Seething with everything in her, Penny stood transfixed as she watched Topher’s Audi speed away from the compound. Her lips had grown thin in anger. She was very bitter and needed a scapegoat to vent it on. Just who would take the fall? She pondered. Certainly not Bale again because if she was being honest, it wasn’t really his fault but hers. And it pained her to know this truth. Even more, considering that she couldn’t even cry in peace without having to worry about the fate of the world that now depended on her. It was a depressing weight, but sadly she had to carry it. By the time she was done blaming herself for her misfortunes and returned inside, her mom had managed to resuscitate Bale.
