Chapter 18

In a town called Candrin, a man walks through the Guild's doors. the man looked exhausted, his clothes and armor ragged, and his single gauntlet was scraped and torn. with dried up tears, blood and mud on the face, he walks up to the human receptionist Zinia, and starts talking.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I get to the receptionist I, give her Zach's guild card and tell her about what happened in the mission. after she hears about the death of my teammates, Kell who was standing next to her quickly runs to inform the Guild Master. Kell later returns and guides me to a private room.

Inside the room was a simple table and chairs. sitting on one of the chairs was the guild Master Trent, a brawny Dark Elf, who was a Brawler like myself. on the table sat a crystal ball the size of an adults fist, and documents with mine and my ex-teammates information.

Trent asks me about what happened, whilst taking glances at the crystal ball. from the look of it, I assumed that it could tell if i lied, thus I start telling them about how everything was going fine.

Until a stampede of over 50 monsters appeared, Sal and Maika launched themselves at an unstoppable monster, but they were killed by unknown means... which did truly happen but I didn't say that the unstoppable monster was me.

whilst we were panicking, Lukas had launched a great magic, he sacrificed his own body to destroy the monsters... which was not a lie either. me and Zack managed to escape, but Zack couldn't take the loss of his precious friend, thus he quit and told me to deliver his guild card.

My version of the story was vague enough that, none of what I said was a lie. Trent looked shocked and angered at the fact of losing so many good men.

I asked if I could take some time off to think and readjust, to which Trent agreed. but in secret Trent had some people keep tabs on me.

after the examination I went to my lodging and didn't leave for a day, not even for food. not because I was devastated by my friends deaths, but because I wanted my tail to think that I was mourning their death.

The next day I walked around town with a sullen expression, I wondered around until I found a local blacksmith and asked if I could work for a bit as I was short on money.

The blacksmith agreed only after testing my skills at weapon making.Few days after working at the blacksmith, I decided to use some of the Copperback metals that I got from the mission.

Even tho the Copperback's horns were mostly copper, they had absorbed astronomical amounts of mana from the monster and if I made equipment from them, it would be at least be 4 times better than my previous silver and copper enchanted gauntlets and boots.

The Copperback metals included iron, gold and tiny bits of tungsten. with those I worked for 2 weeks until I managed to make proper Gauntlets and arm guards that went up to my elbows.

With 「Magic Enchantment(low)」and the Runes I recently learned, I managed to enhance their power output and my movement speed.

I had not yet made new Boots because my old ones were still in good shape and I also got information from rumors that in a nearby ruins a Golem was spotted, that could not be knocked down no matter how hard they hit it...

and that is the most important thing that I need at the moment. with the Golem's ability, I could charge in towards enemies without worrying about flying to the other side of the planet
