Chapter Thirty Seven

I wanted to say that my rib pain was getting better, but that was a lie. It was getting worse. I couldn't bear it for much longer. Kai led us toward a camp with at least 5 large tents, several campfires, and a few lookouts. As we approached, one of them, a man dressed in dark brown furs with his upper body exposed, stopped us. "Halt! Who dares enter the camp at this hour?"

"It is I, Kai Yin, Descendant of Thi." Kai waved his arm high so they could see. The man raised his torch and squinted his eyes.

"The Royal?"

"Yes," Kai cleared his throat. "Pardon my intrusion, but I must speak with Lord Alfie right away."

"You do not appear to be a Royal." The lookout snorted. "Prove it."
