Constant upgrades!

Back in the hellish domain, Alex reclined on the scorching ground, gazing up at the dark sky. He shifted his attention to the shop system, sifting through various purchase options.

"[Do you wish to purchase River Styx? Cost: 1000 hell points.]

[Do you wish to purchase a Ferryman? Requires River Styx Level 2. Cost: 1500 hell points.]"

Alex grumbled at the exorbitant prices. "This stuff's too expensive right now... next!"

Frustration welled within him as he continued browsing.

"[Do you wish to purchase a Medium Punishment Zone, Spearhead Valley? Cost: 100 hell points.]

[This valley is a zone where 5 demons can be assigned to throw spears covered in scorching hellfire at the souls.]"

Alex's interest was piqued. "System, how much to level this up twice?"

"[The first level up requires 90 hell points, with the following upgrade requiring 170 hell points. The final result is a valley where 20 demons can be assigned to throw spears covered in scorching hellfire—20 times more powerful than regular hellfire—at sinful souls.]"

"**Purchased!**" Alex declared with satisfaction, taking advantage of his remaining 269 points.

With the medium punishment zone secured, he placed it strategically westward of the hell gate. However, his thoughts were interrupted by a slew of notifications.

"[Completed quest: Attain a Medium-Sized Punishment Zone! Reward: 20 stat points.]

[Completed quest: Gain more than 500 souls. Reward: 40 common demon shards, 5 stat points.]

[Completed quest: Possess 50+ demons. Reward: x3 small punishment zones, Execution Zone, Eyeball Harvesting Zone, Beatdown Zone.]"

Alex skimmed through the notifications with growing excitement. "I haven't even looked at my quests yet… ha, I'm already OP!"

Then, he noticed the astonishing number of souls he had accrued.

"[Your demons have destroyed 3 villages, bringing in many hundreds of souls:

- 345 fearful souls [Low Quality, convertible into 345 hell points]

- 230 fearful souls [Medium Quality, convertible into 1150 hell points]

- 60 fearful souls [High Quality, convertible into 600 hell points]]

'What the hell?! Is this game broken?! Oh my God! WHAT?! CONVERT, CONVERT, CONVERT!!!!'

"[Affirmative, you now possess 2004 hell points in total.]"

Alex took a moment to collect himself. 'Hoo… Calm yourself, Alex, calm yourself.'

'Those demons sure are doing their jobs, huh?'

Suddenly, the gates of hell swung open, unleashing nearly a thousand souls. Their initial confusion swiftly turned to terror as they beheld the vicious expressions of the three demons, and the sounds of their piercing screams filled the air once more.

From the cave, 40 ferocious demons emerged, each relatively small with red and black goblin-like features, adorned with menacing horns.

Just to the left of the gates of hell, a small platform with five execution stands sat atop erupted. In front of this platform lay a shallow pit in the ground containing a few weapons—this was the execution zone and the beatdown zone.

On the right side, immediately following the lava pool zone, a small platform appeared. It was enclosed by blue shower curtains and featured a roof made of straw. Inside the curtains, a few chairs resembling those found in dentists' offices were arranged. Nearby lay a tray of strange-looking tools—this was clearly the eyeball harvesting zone.

Alex surveyed his expanding dominion with pride and astonishment. 'Woah… this game should be completed easily! It's pretty much a really detailed idle game!'

"System, assign the 3 rare demons and 17 common demons to the spearhead valley. Assign 3 more demons to the lava pool and 1 to each of the new small zones."

[Affirmative]

Curiosity piqued, Alex checked his status.

'Perfect!' Alex's eerie grin seemed to stretch beyond his ears.

...

Emma sat in the break room, her fellow nurse, Sarah, chatting animatedly beside her.

However,  Emma's mind occasionally wandered, and concern for Alex weighed on her thoughts.

'How are we going to live if he just sits at home all day….we are struggling with money! He needs to get a job soon…..sigh…i wonder what he's doing now'

She couldn't shake the feeling of worry, knowing he was currently without a job and left to his own devices.

.....

Alex sat atop his scythe in the centre of his hell, contemplating his next moves. The quests before him held intriguing promises of power and expansion. He couldn't resist the allure of completing them all.

[Have 1000 souls in your hell, Reward: 20 uncommon demon shards, 10 stat points

Reap 10 super fearful souls, Reward: small demon lord castle

Have 1000 demons under you, Reward: Mystery

Have 10,000 souls in your hell, Reward: expansion of land

....]

'Ho? It's decided then! All quests shall be completed this instant!'

"Let's get to work," he muttered to himself.

But just as he was about to dive back into his demon-infested domain, his virtual world went dark, and the ominous "Disconnecting" message appeared.

"Oh, not again," Alex grumbled.

His annoyance grew as his phone rang incessantly. Jacob's name flashed on the screen. Jacob, a friend from his high school days, was known for his persistent and somewhat annoying calls.

Alex reluctantly answered, his impatience evident. "What?"

"Hey, man! Wanna play with us?" Jacob's loud and enthusiastic voice boomed through the phone.

Alex pondered for a moment. Playing some shooter games with his friends could allow for lord of hell to idle and tons of loot was to be before him a few hours later

"Yeah, sure," he finally agreed.
