Lucas was a high school student who took two part-time jobs simultaneously to support himself and his ill grandma. Her illness would only get worse and no medicine could heal her except for a very expensive procedure that no amount of part-time jobs could cover. But one day, a door to a new world opened up to him, a world where there’s magic, cultivation, and constant wars between kingdoms and empires. Moreover, Lucas was chosen by an unknown entity that gave him unimaginable power that was coveted by the immortal beings of the other world. Through joining the wars and the struggles for power, Lucas would use his blood, sweat, and tears to get all the money he wanted in the world for his grandma and the inhuman powers that come along with it. Although at the cost of his morals and sanity, Lucas was ready to do everything to get what he wished for.
'Shit.'
Lucas instantly noticed what kind of weapon Tom was holding in his hand.
Even with enhanced senses that were capable of seeing things in almost slow motion, there was no chance that Lucas would be able to outrun a bullet.
Fortunately, Lucas also realized that fact and instantly threw out all the invincibility that he felt before.
The second he saw the gun pointing at him, Lucas didn't waste a single second to try and move his body out of the way.
When the bang resounded and the gun was fired, Lucas was barely able to move his body far enough that the bullet's trajectory wouldn't hit his body anymore.
Unfortunately though, he still wasn't fast enough to be completely unscathed.
Although the bullet did indeed miss his chest, the same couldn't be said as it hit Lucas' arm.
Lucas felt an acute pain in his arm, a few inches under his shoulder as the bullet was shot there.
However, when Lucas took a good look at his left arm, he realized that despite the pain, his arm was still just fine.
The bullet didn't bounce off of his arm as if his arm was made of titanium or anything and red blood does flow out of Lucas' arm.
But the wound was nothing like a gunshot wound. It was more as if Lucas had been cut by a kitchen knife. A shallow one at that.
It was enough to make blood slowly flow out, but it wasn't deep enough that it wouldn't stop bleeding after a minute.
It hurt nonetheless, but it wasn't at the level of an injury that could incapacitate him.
'See? Even if you got a pig brain in your head, you still wouldn't lose this fight.' Maya's voice resounded in Lucas' head, still speaking calmly as if a gun was nothing to be worried about.
Lucas' heart stopped when he saw the gun being pointed at him, but now after seeing a gun, the weapon that all mankind feared, couldn't even pierce his body that deep to make significant damage, Lucas regained back the superiority that he felt before.
Lucas wasn't the only one that was surprised by the outcome. Tom, who had steeled his nerves and had made dozens of plans to get away with murder, was also shocked beyond belief.
'Impossible…That's impossible…He simply isn't human anymore…'
All the thoughts inside his head disappeared as he stared at the teenage boy in front of him, easily shrugging off a gunshot wound as if it were a paper cut.
Tom just stood there motionlessly, lost in his own mind and disbelief before finally woken up when he saw Lucas' body turned to a blur once again.
He saw how fast Lucas moved and how the 10 people he brought with him couldn't even react properly to Lucas' attacks.
And right now, Lucas' target was none other than himself.
Seeing what Lucas had done to his men, Tom didn't waste a single second as he raised his gun once again, aiming to shoot Lucas.
He didn't want either his shoulder or shins broken. Considering what he had done and he was the one bringing the problem straight to Lucas' face, Tom doubted that he would get any better treatment than the other people.
He cast away any thoughts of fearing to murder another human being on Earth and started emptying his cartridge.
Tom made sure his gun lined up with Lucas' body, but as if Lucas could predict where he would shoot, Lucas' body moved faster than ever as he dodged every single one of Tom's attacks.
Tom still had more bullets in his gun, but with him and Lucas only about a dozen meters apart, it didn't take longer than 3 seconds for Lucas to arrive in front of Tom's face.
Lucas' hand quickly shopped downward, hitting and breaking Tom's hands that had been faithfully holding onto the gun as if his life depended on it.
The gun fell to the floor, which Lucas quickly stomped with the ball of his feet to make sure no one else would do anything funny.
With the enhancement, his body was strong enough to bend a metal crowbar, and a poor-quality handgun was no different.
The handgun soon had its tip turned flat from Lucas' feet and became unusable for anyone.
As for Tom, Lucas stared at the man who now only had fear in his eyes when looking at him.
Tom's hands were already broken from his chop and he wasn't a threat anymore in Lucas' eyes.
However, there's just this certain feeling in his heart that compelled him to hit the man once again using his full power.
There's this want of crushing Tom's face with his own hand.
He was enjoying a nice chat with an old friend when Tom suddenly appeared with his smug face.
He even dared to threaten him with 10 men and felt that he was superior.
'I can't stand it. He thought that he could just do whatever he wanted with me. Who does he think he is!?'
Those nagging feelings kept on appearing in Lucas' mind and each time he thought about it, more and more his fist was balled and ready to cave in Tom's face with his knuckles.
'I will show him his place… A weakling should never dare-'
Lucas' train of thought suddenly stopped when he realized what he had thought of doing.
'Since when did I think about being a superior being…'
Lucas shook his head left and right, trying to scatter the dangerous thoughts in his head.
He had never thought about such things before and it felt like the thought came out of nowhere.
'It's normal, Lucas. The thought of an ordinary mortal who couldn't even take a single one of your punches dared to mess with you and tried to make himself the superior one.
Any cultivator, even one known for their patience, wouldn't let the mortal walk back with two of their legs intact.'
Hearing Maya's voice and explanation, Lucas soon found out where his thoughts originated from.
The superior power that he felt from having his body enhanced with mana. The indisputable proof that his strength was enough to break human bones even when using only 50% of his full power.
All that stuff got into Lucas' head as even now, he struggled to keep his hands to his side, trying not to kill the human being in front of him.
Sorry for the missed update on 27, was very busy with college stuff, I will try to make it up ASAP
