Waifu Catalog: Power Trip

I blink for a few seconds while looking around. The last thing I remember is that I'm about to go to bed after filling out the CYOA called Waifu Catalog my friend gave me, but why in the hell am I waking up in the middle of the forest?

I can feel panic start to build up, but before it can take over me, something falls into my head. It was an envelope.

I open it, and I can see a letter inside the envelope. I open the letter and start to read it.

Thank you for filling out the application, Agent Gerrald (ID: RY-245-J). After checking your character and seeing that you are a fit for our company, the company decided to accept your application and make you our new agent.

We already transfer you and all your perks to your designation world. We also sent Company Smart Device, which already has a company shopping app that lets you buy talent, defense, and waifu.

This device is in the form of a Smartphone, something that you should be familiar with.

Other than shopping apps, this device can also track your capture progress. We also need to inform you that we have a mission for you if you want extra points to buy more talent and defense.

We also provide missions you can take when you are in your current world. Check the Mission app and take as many missions as you want. However, I need to remind you that you can only abandon one mission, and if you fail to complete your mission, points will be deducted from your wallet.

The last one is money exchange. You will be given ten thousand USD every month, and you can change that money in the Money Exchange App on the device.

I look at the paper in my hand in shock. The CYOA I fill is not a fun game but rather a job application?! What kind of company put them on a public website famous for their interactive CYOA game?!

I take a deep breath and start to think. I'm not angry they put me in a new world. I'm happy in fact for that. Earth is boring, and I want some kind of adventure, and this gives me that. What makes me angry is that they did not tell me about this job application and instead made it look like a game.

I prefer them to tell me first before sending me here. Oh well. I cannot stay mad at them because I know which world this is! This is the world of my favorite game since I was a child: Suikoden Series.

Or, more specifically, Suikoden V: Sun Run War. Suikoden V is my second favorite in the Suikoden Series. The story is located in the Queendom of Falena, where one of the twenty-seven True Rune.

What is a True Rune, you may ask. Well, to explain that, I need to explain what a rune is first.

Rune is a crystal of power that is born from the planet itself. Each crystal can grant the user a few spells that do not require any mana to use, and the more affinity you have with a certain rune, the more powerful the spell will be.

As for the True Rune, they are the more powerful version of the rune. How powerful? Without them, this universe will not exist. That is how powerful they are. One of them is called The Rune of Life and Death, or Soul Eater to some people is the one controlling the Death and Life of the universe.

And I want one of them under my command.

A perk of having one of them attached to your soul and body. It will give you immortality and immense power. Any of the True Rune will do. As long as I get those, I'm good.

And one of the twenty-seven True Rune is in this Queendom. The True Rune of this place is the Sun Rune, and it was the rune that controlled the sun. I don't know how to attach the rune, but I know who can do it, and if I capture her, I can get the Sun Rune for myself.

However, I need to make sure I can get closer to her first and make a plan to attach the Sun Rune for myself.

Lucky for me, I got the template from Chrodechil from Suikoden Tierkreis. She is a powerful swordmaster and has quite good mana. The reason why I decided to take all her talent and power is because of that reason.

I shake my head and take out the smartphone from my pocket. The letter says something about the mission. I turn it on and quickly go to the mission section. I can see there are two missions I can take in this world.

The first one is to join the Star of Destiny and help the Main Character to attain his happy ending. When I'm done with this mission, I will get eighty points, and there are three more bonus objectives. I will get five more points if I can recruit ten Stars of Destiny. If I can recruit twenty, I will get ten points. If I can get thirty, I will get twenty-five points.

As for the second mission… It complicates things.

The mission is telling me to get a True Rune and sell them to the company. Sadly, I can only get one, and it needs a delicate approach. I cannot sell them; while eighty points sound great, it is not enough.

I decided to take the first mission. Seeing it become an active mission, I nod and open the map app. I bought this map, and I will use it.

After opening the app, I can see all the cities that I know from the game. By the look of it, I'm near Estrise, the most eastern point of the Queendom of Falena. Estrise is a port town where many merchants stop if they want to sell their goods to the Queendom.

A perfect place for me.

I smile and take away my phone before walking to the east, to Estrise City.
