Behind the scenes

"I'm going to have a baby." Morticia announced, wiping her face with a tissue. "Right now."

They had been eating like any other day, so Morticia's words came as a complete surprise.

"It's an Addams!" her father exclaimed.

"Did you forget the condom?" asked Wednesday innocently.

'Where did you learn that word?!'

"From a book."

Tuesday was experiencing successive shocks.

"Thing, Lurch, make the preparations!" Gomez instructed.

Gomez embraced Morticia in a princess hug and kissed her passionately.

Tuesday still couldn't accept the reality of the situation.

'She's kidding, right?'

"I don't think so." replied Wednesday, continuing to eat calmly.

Her words were calm and sincere, instinctively spoken.

Tuesday caught a whiff of blood coming from Morticia.

'Since when...?'

Morticia acted as if everything was normal; her body was slightly rounded, but not enough to indicate she was pregnant.

Tuesday thought perhaps age was catching up with her.

Gomez ran off with Morticia in his arms, followed eagerly by Uncle Fester.

Grandma continued knitting calmly.

Now, the dining room was silent, plates and food scattered around, the floor smeared with blood, food, and broken glass.

'...'

Wednesday calmly finished her meal as if nothing had happened.

'Aren't you surprised?'

She sipped her juice, organized her plate, and headed to the kitchen.

"A little."

Wednesday diligently cleaned her dish and cup with her small hands.

Her words were sincere and straightforward.

'But you don't seem like it.'

"The frequency was high, so it was expected."

Tuesday was left speechless by Wednesday's candor.

Was she the only one who found this strange?

No. Why wasn't she expecting common sense from these people in the first place?

Tuesday decided to stop thinking.

'What will we do now?'

Except for Grandma, the house was empty.

Wednesday usually practiced with Uncle Fester at this time, but the schedule was gone due to the current circumstances.

"Isn't it obvious?" said Wednesday, a mischievous smile covering her face.

This image gave Tuesday goosebumps.

"The dad's office."

*

'You scared me just to read some books?'

"..."

Wednesday was reading a book with an unusually frustrated face.

With a bad mood, she turned the page.

Tuesday knew well why she was reacting so strangely.

Gomez had restricted them from accessing the office just in his presence.

As they ran due to the circumstances, the office was still open for the naughty Wednesday to explore.

But the only thing that was there were books, dust, and sheets.

This frustrated the little Wednesday who created false expectations.

Even without results, Tuesday's instincts kicked madly each time her hands approached the bookshelf.

Something strange was present among those books.

She couldn't let Wednesday know about it.

'Want to play with Homer?'

Wednesday's hands suddenly stopped touching the book.

"Do you know something?"

Her words were sharp, and straight to the point.

How did she realize?

'I'm bored of reading books all day.'

Her eyes stretched with suspicion.

Silence filled the room at their cold war.

"Then, why didn't you ask to take a break?"

'It's not fun if Lurch isn't there.'

"Is that so?"

Her eyes stretched even more; she wasn't convinced at all.

Tuesday wasn't uncomfortable. Did this child think she would win a discussion with her?

She was light years away from achieving this.

A proud smile was raised on her face.

Wait, how was she smiling?

Without her awareness, the control came back to her.

Tuesday quickly covered her smile with her hand, but this was a futile behavior.

Their instincts were being shared; nothing could be hidden.

'Liar.'

These words sent shivers down her spine. The image of a blonde girl piercing her chest appeared in her mind like PTSD.

The same words the girl who killed her had unconsciously said were now spoken by little Wednesday.

Her legs weakened and her body fell to the ground. Her heart was beating desperately.

'Spill it out.'

At her words, Tuesday came back to her senses again.

Her heart kept beating like crazy. She couldn't let her know!

She tried to switch her body again, but it was like a strong wall forcing her to stay.

Tuesday didn't give up. She focused her mind and tried to switch again.

'I did it!'

She successfully switched again.

Before she could properly enjoy her victory, a strange sensation came from her right arm.

A characteristic mark of teeth was there.

The sudden pain unfocused her mind, creating a gap in her control.

Wednesday wouldn't miss this opportunity. The body again fell under her control.

"You brat!"

'I can do this all day,' she said provocatively. Anger boiled up in her mind as if something had broken.

Tuesday didn't like to admit it, but her mind power was inferior compared to Wednesday's.

She gave up switching bodies and focused on what she could handle.

Tuesday managed her facial expressions and closed her eyes to avoid providing any visual information.

Then, she ran with all her might to the door.

Seconds later, her foot tripped over the other.

As her body fell to the ground, she used her right arm to crawl to the door.

Her left arm grabbed the other, stopping her movements and tearing her head down onto the ground.

Bam!

If someone else had seen her state, ten out of ten people would agree she was possessed by an evil spirit.

Fortunately, the only being witnessing it was Homer, the little spider huddled in the corner of the wall, scared.

'Spill it out!'

"Not even dead!"

Their bodies rolled on the ground until both hit the infamous bookshelf.

"Ah!" shouted Tuesday, protecting her face from the falling books.

Her danger sense triggered by which book touching her body.

Just one red and peculiar book remained on the bookshelf.

Against her will, one hand held a book. Curious eyes blew up.

'Damn'

Wednesday's hands curiously approached the red book.

Another hand stopped her curious hand.

At the same time, a wide smile appeared on her face.

"The book!"

'Don't do it! It's dangerous!'

At the word "dangerous" an emotion blew up in her chest.

It was exciting and joyful.

With all her might Wednesday touched the book.

'No...!' shouted Tuesday, dramatically.

"..."

But nothing happened.

'?'

Both were confused by the scene in front of their eyes.

Strangely the strange sensation still was appearing from the bookshelf.

Tuesday quickly came back to her senses.

'...You're so naive.' she said, trying to deceive the small Wednesday.

At her words, Wednesday cautiously approached her hands from the bookshelf.

The bookshelf moved revealing a dark secret passage.

"Wow" admired Wednesday.

It was dark, full of dust, and totally suspect. A normal person never would approach carelessly.

The small Homer climbed onto her shoulder, despite her eccentric behavior.

'We shouldn't stay here.' said Tuesday, fear present in her voice.

Without hesitation, Wednesday entered the secret passage.

Tuesday's words had not even entered her ears, her eyes were shining from curiosity.

Her boring life was finally having something fun.

Light suddenly turned on in the dark room, revealing a huge amount of gold, old relics, and swords.

Wednesday's eyes didn't pay attention to these elegant objects or piles of gold. Her eyes were seeing a dark and old door at the end of the room.

Step Step

Each step gave shivers in her body. The door was emanating an incredibly dense dark energy.

Wednesday stopped in front of the suspect door and touched the doorknob.

'Stop.'

Wednesday's hands stopped at her words as if she realized what she had done.

'If you open it, your life will be in danger.'

Said Tuesday in a rare cold tone.

Wednesday could notice the seriousness in her voice, it was the first time she heard Tuesday talking this way with her.

Tuesday usually acted cheerful and kind, but there was a topic she never made concessions: Wednesday's security.

Tuesday's instincts were saying that if they opened this door, maybe they never will come back again.

Wednesday reluctantly took her hands off the door.

All the lights in the room were turned off. The sound of a door opening slowly welcomed her ears.

Tuesday quickly took control of the body and tried to run, but a strange force threw her towards the door.

The last thing they heard was the sound of the door closing.

They were completely locked in the strange and dark room.

Without means to escape.
