Nife's POV
l admire the beautiful view of the City of Abuja through the full-length wall glass window with a charming smile on my face while standing right on the second floor of Divaclyde company. I had my two arms folded below my bosom as l stood facing the glass window, with an unfading smile on my face.
"Yo, look what we have here! A beauty of glam worthy of her demeanor…" Collins, my close friend and business partner walked into my office, with his voice ringing loudly and full of excitement.
He's always been like that since l knew him after I graduated from college.
"Always erupting that cold and sexy demeanor…" Ada further emphasized as she trotted behind him with her heels clicking on the well-tied floor while her slender well-manicured fingers held her suit jacket lightly, her plump lips very obvious with red Victoria lipstick.
Well… what can l say, she loves dressing up despite being a doctor. She has been among my friends since high school till we finished college, and our bond has grown past that of a sister.
I slowly turn around to face them after hearing their voices without losing that charming smile on my face. These two people are one of the most important people in my life after my sunshine.
"Oh, my… Collins, l wonder why I haven't been able to make the heart of this goddess beat for me…" Ada frustratedly said, faking a frown as she slumped herself on the tea sofa inside my office, making me chuckle lightly.
"That's because You are not worthy to merit our goddess…" Collins jokes making us all burst out in laughter. If Ada is called the queen of flirty, Collin will be called a joklist.
"Chai… You don't mean it…" Ada said, in btw, laughing while patting her chest lightly.
"Like, You are the least…" Collins rebukes her playfully. I stare at the two funny people in front of me, step towards the tea sofa, and join them.
"You two, will not tell me you left your million-dollar projects to come to my office to crack jokes," I question them while raising my left brows slightly.
Ada looks at Collins and taps him on his forearm, before nodding towards my direction. "Shee I tell you, that this girl will not appreciate, but rather choose to foam boss Lady here," Ada complains with a fake frown.
"You talk am oo… I self-thought she was becoming a fun killer, and it's obvious that she is turning into a workaholic bitch…" Collins added and they both nodded their heads in tactics, forgetting that the one they were talking about was in front of them. My jaw dropped at their words as I stared at these two idiots.
"Adanna Okpalaeze, Collins Nsem!" I shouted, getting them back to their senses. They both look at me for some time and burst into a laugh.
"Funny, right??" I implored with a deep frown obvious on my face. "No, no, Nife…" Collins said, waving his palms in front of my face.
"But, you don't have to spell out our surnames like that…" Ada voices clicks her tongue and admires her nails.
"Seriously??" I thundered.
"Ok… ok… Nife, there's nothing bad in checking on our cute glam friend." Collins said with a smile. I just laughed and shook my head.
"Of course not, I'm just feigning. You know how fun it is teasing you guys…" l said.
"Nife, Nife… ha… you will never change… but we are happy to see you back in your usual glam baby girl," Ada said in her usual hyper self. Collins covers my palms with his smile.
"Seriously, I'm the happiest one…"
"Eeh! Talk true," Ada shouted with a deep frown on her forehead and stood up and slapped Collins in his arms.
"You are what??" She argues on. She went on slapping Collins's arm with that fake frown on her forehead.
I shook my head at the two, unbelievable.
"Of course, we both…" Collins explains with a smirk.
"Ehee… less I forgot… Nife, we are having a small get-together," Ada, informs me as she turns to face me.
"Jide, notified me this morning on WhatsApp…" she added as she dipped her right hand inside her handbag looking for something.
"Who are, the we??"
I asked, raising my eyebrows. Collins remains silent by the side watching us both.
"What do you mean? Our group of friends from college, of course. Oh, where the hell did this phone go??" She replies to me at the same time she mumbles in frustration.
I went stiff for some time hearing her mention our friends from college, so many memories played in my mind. That moment, Collins, noticing my sudden behavior change, placed his palm on mine. I turned around to act cool and avoid any unnecessary questions but he beat me to it.
"Hey, are you okay? You can choose not to go, if it makes you uncomfortable…" he suggests in a concerning voice. I rub my face and return to normal expression.
"I'm fine… Collins, l…"
"Yh found you… who's not going anywhere?" Ada, who had finally found what she was looking for, held up her phone towards us.
Collins sighs, I understand the meaning of that sigh. I turn to face Ada who looks so happy about the get-together.
"Oh, it's a one-week thing, and you are not escaping, just the six of us," Ada concluded like it's a must thing, like a do-or-die affair.
"Hey, you can't tell me you are still holding onto the…"
"Ada, nothing like that… l mean nothing like that…"
I cut in, cutting her off while sounding my warnings clear. My brows creased together.
"Then, Why's then…??"
She went on not giving up.
"There's nothing like Why's…" I counter with no expression.
"Is it because of…"
Ada stubbornly continues to pry the words out of me.
"I think that is Enough! Ada…" Collins cut in, his voice sounding very strong. I am already at my limit. At times I wonder if Ada is doing what she's doing on purpose.
"You don't want to drag this out so much, do you??" Collins asked her and got no response from her.
She sighs resignedly and goes to her feet.
