Chapter 8

Manik started banging the table. He was mad at himself. Utterly mad.

What the hell, he thought. He was just trying to distract her from her hiccups, wasn't he?! Why did she behave like a wild cat scribbling all over his armani suit. She is a total nut case. What does she think of herself. She is not even my type. Ugghhhh!!! He was trying to convince himself hopelessly.

What did I do, he nervously started walking around. No way, he thought he should be really careful henceforth. This girl got the worst out of him. He never was out of control.

He was just stomping his foot and walking all over his cabin restlessly.

Maddy after getting his trousers cleaned came to meet Manik and started laughing hysterically after seeing his white suit with new doodles.

Manik shrugged "Done with laughing, dear brother? This is done by that mad team mate of yours, Ms. Murthy. I was just trying to help her out. And then she...." He stopped abruptly thinking he shouldn't let Maddy know what really happened.

Maddy wiggled his eyebrows "Bro, you too got terrorized by that little Ms. Arrogant? She has made my life hell too. We had big tiff today. Why don't you fire her? I agree she is a very good employee but she seems to be too kiddish."

Manik said anxiously "No Maddy, she is exceptionally good with her work we can't just fire her. I agree she is kiddish but you are no less. I know you must have done some mischief as well. Stop doing such things, just grow up bro. Come on let's go home."

Both left in their white Mercedes.

Nandini after coming home excused herself saying she had a bad headache. She sat on her bed and tears started rolling uncontrollably. She didn't bother to stop them.

After sometime she got a message on her phone from Manik. "Look I was just trying to distract you from your hiccups. Please don't misunderstand me. Its nothing personal and definitely I am not sorry because I was just trying to help you out, rather, you should be sorry for spoiling my suit :/."

After reading the message Nandini lost it. She stopped crying and decided to resolve this matter. She thought she should teach a lesson to her unprofessional boss and then she refreshed herself and decided something in her mind and drifted off to peaceful sleep.

Manik entered the office and glared at Nandini.

Nandini too snapped her head up and saw him, her heart started doing summersaults. She was finding it hard to be normal but calmed herself saying she has to teach him a lesson. Manik just walked away to his cabin. He started settling in his seat and then he got a call. He smiled looking at caller id and went to his private room.

Seeing him go inside, Nandini entered his cabin slowly and took out adhesive transparent glue and spread the entire tube across his chair. She grinned and got back to her seat "Now Mr. Boss man, you will enjoy glued to the chair. Enjoy. Bwahhaaaa." She was trying hard to control her laugh, she even gave a pat on her back. Soon she got engaged with her work forgetting all her mischief.

After an hour she glanced through his cabin and for her surprise it was Maddy who was sitting on Manik's chair who was seriously working on his laptop.

Nandini smacked on her forehead "What the hell!! Where is Manik? Now Maddy will definately know its definitely me. Oh god what did I do."She became restless thinking about the consequences.

Manik and Maddy were discussing something and then decided to go to meeting room for the meeting which was starting in next few minutes. Maddy tried to get up from his chair but he just couldn't. He tried hard but all his efforts were invain. Manik was surprised seeing his stunts. He thought it must be one of his good old mischievous antics.

"Bro, I m in trouble. I m not able to get up, seems like your chair loves me loads. Help me please." Maddy pleaded. Manik tried pulling him hard but he couldn't be of much help too.

"What to do? Your presence is very important for this meeting. Come along with your chair since it has wheels it won't be a big deal. I will make sure you won't have to get up." Saying this they headed to the meeting room making sure nobody noticed them.

Meeting was over in next one hour and everybody left. Nandini was typing something on her laptop and then she saw Maddy still struggling to get up. She just couldn't control and she started coughing to hide her laugh.

Manik was observing her and her deliberate cough definitely made him doubt her. Somehow, Nandini managed to look serious and left the meeting room.

After going to her seat she started laughing histerically. Manik who had followed her without her knowledge, noticed all this. Manik's doubts were cleared, he thought its definitely her doing.

Manik took Maddy to his private room and asked him to change his pant as that was the only way to get rid of that sticky chair. He gave him spare pant and left the room.

Manik started thinking. This girl has got lots of guts to play pranks on me. He chuckled.

Bring it on Ms. Murthy lets see who wins.

Maddy now got rid of chair and thanked his brother and left.

Manik called Nandini to his cabin. Nandini slowly entered his cabin and was praying that he shouldn't doubt her.

Manik asked her to take a seat she took a look at seat and was hesitant to sit. Manik snickered. "Ms. Murthy, don't worry I don't have time to put glue on your seat you can sit, its a normal glue free chair."

Nandini was shocked her mouth was wide open, jaw dropped and she found it hard to look at him. Quietly she sat on the chair still bending her head down like a kid as if she has been caught by her teacher.

Manik said "Ms. Murthy every Diwali we have grand gala arranged through our bank and its one of the most sought out affair. Everyone looks forward to it. So, this time it's entirely your responsibility to handle each and everything, from caterers to decors to performers theme, everything. And I hate any tiniest blunders, make sure you don't give me chance to fire you just show me the best."

Nandini thought yea right, this was so easy internally cursing Manik for giving her such unwanted and unexpected responsibility.

"Ok Manik, I will try my level best, hopefully you don't have to fire me." Saying this she stomped off towards her seat

Manik smirked.

Nandini was trying hard to keep her calm and concentrate on her work but she was really tensed about new responsibility and she knew Manik had deliberately handed over it to her but she decided to leave it on time, go with the flow and just give her best.
