Coincidence.

This is a very peculiar feminine noun because of its implications. Coincidence suggests a simultaneous occurrence and has similar or equal results..., for example, the most common similar result is death; it can occur in several ways, but simultaneously. The coincidence can also be reversed. Similar occurrences cause different results. Even opposites. Like a father dying on the day of his child's birth or the like.

This world is full of coincidences. Add are visible, while others are less so. There are mysterious circumstances that suggest almost determination. Can destiny really take place in a world run by free beings? A question that has plagued philosophers and theologians for years. There are many theoretical currents that demand some kind of answer, but none have ever been able to. Would we be the result of the imagination of some superior being? A set of metadata in a virtual reality simulator? Are we real? Are our thoughts really ours?

Other very troubling questions are those that concern death, life, reincarnation, and other tricky things on the same level, like the inevitability of time and limited human perception that suggest we live in a 3-dimensional universe. Space physics at its best, huh?

Questions like these have asked thousands of people, generally, men, bald and stressed. Many of these men spend their lives ignoring everything around them in order to get an answer, yet they never find any answer.

Was fatalism the answer?

Well, not that it mattered, since our hero was kind of a cynic. "Whether I'm a show, dream, real or not, it doesn't matter to me in the least. Living is more important than thinking about such depressing things." thought the young man who was considering the texts he read for a college job. Philosophy was one of the tensest disciplines, in the opinion of the boy, who preferred less ethereal or abstract components. The philosophy just unnerved him more than women who enjoyed yaoi. It wouldn't be strange for a man to like yaoi, after all, yaoi was nothing more than gay porn and every man had that moment when he considered sex with another man, but women had no logical reason to like it. The Same for Philosophy. It is normal for him that philosophers formerly enjoyed thinking about such boring things, there was no television or 'internet' at that time, so thinking was excusable, but now? There was no such excuse! So that subject was something he abhorred. Math, physics, and chemistry are his favorite subjects. Of course, that didn't mean he would skip the job. None of that.

He would read. He would interpret. Furthermore, he would develop his thesis of it. He would write and send it to the teacher as soon as he finished. That was the young man's policy, even if he didn't like the subject he was broaching. There was no getting away from him. The boy's policy was that if society demands it, then many people consented to those demands. If so many people in society can make such sacrifices, then there's no reason for him to think he's special.

Our young man was a pretty steady student, but he wasn't uptight like most academic nerds he'd met. He reported at least once a week, going to spares and motels occasionally. Sex was a welcome distraction for the virile, 23-year-old hormonal. Besides being a healthy way to reset the mind. Taking advantage of modern life, that's what he called his monthly adventures (motels). He sincerely loved being born at the end of the 20th century. If he went to the beginning he would have to go through two world wars and a lot of hard social shit to put up with. Well, anyway, he was quite self-conscious and never exaggerated his physical status.

But today he was quite tired. The work in question was supposed to be done in a group, but his classmates were lazy bastards and did not want to help him, so all he could do was send a message to his teacher and deliver the work himself. As far as he is concerned, he was forced to read texts and more texts, record important excerpts for quotations, develop a thesis, and write about it in long 50 odd pages. So it was no surprise that he was busy most of the month.

It's been the first month since he entered University that he hasn't had weekly breaks. It was the first time he had gone so long without having sex. Although his entire routine remained as healthy as before and his stress levels were manically controlled.

So after finishing the job and proofreading for the 4th time for common types, our hero emailed the file to the teacher, he took a long hot shower, put on his most comfortable pajamas (old underwear with a basketball jersey wide since it was winter, and he wouldn't depend on a heater without options in case of failure) and went to sleep the sleep of champions.

"May Morpheus welcome me into his dream realm." Thought the young man in silent prayer with a happy smile.
