chase's." Bryon said.
"Thanks dad." Chase said and he opened his shirt and looked at the back. "Interesting combination, dad."
"I want to see." Titus said moving closer to his brother.
"It is a superman shirt." Chase said and he held it up and then turned it around. "With 'Prince' on the back."
"Did you read the front?" Bryon asked.
Chase turned it around and looked at the shirt again. "Every superman needs..."
"Check Luna's shirt." Bryon said.
Luna looked at her fiancé and then opened her shirt that was off-the-shoulder on the left side with two golden straps, one appearing to keep the sleeve up and the other appearing to keep the shirt from sliding too low, while a dainty chain seemed to be finishing the neckline, with the wonder woman logo on it.
"...a wonder woman." Chase said. "Nice."
"And turn it around." Luna said and she showed him the 'princess' writing on the back and then straightened the bottom to show him '1 Corinthians 13v1-3. "Do you know what that verse says?"
"Yeah." Chase said and he checked his shirt. "Okay, I might have missed that."
"We only added that for you two. Everyone else have the usual type, except Sarah and Joy and their guys, they have superheroes too." Bryon said.
"This is pretty cool." Chase said and he moved away and pulled his current t-shirt off and pulled the new shirt on. "It is a little snugger than I usually do, but it is comfy and soft."
Luna smiled at him and she went to the guest bathroom around the corner and changed her shirt for the new one and then pulled her hair out under it before she went back upstairs. She took her curling iron out that she decided could stay behind and curled her hair before going downstairs again. She got her makeup from the lounge and did a smoky eye with black eyeliner and mascara, and a cherry pink lip tint before going back to everyone in the kitchen.
"You look stunning." Chase said and he kissed her cheek.
"Thank you." Luna said and she took the box she got handed.
"I did not buy these with our money." Bryon said. "Grandpa sent money to spoil you guys with something new you have always wanted, because he said you guys did really well in school this year, and he was really proud of you guys."
"What about Sarah, Joel and Kaylo? They don't study anymore." Austin said.
"Well they did well at work, and Sarah has been doing very well in raising the twins." Sephira said and she winked at her eldest.
"And so we got some as well?" June asked.
"Well since my grandfather knew we were bringing you three along because your parents planned to go places that they haven't ever been to, since your dad had to take extended time off on orders of his boss, he sent extra money. He has over five very successful cattle and horse breeding ranches in and around Texas." Sarah said.
"Not to mention the two Bison ranches he has in Oklahoma as well." Titus said.
"We do not live in a fancy multi-million-dollar house because my dad has that much money." Faye said. "Grandpa built the mansion for them when they got married, and he paid whatever mom and dad needed on the land and on maintenance and insurance. He does it for both his daughters, and he furnished it as they wanted it. Mom and dad bought our second fridge, and he built onto our house when mom and dad had to start shuffling stuff when they had more kids than they originally planned."
"Wow, okay." June said. "My dad has money, and if you look at our house, it doesn't look like it."
"But he raised three humble kids." Bryon said.
"Yeah I guess that is true." June said. "I wouldn't want it any other way, but some days I wish he would be a little more generous."
"So you can have the latest iPhone and computer?" Cory asked. "No thanks. Jordan's parents cannot afford the latest and greatest, so no."
Luna smiled and she threw her sister with the cloth lying there when she wanted to carry on making her point. "June, no."
"Okay." June said and she ripped the wrapping paper off her box and opened it before she squealed and lifted a metallic pink laptop out. "This is the best ever."
"It is a limited edition. I bought that in February already because I didn't know until when it will be available." Bryon said. "It is a razor blade laptop, there is a wireless mouse, miniature sound system and wireless mouse with headphones and a mouse pad on everyone's bed."
"Wow." June said and she hugged Bryon. "Thank you."
"You are welcome." Bryon said. "But remember, I bought them, but I got given the money. I was going to buy everyone some SSDs because I know you three didn't have SSDs but then this appeared."
Luna enjoyed her siblings' excitement and then looked at Chase when he kissed her cheek.
"You might want to open yours." Chase said.
"Everyone got computers." Luna said.
"And they were all different." Chase said. "The kids got notebooks, the adults and teens got gaming computers."
Luna smiled and she opened her present and ran her hand over the sleek black laptop.
"It's the Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701, with aquamarine trim, instead of the normal red." Bryon said.
"It is stunning." Luna said and she opened it and smiled when she saw the detailing.
"We are running behind schedule. I suggest we start moving." Chase said and he tossed all the boxes on a stack in the pantry and threw the wrapping paper away. He took Luna's laptop from her and kissed her before he left the kitchen.
Luna smiled and she took the moonboot from June and pulled it on before she hugged her sister and then headed to the lounge. She took her backpack and shoulder bag and then went to the RV and climbed in with Chase's help.
"I need a shotgun rider until around eight or nine." Bryon said when everyone was in the RV.
"There is a lot of organizing to do in our sleep areas daddy." Faye said.
"I will sit there." Luna said. "I will be confined to my bum so I will have a lot of time to do stuff, and I think I saw a fold-out table at all the seats."
"You did." Bryon said. "Just turn the seat around. It will automatically disable the airbags."
"And then you can rest your leg on the seat behind you." Sephira said.
Luna smiled and she fetched one of her pillows and then sat down in the front passenger seat. She turned the chair around and tossed the pillow onto the seat right behind her and put her feet on it before flipping out the special desk. "Now this, I can definitely get used to."
"So shotgun rider gets to choose if we order a light breakfast from Starbucks with our drinks, and then get a sweet treat around nine, or if we do a full-out breakfast at Chick-Fil-A." Bryon said.
"Every morning?" Faye asked.
"No." Bryon said.
"You could've said that earlier, dad." Sarah said. "I will live with my life in a bit of chaos for a few days for some donuts."
"I know." Bryon said.
"You guys should know by now that dad usually have some sort of trick up his sleeve when he asks something like that." Chase said and he got Luna to lift her leg up and then pulled the chair behind her closer to her and he turned it before placing one of her other pillows over the armrest. He made sure she was comfortable and then kissed her before he went to the back again.
Luna smiled and she looked at her phone and then took her laptops from Chase. "Thank you."
"You are welcome." Chase said and he kissed her head before he went to the back again.
Luna smiled and she started the new laptop up to install Windows and then opened the other laptop and made sure she had backups before she tended to the new laptop again.
"See if you can access the internet and have a look at the menu so long." Bryon said.
Luna nodded and she did some stuff until she got to a point where she could get onto the internet and then paged through menus. "Can we get Cinnabons?"
"Your choice." Bryon said and he smiled when he could feel she got excited.
Luna smiled and she created a broadcast group on their instant messaging app and then sent everyone the plans with the menu link for Starbucks before she carried on with setting up her laptop while talking softly to Bryon about what he would like and previous driving experiences he has had.
"I'm jumping out alone unless Luna wants to join, dad. Mom is busy having devotions with the kids, Sarah and Joel went to take a nap, and Joy and Kaylo are having their own devotions." Chase said coming into the cab.
"What is Cor and June up to?" Luna asked.
"They are sitting with mom." Chase said. "You shouldn't worry so much about them."
"I was just asking." Luna said. "I am used to asking where they are or what they are doing."
Chase smiled and he kissed her head.
"Do you still do your devotions?" Bryon asked.
"Yes. I did mine before mom brought coffee." Chase said.
"I can't really place when last I was in a church after I got married." Luna said. "Trevor always claimed he went with his parents, and there were a few times he invited me with, but after we got married, he kept making excuses and going alone I felt judged because he didn't join me, so I think I was there for like three weeks before I stopped going because why go to church if all you get is judged, oh and I went to my parents' church a few times after my accident, but same story."
"I understand that part entirely." Chase said. "I went to a couple of different ones after I moved out, but I still get drawn back to the same one my parents go to."
Luna smiled and she put her laptop away when Bryon pulled in at the fuel station with a Starbucks. She got up carefully with Chase's help and then climbed out and went to the store with him.
"That is not a nice way to spend the summer vacation." An elderly man said.
"If I was still in school, I would agree, but this now accounts as sick-leave, rather than normal paid leave, which means I will still have enough leave for when I plan my wedding." Luna said.
"Good point." The elderly man said. "Well enjoy your vacation, I need to start walking."
"Where do you stay?" Chase asked.
"Everywhere." The elderly man said. "I am an old war veteran, and you know how things go."
"Would you like a hot drink and breakfast?" Chase asked.
"Would I like some? I would love some." The elderly man said.
"Just hang around a little longer." Chase said and he took Luna in. "I will get him some hot breakfast at Starbucks, with a coffee. See what you can find in the shop for a few days."
Luna nodded and she kissed his cheek before she went into the shop and took a basket. She walked around and took some canned food, rice crackers, peanut butter, syrup, powdered electrolyte, bottled water, candy, chips and a few slabs of chocolate and then pushed the basket to the counter and unpacked everything onto the counter and added a sturdy bag to put everything in. She paid and then put the bag on the handle of the crutches and went outside before handing the bag to the elderly man. "Be careful."
"Thank you, young lady." The elderly man said, and he looked in the bag. "Your man said you were getting me some more stuff for later, but this is like heaven."
"I am glad you like it." Luna said and she allowed him to give her a hug before she went to Chase in Starbucks.
"And?" Chase asked.
"I got some canned food, rice crackers, peanut butter and syrup and some water and other niceties for him and he was overwhelmed." Luna said.
Chase smiled and he handed her the three grocery bags. "Go to the RV so long and see if one of the men can help me carry."
"What is all this?" Luna asked.
"That I paid with my own money." Chase said. "This is all being paid with mom's credit card which if they hand in the slips to grandpa, he said he would pay it."
Luna nodded and she kissed him. "So your grandpa is paying most of this."
"He will pay for everything if mom and dad didn't plan this whole trip for a couple of years already." Chase said. "Go on."
Luna smiled and she went to the RV and climbed in, feeling relieved when she found Titus and Cory sitting in the lounge area with their laptops. "Chase needs some help getting the coffee in."
"Okay." Both boys said and they put their laptops down and went out through the front door so that she had time to get in.
Luna smiled and she placed the bags on Chase's bed and then went to the cab again and sat down. "It is tiring to walk around with this boot."
"I can imagine." Bryon said and he helped her to get comfortable again and took the boot off, placing it under the chair. "We will be doing mostly driving today."
Luna nodded and she smiled when the men came back with their coffee and food. "I am starving, and I need coffee."
"Well here you go." Chase said and he handed her coffee to her. "I see you ordered two types of burgers. The ham one and the bacon one."
"I want one of the ham ones, but I did ten of each so there is enough variety and so that you guys could have two if you wanted two." Luna said.
"Smart thinking." Bryon said. "You can hand me one of the bacon ones once we are on the freeway again, Chase."
"Sure dad." Chase said and he gave Luna her burger and his dad's burger.
"And it is actually not a burger." Titus said. "It is a sandwich."
"There is meat and cheese between two pieces of bread bought at a coffee shop or fast food link, so it is a burger." Chase said and he went to the back.
Luna smiled and she enjoyed the flavorful breakfast and her coffee before she carried on with stuff on her laptop. She handed Bryon his burger once he was ready for it and then looked at Chase when he came to the front. "I am done looking at a bunch of seats and a laptop screen."
Chase smiled and he kissed her before he took all the stuff to the back and then helped her to turn around. "How is that?"
"Much better, thank you." Luna said and she took her camera.
"Here is for you." Chase said and he placed a Frappuccino and another ham sandwich on the fold out table in the glove compartment before he placed a normal coffee in the cup holder for his dad. "I made the coffee, I bought the Frappuccino and told them to leave out the ice, but to leave me place to add ice a little later."
"How did you know I was sort of still hungry?" Luna asked.
Chase smiled and he kissed her head and handed his dad another sandwich after unwrapping it.
"Thanks son. Check for me where a Cinnabon is that we will reach between nine and eleven." Bryon said.
"Okay." Chase said and he handed Luna her camera with a kiss. "Have fun."
Luna smiled at him and then set her camera up and decided to do a photo of the sandwich and her Frappuccino lying on the little table. She devoured the sandwich after that and then enjoyed sipping her drink while taking photos of random stuff.
"Dad, when are we stopping?" Austin asked coming to the cab.
"Austin, when we enter a town, you may come to the cab and secure yourself first." Bryon said.
"Yes sir." Austin said and he slipped into one of the seats and put his safety belt on and looked out of the window. "Hey this is much cooler than trying to see out of my window."
Luna smiled and she gave Bryon directions and felt very relieved when she could get out of the seat again.
"This place is not meant for a bus this size, so everyone go in, get what you want and come out." Bryon said.
"Just ten minutes, please daddy?" Faye asked.
"Getting you all some buns will be over ten minutes. Move." Bryon said.
Luna smiled at Chase when he threw her shoulder bag over her head and she kissed him before she went into the little shop with him and their families.
"Luna, Chase." Sephira said.
"Want the pecan caramel center of the roll bowl." Luna said.
"Drinks?" Sephira asked.
"The Mocha Latte." Luna said. "Thank you."
"You are welcome. Chase?" Sephira asked.
"I will do the same as Luna, except I want a normal coffee." Chase said and he moved Luna out of the way. "Do you want something else? I never go to Cinnabon without getting some stix."
Luna smiled up at him and she placed her hand on his cheek when he kissed her softly. "It sounds amazing."
"And some BonBites or MiniBons?" Chase asked and he smiled when her eyes revealed the answer straight away. "Which one?"
"MiniBons." Luna said. "But I don't know if I want the pecan or the original one."
Chase smiled and he went to the counter. "Good morning, can I have a fifteen pack MiniBons in the original, and one in the pecan caramel, as well as two of your biggest packs of the stix?"
"You are not." Luna said.
"Not what?" Chase asked.
"Buying thirty mini Cinnabons." Luna said.
"Why not?" Chase asked. "I saved my Christmas bonus this year for it, and since mom and dad have started talking about this, the three older kids knew about it, so we began saving up for it."
"You know what, Lieutenant Chase Colton, you are the best, and I love you." Luna said.
"Great, because if you didn't, I would have had to eat all those by myself." Chase said and he smiled when she giggled, her eyes sparkling better than the night sky. He kissed her and caught Jet's hand completely out of subconscious reaction when she ran to them while enjoying his fiancée's lips under his.
"That made me think of the move in the Spiderman movie where he catches the coffee cup." Luna said softly.
"Really?" Chase asked. "The coffee cup didn't squeal and shoot off like a bullet."
Luna smiled and she kissed him again and then looked at Jet.
"Chase, mommy said I could come to you if I wanted to buy something for myself for later." Jet said.
"Okay, so what do you want?" Chase asked.
"I want the donut cinnamon holes. Mommy said no more icing." Jet said.
"Okay." Chase said and he had them get the little monkey her snack, and he smiled when she proudly counted money from her purse for her snack. He gave her the box when they gave it to him and smiled when Jet said 'thanks' and ran to Bryon at the door.
"Your daughter?" The cashier asked.
"No." Chase said. "That is my sister. We only got engaged last night, and right now it seems our chance for having our own is a little slim."
"Well I am sorry to hear about that, and congratulations." The cashier said.
"Thanks." Chase said and he smiled when Luna laid her head on his shoulder. "I think you need to take a nap before lunch."
Luna nodded and she smiled at him and then played with her ring.
"The floor manager said you guys could pick a drink on the house for your engagement." The cashier said placing some of their order on the counter. "The rest will come in a second."
"Just two plain lemonades. My mom did a large Cinnabon and a drink for everyone. This is like, stocked up for hopefully a few days." Chase said after Luna nodded.
"Fair enough. With or without ice?" The cashier asked.
"Without ice. We will probably leave them in the fridge for a while." Luna said.
"Okay." The cashier said and she went to the back.
"My knee really hurts now." Luna said softly. "I moved it a little and it just got a whole lot sore."
"I will grab the i8 from the bus and we can make a detour to the hospital and have it checked out." Chase said.
"Chase, what about your parents?" Luna said softly.
"That is why the i8 is there." Chase said. "As long as my dad, Joy or I are driving in uniform, no one can do anything to us."
"You brought your uniform with?" Luna asked.
"Yes, because with your leg and June having only been out of surgery for a week, there is always the chance something is a little off." Chase said. "And with people walking around on a moving bus, anything is possible."
"Okay." Luna said softly. "I am a little tensed, sorry."
"It is okay." Chase said and he kissed her forehead and then looked at the boxes that got placed on counter.
"We matched your Cinnabon order extra." The floor manager said. "I was going to give you your order on the house, but then I got told you had already paid, so I did drinks and a match to your Cinnabon order."
"Thanks." Chase said and he took the bag when it got handed over. "Sugar high on an RV, we will see how that goes."
"Very funny." Luna said. "Thanks guys."
"You are most welcome. Stay faithful and be kind." The floor manager said.
"Always." Chase said and he took their drinks. "Have a nice day further."
"You too." The floor manager said. "Let us know if we can do party favors for a wedding."
"Now that is an idea I might actually use." Luna said and she took the business card from him and then gave a wave before they went to Chase's parents.
"Are you guys afraid we won't see another Cinnabon?" Titus asked.
"No." Chase said. "I only paid for half of this. The lemonade and half the Cinnabons are on the house because I offhandedly mentioned we only got engaged yesterday when the lady thought Jet was ours."
"Nice." Bryon said. "Luna, are you okay?"
"My knee hurts rather intensely." Luna said and she took a deep breath.
"I'm taking the i8 out and taking her to the hospital." Chase said and he took the RV keys from his dad. "Thanks dad."
"You are welcome." Bryon said.
Chase went to the RV and he climbed in and put their Cinnabons in the fridge with labels on and then poured their lemonade into their juice bottles. He grabbed his uniform and had a flash change upstairs before he went around and opened the load bay at the back and lowered the ramp that the i8 was parked on. He pulled the car off and then closed the load bay up and made sure it was secured before he locked the RV again. He drove the i8 to stand in front of the door and climbed out and tossed the keys to Bryon before he opened Luna's door for her when Joel had accompanied her out. "Thanks Joel."
"You are welcome. Be careful." Joel said.
Chase nodded and he hugged his brother-in-law and then climbed into the car. He made sure Luna was comfortable and secured and then secured himself before he pulled away and drove to the nearest hospital, despite the fact that it was a children's hospital. He parked as close to the door as possible and then helped her out and fetched a wheelchair when he could see that even just using the crutches made it hard for her. He took her in and to the ER and tried to explain stuff.
"Chase, you are not making sense." Luna said and she took a deep breath. "I had reconstructive surgery in my lower leg almost two years ago after I was in a car accident, and a week ago I stepped skew, fractured my ankle and tore my ACL, which was damaged in the car accident, and now while standing at a counter, I moved my leg a little because sometimes it feels like it goes numb, and it was in huge pain."
"It sounds like a pinched nerve to me." The nurse said. "Let's get you in with an orthopedist and neuro-specialist to have a look at that."
"I hate saying that." Luna said.
"What do you mean?" The nurse asked.
"I am an ER tech." Luna said. "I haven't studied further since my car accident, but I was heading to becoming an ER doctor like my dad, and of all the things I hate saying to a living patient, is you need to see a neuro-specialist because half the time they freak out, because a lot of people think that a neuro-specialist is someone who only works with your spinal cord and in your brain."
"I understand that completely." The nurse said.
"I will wait here for you." Chase said. "If I get bored, I will come look for you, because it sounds like you two are going to start talking alien language."
"Wow." Luna said and she smiled when he kissed her. "Love you."
"I love you more." Chase said. "Go on."
Luna smiled and she enjoyed talking to the nurse and even the doctors who took over to check out her leg. She looked at Chase when he came into the observation room where she was lying while the neuro-specialist was going over the CT scan of her knee. "Hi."
"Hey." Chase said and he kissed her before handing her drink to her. "Mom and dad were here. They took the kids to the park. They said they will wait for results at least."
Luna nodded and she looked at her drink. "There is talk about surgery, and you are busy feeding me something."
"You can have that." The neuro-specialist said coming in. "I will only use a regional anesthetic and it is your choice whether you want to be awake or just catch a nap. Because I am not going to put you under general anesthetic, you won't have to worry about when last you ate and so on."
"So it is a definite that I need surgery, again." Luna said.
"Yes. This may sound really weird, but the plate holding your leg together was never meant to be permanent." The neuro-specialist said. "So it has moved a little bit, which is causing some of the pain, and yes there is a pinched nerve in your knee. While we will have it open, you can also decide if you want the ACL sewn back and if you are going to wait for it to mend itself."
"How much does it reduce my chance of tearing it again?" Luna asked.
"In the long run, not one bit, while it is currently damaged, it will stop you from tearing it completely and then going for surgery, again." The neuro-specialist said. "I am not the orthopedist, he just gave me notes as he had to run off. His assistant will be removing the plate before I free the pinched nerve."
"I behave myself when I am injured." Luna said. "I want to get this done so I can get back on the road."
"Okay." The neuro-specialist said. "This is an in-and-out surgery, so once you woke up, you can go home; your family just needs to keep a close eye on you."
"Great." Luna said and she looked at Chase and then finished her drink. "Here goes to missing lunch."
Chase chuckled and he kissed her before throwing the cups into the dustbin. He went outside when a nurse came in to change her and once they opened the curtains, he took her crutches, bag and clothes. He watched as the anesthesiologist gave her the anesthetic in her leg and he laughed a couple of times at her description of how her leg felt.
"How about, instead of painkillers I just get a couple of shots of anesthesia? It works much better." Luna said.
"No." Chase said.
"Nap time." The anesthesiologist said. "You sound like you are under the effects of something much stronger already."
Luna giggled and she moved the oxygen mask so that it sat comfortably and smiled at Chase when he moved a little closer. "I'll be fine."
"I know." Chase said and he kissed her forehead. "But I won't see you for a few hours."
Luna smiled and she moved the mask a little again when the vapor came in. "Love you."
"I love you more." Chase said and he smiled when he saw she was starting to get really drowsy already.
"See gyne..." Luna said softly.
"Are you sure?" Chase asked.
Luna nodded and she closed her eyes when he kissed her head and drifted off to sleep.
"Sweet dreams." Chase said softly.
"Good job." The anesthesiologist said.
"I did nothing." Chase said.
"Do you know how many of my patients freak out if there is no one here with them when they get given the sleep meds if they are not in their hometown? I have even had some patients freak out while their parents or spouse was here." The anesthesiologist said.
Chase smiled and he walked with them until Luna was in the operating room and then he went down to the main hall and looked at the map that was up against the wall before he went outside and just walked across the road to the park that was there.
"Hey, how is she?" Bryon asked.
"She is in for surgery, but apparently it is an in-and-out surgery. We just have to keep a close eye on her." Chase said. "Pinched nerve, and the plate in her leg moved a little, so they are going to be removing that."
"Okay." Bryon said. "We got some chicken salad from a deli close by. Tuck in."
"Thanks." Chase said and he joined his family on the blanket and enjoyed the picnic lunch with them and played with a Frisbee with them until around three. "I need to get back there so I can be there when Luna comes out."
"Did they say how long it will be?" Bryon asked.
"Nope, I forgot to ask." Chase said and he placed Luna's bag in the RV and then noticed the leash. "Dad, where is Colt?"
"I haven't seen him yet." Bryon said.
"Okay." Chase said and he took his phone out.
"Jordan should be there soon." Cory said. "He is housesitting, remember."
"Right." Chase said and he called Cory's best friend and waited for him to answer. "Jordan, its Chase."
"Hi Chase. I just got to your parents' house." Jordan said.
"Great, perfect timing. Get in and go check upstairs if you can find Colt. He is not with Luna, we stopped at a hospital because Luna was in some serious pain, and she is currently in for surgery, and I know Colt isn't with her because I was with her the whole time, and up to now didn't realize he wasn't with us. He probably got caught up in a room or something while we finished packing." Chase said.
"Okay." Jordan said and he deactivated the alarm and then ran up the stairs. "I can hear him."
"Ahh man. Okay." Chase said. "This is a lousy way to start six weeks away from home."
"Don't worry." Jordan said. "At least he is at home and didn't get locked up in a public restroom somewhere."
"True." Chase said and he smiled when he could hear Colt whining and getting all excited when Jordan opened the door.
"He was in Luna's bathroom. The windows are open, so the door probably slammed behind him. Her one asthma pump is lying on the floor here." Jordan said.
"Okay, I will definitely have to see about putting service dog door handles on doors." Chase said. "Take him to the station and find Eric Derringer. He is my best friend and knows Colt, and he will also have an idea of what to do, because I have hit a total blank right now."
"Eric Derringer, right got it." Jordan said and he patted his leg for Colt and head downstairs. "It looks like your sister's cat is enjoying the freedom."
"Tell me about it." Chase said and he took Luna's clothes. "Thanks Jordan. Remember to call if you need help."
"Your sister's cat feeds when she is hungry at the bowl, her water needs to be changed every morning, and jumps on your lap when she wants attention, other than that I have the biggest TV I have ever seen to play games on, there is a ton of food, a massive pool, and the best sound system around. What more could an introvert twenty-year-old want?" Jordan asked. "Oh and I work three days a week for four hours, and then I have the rest of the time to myself."
"I hear you." Chase said. "Have fun."
"I will. Don't worry too much about Colt. I will make sure he gets to you." Jordan said.
"Thanks Jordan." Chase said and he ended the call. "Colt got closed up in the bathroom when he fetched Luna's asthma pump that always lies there."
"Not good." Bryon said. "I will see what I can arrange."
"Dad, they can manage without you telling them what to do for once." Chase said. "If anything, wait until they call you and ask. I need to go."
"Okay." Bryon said.
Chase hugged him and then went back to the hospital and he enquired about Luna and then went up to the operating rooms when she wasn't out yet. He hung around there until the neuro-specialist came to him. "How did it go?"
"Perfectly. She should be awake soon, but everything looks good." The neuro-specialist said, and he shook Chase's hand. "She is going for another MRI quick, and then she should be ready to go home if it comes back clean. She is being put in an observation room in the orthopedist ward."
"Thanks." Chase said and he went to the orthopedist ward and spoke to the nurses there before he went to the room where they would put Luna. He looked out the window until he heard the wheels on the tiles and then turned and he smiled when the nurses brought Luna in.
"She is cleared to go home." The one nurse said. "Well as soon as her doctor signed her out. She just needs to get changed, and preferably wake up first, but the doctors said her vitals are still good and they have slowly began climbing again which means she is in the process of waking up."
"Great." Chase said and he placed the clothes on the bed. "I will be outside."
"Okay." The nurse said and she smiled at him.
Chase smiled back and then left the room and he took his phone out when it rang and answered it. "Hi Eric."
"Hi. You do know that a service dog is meant to be with its owner twenty-four-seven unless he needs to go for a vet checkup, right?" Eric teased.
"I know." Chase said. "What have you been able to arrange?"
"I got the hospital name from your dad where you guys are, so he should be landing in a few minutes. I hope you have your badge with you." Eric said.
"I am in full uniform, what do you mean?" Chase asked and laughed. "I need full uniform to be able to drive the i8 faster than a normal person, and with Luna's knee acting up, I wasn't going to take chances."
"Fair enough." Eric said. "Enjoy your holiday, but don't enjoy it too much without me."
"I will try." Chase said. "Thanks buddy."
"You are welcome." Eric said. "I did find myself a new Call of Duty partner for the holidays though."
"You and Jordan?" Chase asked.
"Yeah. He was puppy-talking Colt and mentioned how Colt made him lose another hour of gaming time, you know, playfully, so I asked what he planned on playing, and we got stuck talking." Eric said. "So I am going to go around there tomorrow after I slept, and we will be playing some games together."
"Great. Have fun." Chase said. "I need to grab my pup and then grab my girl so we can get back on the road."
"Your pup?" Eric asked.
"Yeah, he's mine too. Bye." Chase said and he ended the called and smiled before he went up to the helipad's level. He used his ID card to get onto the helipad and then stayed out of the way when he saw the police helicopter coming in.
"Someone is overjoyed to be back with his owner." The one paramedic standing there said.
"In theory I am not his owner. I did most of his training when we had more dogs than handlers, and he failed his K9 training, but he is an exceptional service dog, so he belongs to my fiancée." Chase said and he smiled when Colt jumped out of the helicopter as soon as the door opened and ran straight at him. "Hey boy! Did we forget you at home?"
Colt whined and jumped up and down around him while running all around him.
"Yes, I know buddy. Calm down." Chase said and he showed the dog to stay down and then went to the helicopter and shook the pilot's hand. "Thank you."
"You are most welcome, sir." The pilot said. "He was a joy to fly with."
"I'm glad. Have a good day further." Chase said.
"You too. Tell your old man we already miss him." The pilot said.
"I will do that." Chase said and he stepped back and saluted them when they began preparing to take off again and then thanked the helipad staff before he went down again after patting his leg to make Colt heel. "Let's go find Luna."
Colt nudged his hand and then walked next to him.
Chase smiled and he went to Luna's room and smiled when he saw she was dressed but still crashed out.
"She was awake for about five minutes while the nurses got her changed." The orthopedist said coming in and he handed Chase a large envelope. "It is her CT scans and the x-rays."
"Thanks." Chase said. "Where is her other brace?"
"I replaced it with a fancier one." The orthopedist said and he handed Chase a box. "The other one felt cheap and it was flexing."
"I noticed." Chase said. "I was surprised since her dad is a doctor at the hospital where she works, and where she got treated."
"Well I made sure the one she has now doesn't flex on the side, and you can change the angle at which her leg is braced yourself. She is wearing that ridiculous one for now, and she needs to wear it for a week. No taking it off except to put fresh ointment on the stitches, which means no baths or showers, and flat on her bum for forty-eight hours to help her body recover from surgery. She is wearing a supporting wrap on her lower leg that can breathe and doesn't pull the stitches just to help support her leg because it had a metal support for almost two years now and the muscles need to just settle back in place because obviously they were moved and stuff." The orthopedist said.
"Thanks." Chase said. "So I can take her home?"
"You can, yes." The orthopedist said. "There is a full report in with her scan pictures if you need to take her back to the hospital before your trip is over."
"Great, thanks." Chase said. "Any changes in medication?"
"No, except no anti-inflammatories tonight. She got a shot, so giving her again in a few hours will be an OD, and even though it shouldn't affect her body negatively, it could make her disorientated and delusional." The orthopedist said.
"Okay, thanks." Chase said and he woke Luna up and let her put her arms around his neck. He picked her up carefully and kissed her head before he shook the orthopedist's hand. "Have a good day."
"You too." The orthopedist said and he left.
Chase took the envelopes and box from the bed and then sent his dad a message to fetch them from the hospital. He went downstairs with Colt walking next to him and then went out the front door and he smiled when the RV stopped as close to the door as it could, since it was too high to come in at the visitor parking. He went to it and handed Joel the keys to the i8 and then climbed into the RV and smiled when his mom kissed Luna's head. "She got an upgrade in her brace as well. The orthopedist wasn't impressed with the brace she did have, so he gave her an upgrade. I don't know what it cost because while she was in for the tests and stuff, I gave her medical aid stuff in, and they told me it would all be covered by her medical aid."
"Great." Sephira said. "Her bed is ready, I moved her backpack and computer stuff out of the way already."
"Thanks mom. Also, this brace is only allowed to be taken off to clean and put fresh ointment on the wound. She is not allowed to bath or shower for a week. After that, she is allowed to put the other brace on and return to her normal way of life." Chase said. "So someone might have to help her a little bit."
"We will sort that out when the time comes." Sephira said. "Go put her to bed."
Chase nodded and he took Luna to her bed and placed her down on it very carefully. He moved her right and then placed a pillow under her knee after turning her on her side. He handed her a pillow when she woke up and smiled when she curled up with it and went back to sleep. He kissed her on her ear and then went to his mom and he placed the envelopes in the large pocket on the back of the seat. He placed the brace in the one overhang cabinet that had little odds and ends in, and then placed his hand on the counter when his dad pulled away. "Dad, where is Joel?"
"He is going to drive the i8 until we get to the next big fuel station where we have enough space to load it." Bryon said.
"Fair enough." Chase said and he petted Colt who was a little wobbly. "Let's go get you to lie down with your girl, boy."
"He looks like he has land legs on the sea." Titus said.
"It does look like that." Chase said and he walked slowly with Colt and then helped him onto the bed with Luna. He made sure both young woman and dog is comfortable and then sat down on his bunk with his laptop and played one of his PC video games.
"Everyone run in, give your order at Chick-Fil-A, KFC or Pizza hut, run to the restrooms, wash your faces and hands, go to the shop and grab one juice, one savory snack and one sweet snack, put it on the counter and back in the RV." Bryon said. "Make sure mom or I get your order slip for your food, before you get back to the RV. Coffee is on yourself this round."
"Can the first person back choose a movie?" Jet asked.
"No." Bryon said. "Get going."
Chase smiled when his little sister pouted, and he caught her side and then went to Luna who looked barely awake. "Hi angel. What do you want for supper? Chicken or pizza?"
"Wrap." Luna said softly, her brain clearly still in a muddle.
"Juice or soda?" Chase asked.
Luna shook her head and she buried her face in her pillow.
"I will be back in a few minutes, okay?" Chase said.
Luna nodded and she rubbed Colt's back.
Chase smiled and he kissed her cheek and then climbed out of the RV with his phone and he went to KFC and ordered a Hawaiian wrap meal and a sweet chili wrap meal for him and Luna with a coke each. He had a quick run past the restrooms and then went into the shop and had a quick look around before he grabbed two fruit juices Luna loved, a bottle of water, a bar of her favorite nougat and two packets of corn tortilla chips. He placed it on one side and helped Jet to get hers onto the counter as well. "Are you allowed to be running around alone?"
"Joy is there." Jet said and she pointed to where Joy was getting stuff from the one fridge. "She said I can come here because you were here, Chase."
"Okay." Chase said and he smiled when his dad came in.
"Chase, food." Bryon said.
Chase handed him the order slip and then turned when the cashier cleared his throat.
"Will this be all, sir?" The cashier asked.
"No. There are seven kids, and that is excluding two spouses and my fiancé, plus my niece and nephew." Chase said. "My dad will pay everything at the same time, so if you want to move it a little one side and help other customers, you are welcome to do so."
"Okay, sure." The cashier said and he moved the stuff a little bit.
"Thanks." Chase said and he took Jet back to the RV. "Go get changed into your pajamas while no one else is around."
Jet nodded and she hurried up the stairs.
Chase smiled and he went to Luna and sat down on the side of the bed and laid his hand on the side of her face. "Hey angel."
"Hey." Luna said opening her eyes. "I think the aftermath and the anti-inflammatory is having a competition of who can make me the sleepiest."
Chase smiled and he laid his hand on hers. "Do you still want to go and see a gynecologist?"
"We can." Luna said softly. "I was thinking I would start planning today. The way I feel now, I could be getting married right now, and I would have no clue it happened."
Chase smiled and he wiped her hair from her forehead. "I love you."
"Love you more." Luna said softly. "My leg feels numb."
"The one they operated on?" Chase asked and he pressed gently on her ankle when she nodded.
"Don't do that again." Luna said. "I think it is the anesthesia working off."
"Probably." Chase said and he undid the top strap on her brace and pressed in under it. "Can you feel that?"
Luna nodded and she watched as he secured it again.
"Then I am sure it is only the anesthesia that is still working off." Chase said and he kissed her softly. "I am going to go and see if mom and dad need help carrying."
"Okay." Luna said and she watched as he got up and left. She moved a little higher up on her cushions and smiled at Colt when he moved a little higher and laid his head on her lap. "Hi boy."
"Hey, mom wants to know if you need a restroom break." Joy said coming to her.
"Right now?" Luna asked.
"Yeah." Joy said.
"I am such jelly legs." Luna said. "It will be really embarrassing right now. You know when you fell, or you bumped your head or your elbow or even have a sore throat and you sound or feel so ridiculously weird that you actually just want to laugh at yourself?"
"Yeah." Joy said. "And when you are married, or even engaged, your guy thinks that makes you even more adorable and would love to just cuddle up all that adorableness while it lasts."
"Yeah, that." Luna said. "Your brother didn't say anything, but I could see he thought I was being ridiculously adorable, and that is probably why he walked out."
"Before he does something stupid, yup, that sounds like Chase." Joy said and she helped Luna up and allowed her to rest most of her weight against her. "Don't let the other foot touch the ground."
"I can't." Luna said and she began giggling. "It is like two inches shorter than the other leg with the way they braced it."
"Good, because you are not even allowed to take the brace of for a bath. It is allowed to be loosened to clean the wound and put new ointment on, that is it." Joy said. "Do you want to go upstairs, or do you want to go outside."
"Let's go outside. See if you can put my crutches one click higher, please?" Luna asked. "I just want to try something."
"Okay." Joy said and she readjusted the crutches and then handed them to Luna. "How is that?"
"Let's find out." Luna said and she tried walking with them. "Better, at least for now."
"Good." Joy said and she followed her and then climbed out before her and made sure she managed until she was out. "Good job."
"I feel like one of those balloon men that goes like everywhere in the wind." Luna said.
"You don't look that silly. Don't worry." Joy said and she walked with Luna to the restrooms and took her into the handicapped one. "Come on, more space here, and you can go through as handicapped right now, and with that brace I am sure it will be a mission using the normal stalls."
Luna nodded and she went in and her comments made them both nearly hysterical with laughter even after they were out already. "I need to catch my breath. I don't know what those doctors gave me, but it definitely feels like some sort of laughing gas."
Joy giggled and she went into KFC with Joy when they saw Chase there.
"Hey." Chase said. "What are you girls doing?"
"Had to go to the restrooms." Joy said.
"But I want ice cream." Luna said and she gave him her best puppy face.
"Cup or just a cone?" Chase asked.
"Cup, I don't care about the flavor, chocolate haven't killed yet, but I just want ice cream." Luna said.
"Okay. Get back to the RV." Chase said.
Luna nodded and she kissed him and then went to the RV with Joy and she sat down at the picnic table. "I just need some fresh air."
"Go ahead." Joy said. "Mom and dad are still grabbing food. The men brought the café stuff."
Luna nodded and she looked at the stars. "Wow."
"It will look even better once we get away from this." Joy said.
Luna smiled at her and then looked in front of her when she heard the other adults. She took her ice cream from Chase and got a kiss as well before she took a bite. "Hmmm. Thanks angel."
"You are welcome." Chase said and he handed Joy a cone. "That is for babysitting. I know you don't do loads of fast food ice cream."
"Thanks little brother." Joy said and she enjoyed her cone.
"In you girls get." Bryon said.
Luna pushed her bottom lip out and she stood up carefully and tried to walk with the cup.
Chase took the cup from her and then got into the RV and he smiled when it didn't take his fiancée long to get into the RV after that. "Go sit on the couch."
"Where is everyone else going to sit?" Luna asked.
"Titus is shotgun driver, so he will sit in front with dad, June, Jet, Faye and Austin are going to sit in the passenger seats and mom will join us, but the rest are going upstairs. Kaylo is going to take a nap before he takes the wheel at nine, and Joel is going to eat and then go to sleep because he takes the wheel at eleven until one, and then I take over for the graveyard shift until seven." Chase said.
"You are going to drive six hours, in the dark?" Luna asked.
"Yes." Chase said. "I easily do eight hours on the road at night."
Luna nodded and she made herself comfortable and enjoyed her ice cream before she tucked into her supper. She turned a little and made herself comfortable against Chase once she was finished with her food and then closed her eyes. "Nap time."
"Hey, you have a bed." Chase said. "I want to catch some shut eye too."
Luna pouted at him and then sat up. "Okay."
"Let's clean the wound, get you dressed in something comfier and then you can catch a nap." Sephira said.
Luna nodded and she stood up carefully and went to her bed with Sephira. She sat down on the bed and pulled herself deeper in and then lay back. "I doubt my jeans are going to go over the brace."
"I thought of that." Sephira said and she closed the curtains on all the sides before she helped the young woman to change into some short tights after having the brace off. "Now lie still while I got get some gauze."
Luna nodded and she moved a little closer to the window and looked out at the stars.
"Hey, I said lie still." Sephira said.
"It was just a teensy bit." Luna said.
Sephira smiled while shaking her head and then undid the supportive wrap before she cleaned up the wound. "Chase, why is this wrap on her leg?"
"It is supposed to be breathable and keep the ointment on, as well as avoid the stitches from pulling on the brace, why?" Chase asked.
"They either drenched it in ointment, or it's not as breathable as they say it is." Sephira said and she moved the curtain out of the way. "It's not goopy, but it definitely needs air to dry out or she will be at risk of tearing these stitches and getting infections."
"I see what you mean, mom." Chase said and he checked the brace. "Use some of that broad band aids that we got when Austin cut his foot, which we hate using because the junk can come in from the side just to close up where the brace will be, because the stitches will be like Velcro to this brace."
"It's in the first aid drawer by your father." Sephira said.
Chase nodded and he went to the cab and got the band aids out after making sure it was the right ones and then went back to his mom.
"Thank you." Sephira said and she checked the box and then carried on cleaning the wound before she put some ointment on and had Chase help her position the band aids properly.
"That should do it." Chase said after he had the brace secured again.
"That feels much cooler as well." Luna said.
"Great." Chase said. "We will check it again tomorrow, without taking the brace off, and if it looks good, we will only dab on some ointment where it sticks out, and then open it up again tomorrow night."
Luna nodded and she smiled when Colt jumped on once Sephira has left with the medical supplies. "Hey boy. Did someone at least feed you?"
"Don't be fooled by him!" Austin called from the kitchen area. "He just cleaned out his bowl of chicken and rice with some special gravy, and a bit of greens."
"Thanks Austin!" Luna said and she smiled at her fiancé.
"He has been begging dad for a dog, and with the whole road trip thing, dad said he had to take care of Colt for you, especially with this brace on, and then they can talk again after the road trip." Chase said softly.
Luna smiled and she moved a little bit and then placed a pillow under her knee. "Okay, I am ready for my meds."
Chase smiled and he got one of her capsules out and threw the meds out on his hand. "Which one is your anti-inflammatory?"
"The green and red capsule, why?" Luna asked.
"You are not allowed anti-inflammatory until tomorrow morning to avoid an OD which could make you delusional and disorientated." Chase said and he tossed the capsule into an empty pill bottle he got handed by Joy with Luna's water bottle. "Thanks."
"You are welcome." Joy said and she took the pill bottle again and wrote on it before placing it in the medicine cabinet.
Luna smiled at her fiancée and then swallowed her medicine with some water. "Thank you."
"You are welcome." Chase said and he kissed her. "I will see you later, I am going to go to sleep now."
"Sweet dreams." Luna said and she watched him, smiling when he pulled his shirts over his head and hung them up before disappearing into his bed compartment. She made herself comfortable on the bed and looked out of the window, but it wasn't long before she was lights out again.
