If He Will Have Me

[NOUR]

For the next month, no one saw Nour; not his father, his friends, and certainly not the omegas who were always checking his house. They had seen the damage that Grant had done and frankly, they had believed that he had taken the road away from home.

Anhora had been a devastated best friend, especially since the omegas didn't have any way of communicating with each other, other than just talking. They didn't have wolves so mind links were never an option for them.

Oh, how Anhora was worried.

So, when Nour walked back into the Omega quarters, a month after his disappearance, everyone was curious to know what had happened.

"Where have you been?"

"Are you okay?"

"You violated a thousand rules in your disappearance, Abdallah."

"Is it true that you are mated to the enforcer?" one of the voices said and that got Nour's attention. No one in the kingdom knew he was mated to the enforcer other than the enforcer himself and the junior warrior.

Of course, the people in the palace knew too but they were sworn to secrecy and his father would definitely never do that. Which only meant that there was only one person who could have done that.

Delbert Cornell.

"Where the fuck did you even hear such absurd rumors?" Nour asked, clearly not sure if Grant would want to be associated with him.

Nour knew Grant he still loved Alanor and there wasn't a thing he could do. He couldn't exactly go to his brother, given Alanor was already back in Udrad on his mission for revenge, or whatever evil was swirling in his head at the moment.

"There have been rumors, and well the enforcer did come by your house a month ago," Anhora explained as he looked at Nour.

The Omegas were sitting outside of Nour's house, waiting to hear what the mouthy omega had to say this time. If it was true, then they needed to see if they would be on the good side, and if it was false then they would go back to being his greatest haters.

It wasn't that complicated because no one ever liked the mouthy omega who always got himself in trouble in one way or the other. Granted, it wasn't the best way for Nour to get popular, but he wasn't going to complain.

Besides, it was the only way to make sure he was well-known before she went on to sit on his father's throne – not that he needed to be popular anyway.

He could be a dictator king and no one would dare raise a voice, because, after all, the kingship was always under the royal monarch.

"Do I look like I could be mated to the enforcer?" Nour asked, and he knew what they would say.

It wasn't what every mate wanted to do, especially with all that had happened but then he could just wait and hope that someone, anyone ever believed that he could be mated to the enforcer, the highest-ranking individual in the palace at the moment.

Or maybe he was just hoping for too much from people who knew nothing about him other than the facade he had been putting on for over two decades.

"No," some of the omegas asked, and Nour just sighed like he expected that.

"Yes," Anhora said, but then even Nour knew that Anhora was saying that just because he didn't want to make his friend feel terrible. But then what else could he do? Life wasn't exactly all rosy and shit for them, right?

However, as Nour was pondering over what to say, given he couldn't admit he was the crown prince, Cassius Junior, a new voice spoke, and boy did he feel like life had been breathed back into his dry lungs.

He had missed that voice; he had yearned for it for the whole month and he had hoped that there would come a day that he would be on the same side.

But now that he was hearing it, he couldn't help but be excited, after all, wasn't that what happened when people got their mates?

"Hello, mate," Grant's rough voice came through, and for a moment, the prince wondered if he was hallucinating again. In the time he had been away, he had been thinking of Grant and their mate bind.

He had been hoping and praying that the day would come when his mate would look at him. Now that Alanor was in Udrad, Nour had hoped that Grant would be able to tell that their mate bond was something they needed to fix.

Perhaps his prayers had been answered, right? But did they?

"He— What the fuck happened to you?" Nour asked as he took a good look at his mate. Grant looked like he had come from a torture chamber.

He was bruised so terribly.

He looked like shit and looked like the world could burn and he wouldn't even be able to save himself. Grant Hindley looked pathetic and pitiful, something that shocked the young prince.

"Just a few altercations here and there with the Ruby wolf," Grant said, lying through his teeth as if that was his only way of explaining shit.

For some reason, the omegas believed him because no one had heard from the Ruby wolf in a whole month. Hell, Nour himself knew that if he didn't know the truth, he would have believed the lying mate before him.

He didn't quite understand what Grant was hoping for by lying to him, but he also couldn't help but be thankful that his father had truly left his mate alive.

'Thank you, Father,' Nour said to the werewolf King in their mind link, closing it instantly, before his father could even say anything. At least he now knew his son was alive and back home, right?

"He got you good," Nour commented, not knowing what else he could have said.

Sure, he wanted to call him out for lying, but then he couldn't, not when he was just a mere omega who wasn't supposed to know the high-level operations of the kingdom. Plus, that would raise suspicion on who Nour truly was.

"Can… Can we talk? I kinda want to apologize for the last time I came to your house and made a mess," Grant said and Nour stared at him.

It just didn't make any sense that he was here trying to make amends when it was more than obvious that he didn't feel any remorse. His face was remorseful, sure, but his eyes spoke something, and the boy was Nour so familiar with that.

It was like Alanor's eyes when he caused trouble and didn't feel the least bit remorseful about it. Funny how he was thinking about his brother when he was mated to the man Alanor had rejected. But then fate always had its reasons, right?

"Please… You're my mate, and I need to do right by you," Grant said and Nour held back a scoff.

He may have been desperate to have his mate back and even be loved by him, but he was also smart enough to read people and see through their bullshit, and right now this was complete and utter bullshit. But hey, he wanted a show, right?

"So, he truly is your mate?" Anhora asked as if to seek answers for the omegas who were still trying to come to terms with that reality.

"Yes, he is. If he will have me, of course," Grant said softly and Nour could see the hearts in the omegas' eyes.

my heart, sigh...
