CHAPTER 4

"What happened to your arms?" Kaye asked, looking intently at Alyana's arms. Alyana smiled at her while shaking her head.

"Ah, it was just an accident. Nothing serious," she replied, but Kaye didn't seem to believe what she said. She knows her friend very well, and it's easy for her to figure out if she's telling the truth or not.

"And do you think I'll believe you?" she asked her. Alyana smiled even more, thinking that her friend, even living far from her for years, didn't forget her habits. She stood up first and went to the counter to order food. They decided to go to the nearest coffee shop in the company. Nix wouldn't be mad or disagree as long as Kaye asked something to him. Being half siblings inside a wealthy family didn't let them treat each other as nothing or rivals, instead they cared for each other, especially that Kaye was also the reason why Nix and Alyana met.

"You still remember me," Alyana replied. Her heart was filled with happiness seeing her friend sitting in front of her at that moment.

"Yes, I am sorry I didn't came back earlier. I was busy pursuing my dreams in other countries that I forgot I also need to chill sometimes. We lost communication but I didn't forget anything about you. Nix went to the U.S first so I think it's just right that he came back earlier than me," Kaye replied, chuckling.

"It's fine, so when are you coming back again?" Alyana asked, trying to divert the topic onto something else.

Kaye raised her eyebrows once again, while crossing her arms in the chest.

"Are you telling me to go back where I came from?" she jokingly asked.

Scratching the tip of her nose, Alyana smiled at her. It seems like her friend didn't change and she was so happy knowing that she still remembers her. In the 5 years of no communication, Alyana thought they wouldn't ever cross their paths again.

"No, it's not what I meant. I just want to know if you will still go back there so we can have some time to get along these days," Alyana sincerely replied which made Kaye's heart flutter.

"I will stay here for good, mom keeps on telling me to go back here since her business' main branch is in this country and she doesn't really get along with Nix. You know my brother, he is a monster," Kaye playfully said. Alyana can't hide her laughter hearing her friend calling her own brother that way. Ever since, they have liked to joke with each other. Alyana witnessed how they supported one another at that time, until now. Nix doesn't want to get along with other people besides those one he can trust but he is very considerate and loving to those people he cares about. Alyana's thoughts went to those days when Nix was always protecting her from the bullies who wanted to hurt her whenever her illness was attacking.

While Alyana was in her deep thoughts of the past, Kaye took her phone and texted Nix to go where they are. Knowing him, he will just simply grant her wish if it was just a simple one.

Nix smiled while looking at his phone, but hid it when he realized that Sarah was still in his office, seeing the text of his sister made him excited.

"Babe, can you please close this for me?" Sarah seductively asks while biting her lower lips, showing the zipper of her back fitted dress but Nix just ignores her, instead he sat on his chair and looked at his phone, thinking if he should go where Kaye and Alyana were.

Sarah walks towards Nix and is about to sit on his lap when he pulls back his swivel chair away from her, making her stumble on the wire that was connected to one of the devices inside the room.

"O-ouch," she mumbled.

"Didn't I tell you to leave?" Nix coldly asked, glaring at the woman in front of him who was trying to get up.

"I don't want to, I went here because I want to see my fiance. Why don't you just accept it? You are already mine, Nix, only mine." Sarah stated with confidence, however Nix just sarcastically laughed which made Sarah frown.

"I don't belong to anyone, remember that woman. Especially not to you," he said and stood up. Sarah, even hurt, smirked at him.

"Why? Do you like that girl? Compared to me, she's ugly and a nobody. She doesn't deserve someone like you, I am way better than her." Nix's ears seem to burn because of what he heard. He glared at Sarah, which made her feel scared.

"Say that again and I'll rip off your tongue out of your mouth."

She didn't expect him to say those words so because of fear she stepped backwards, away from Nix.

"Whatever you will say, I am certain you will never fall in love with a girl like her. I know you like someone who can give you all your needs and desires, you can get all of that from me." Sarah said with her chin up, she then took her bag and walked towards Nix and tried to kiss him, but he immediately avoided her. He really doesn't want to hurt a woman, but because Sarah was already getting into his nerves, he can't control himself, especially that she was bad mouthing the woman he loves, Alyana.

"Get yourself out of here woman or else I might do something inappropriate to you," he said with a cold tone. Sarah just smiled at him, fear was already visible in her and she knew that Nix was aware of that. Nix was the kind of person you won't dare to fight with, and no one can even look him straight in the eyes whenever he was furious.

"Okay babe, I will be back tomorrow. Bye," she said and walked out of the office. Nix closed his eyes and punched the table, maybe if he didn't control himself he would do such not so good things to her right away, however the image of Alyana smiling at him makes him calmer. He cleared his throat first and took his phone to text his sister Kaye that he would go there.

On the other hand, Kaye smiled seeing the reply of her brother. Kaye was older than him so he was always listening to her since they were young. They don't have the same mother but still, she treats Nix very well.

"He will come here," Kaye said and sip her coffee, which made Alyana look at her.

"Who? Your boyfriend?" she asked, confused but she smiled. Kaye raised her eyebrows at her after that.

"Do I look like I have a boyfriend? I'm single, so are you free tonight? Let's go boy hunting," she said, winking.

"I don't know, but I will do all I can to go with you. Maybe I just need to drink a lot of coffee so that I will not get a goodnight sleep there," Alyana replied. Kaye nodded at her and looked at her phone again, it was a vibrating indication of someone's calling. She answered it right away when she saw who that person was.

"Where are you now?" she asked. Alyana stared at her and listen to them, she was not sure who's Kaye was talking with but she want to know what they were talking about, not being a gossiper but she likes hearing news or something like story about someone and making a conclusion about what she can do on that kind of situation or problem, if they were facing one. She likes putting her feet on someone's shoes when the person is experiencing something she hasn't experienced yet.

Alyana got back to reality when someone flicked her forehead. She looked around and saw Kaye frowning at her.

"Hm, why?" she asked, but felt like a bit sleepy which made her yawn.

"I am asking you, do you like to come to our house this weekend? You are not listening, where are your thoughts? It's so deep," Kaye said.

"Ah, I don't know. I'll try my best," she said. Kaye sighed, but smiled eventually while looking at Alyana's back, she then waved her hands to someone.

"Here!" she shouted, Alyana looked back just to see her boss walking towards them with his poker face.

"Why did you ask me to come?" he directly asked. Alyana moved a bit when Nix sat beside her. She can now smell his perfume that she recommended to him since when they were young because she really wants the smell of it. He was still using it until now.

"Why? Can't I invite you here? Don't you want to see me? I just arrived yesterday and you didn't even pay me a visit, I hate you." Kaye said and rolled her eyes.

"I am planning to visit you tonight," Nix said. He then took a glance at Alyana who was busy eating her favorite cheese flavored cake.

'She's cute' he thought, but panicked when he saw that Alyana was coughing, she almost choked. He immediately grabbed the glass of water and gave it to her.

"Hey, careful. No one's taking your food," Kaye said.

"T-thanks," Alyana said and stood up. "Ah, I will just go to the restroo—"

"Oh my gosh, Alyana!"
