CHAPTER 3

LOCATION: HOME OF JARED GRAND ALPHA

The mansion of the Alpha Jared was a huge one. There was a big building sitting at the very centre of the fenced compound. The mansion was painted all white, with a little touch of cream at the bottom part of the walls. The compound also had arrays of flowers beautiful arranged, adding to the exquisite nature of the building. The garage was decked with exotic cars. The compound played a big role showcasing the wealth commanded by the Alpha.

As expected, the compound was surrounded by lots of guards all dressed in black suits and dark shades. The all mounted themselves on every corner of the compound. Their minds at high alert.

The exterior of the building was much more exquisite than the exterior. Entering through the threshold of the building's entrance, one would arrive at a hallway. This hallway had high ceilings and walls decorated with medieval sculptures carved into the walls. At the end of the hallway was a giant door mounted by two guards. Behind the door was the conference room of Alpha Jared. And at the moment, he was inside with none other than his Beta Kaira. The news of the massacre of the horde of betas had gotten to him. This infuriated him in no small manner.

Ragingly, Jared grabbed hold of one of the chairs in the room and flung it towards the wall. The chair smashed into bits the moment it came in contact with the wall.

"You need to be calm, Sire." Kaira said, her eyes fixed on the fuming Alpha.

"Things have gone past calmness, Kaira!" He beamed angrily. Alpha Jared looked like a middle aged man of forty years, when in actuality, he was past a hundred years old. Thanks to his Wolf gene which allows him to age slowly. He was average in height with a stout and chubby face, he had a dull moustache and goatee which gave him a German look. He was dressed in a black trench coat.

"I believe we're missing the larger narrative here, Sire." Kaira opined.

Turning his face towards Kaira, Jared asked. "How do you mean?"

"Looking at how things have been for the past ten years, I'm forced to say this is more than just the physical. I think unseen forces are pulling the strings here." Kaira continued. "Standing so close to our foe, I could smell dark magic emitting from within him."

"Dark magic...." Jared gritted his teeth in anger. "You think the Witches Three are behind this?"

"I do not think anymore, Sire." Kaira replied replied. "I know they are."

"If what you say is true, then this time, they shall pay with their lives!" Jared beamed and slammed his fist unto the table. "Get me the driver, now!"

"Yes, Sire." Kaira bowed and then she hurriedly exited the room to carry out her Master's bidding.

[ANDREW'S POV]

Here I am walking towards the cave where it all started ten years ago. I am the most powerful being in the world right now and I still don't feel complete. I thought by killing the Werewolves, I'd find some sort of inner peace. But in reality, all I've felt is the abyss within me growing deeper. I need answers, and only my creators can answer my questions.

I arrive before the mouth of the cave in no time. The surroundings were eerily quiet. Quite strange for a forest. Well, this wasn't just any forest. It was the abode of the very entities of darkness.

Just as I made to move inside the cave, a sudden eruption of dark smoke barred my way. They had come to meet me. Strange. They never come out to meet me. Well, here I am now. I need to unburden my mind right now.

As anticipated, the smoke clears out, finally revealing the presence of the Witches Three. As usual, they were clad in their black hooded cloaks which shielded their identity. Only their wrinkled fingers were visible.

"I come seeking answers." I decided to voice out.

"THAT YOU WISH TO KNOW WILL COME ON ITS OWN ACCORD!" The combined voices of Three Witches boomed.

"You do nothing but add to my uncertainty." I said. "Why was I created? I thought enacting vengeance on the Werewolves would bring me the peace I hoped for, but no. I still feel empty within."

"THAT YOU WISH TO KNOW WILL COME ON ITS OWN ACCORD!" The trinity voices resounded.

Honestly, I was getting fed up of the gimmicks these oldies were trying on me. Standing before these three felt like drowning myself in an ocean with no hope of escape. Well, I'm unable to keep my frustration in so I guess I'll just have to voice out my mind. Here goes nothing.

"HOLD YOUR THOUGHTS!"

Oh wow, I forgot they could read minds. Let's hear it then.

"YOU ARE A VESSEL FOR A GREATER PURPOSE TO COME!"

Crap! Enough of this. These ones need to know I'm serious here. With deep concentration within me, I conjure my flames unto my palms. The burning furnace dance fiercely around my palms. Hell knows if these oldies do not answer my the easy way, they'll do it the hard way.

"YOU DARE TURN AGAINST US!"

"Well, if you don't start talking, fleshes will start burning." I threatened, hoping to get them to talk.

"YOUR DAY SHALL SOON BE UPON US!" Then suddenly, the dark smoke erupted from nothingness and covered them.

Not this time, I must find answers. Swiftly, I shot my palms forward, channeling the burning flames straight forward, hoping to stop the Witches Three halfway. Unfortunately, the oldies vanish swiftly, sending my flames into nothingness. This greatly annoys me, but I just have to keep my cool. And so I resign to fate, turned and traced my way back out of the forest. Time to go Wolf hunting.

[END OF POV]

* * *

The blazing sun burned so hot upon Central City, but it's citizens did not mind. The civilians trotted across the open road, going about their individual businesses. It was a Monday afternoon, and usual, the day was filled with activities. Pedestrians trotted about, the cars and buses sped across the roads, and only occasionally stopping at the traffic light signals. It was a busy day indeed.

While the roadsides were crammed with activities, the scanty corners of the city were occupied by very few people. Along the walkway beside a row of buildings, a Lady walked. The Lady was about 6'ft and dark in complexion. Her hair was dark coloured and her eyes were shielded by dark shades.

With measured footsteps, she etched towards her destination which appeared to be a small house just across the street. Getting to the house, she stopped briefly and looked around. With a sigh, she proceeded to knock on the door of the house. About a minute passed, and then she heard footsteps approaching the door. The door opened, revealing its occupant. It was none other than Andrew.

"How can I help you, Miss?" He inquired, staring intently at the face of the Lady.

Chuckling, the Lady removed her shades. "My name is Luminous and I am here to see you Andrew." The Last now known as Luminous said.

"Ummm, I don't think we've met each other before, so how did you know my name?" Andrew was visibly confused.

"We have a lot in common than you know it." The Lady replied. "If you'd let me in, I'll fill you in on everything."

"Okay....." Andrew who was further confused shifted to one side of the door, thus inviting Luminous inside his apartment. "Come in then."

"Thank you." Luminous nodded and then she walked into Andrew's apartment. Andrew closed the door behind him, feeling highly curious about what the Last was going to tell him.

LOCATION: CENTRAL CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT (C.C.P.D)

The interior of the police station was crammed with busy police officers who were either doing paperwork, checking cells, handling suspects or doing some other police stuffs. Inside a well furnished office, a man sat behind a desk, his face glued to the screen of a desktop he was working on while his fingers continuously slammed on the keys on the keyboard.

The man was a middle aged Police detective who was dark in complexion, had neat beards at the sides of his face and down his jaw. He was dressed in a black suit and he had a cap strapped on his head. His face was stern looking as he continued working on his computer. Few seconds later, the door to the office opened and a figure entered into the room.

"Officer Liam reporting to duty Sir." The newcomer said. He was dressed in a plain long sleeved shirt shirt which was turked into an ash coloured trouser. He looked corporate and smart.

"Oh, you're the new investigative officer deployed here?" The detective sitting behind the desk asked, his face still glued to whatever he was looking at on the computer screen.

"Yes Sir..." The young man replied, his face beaming with smiles. He was a young man of about Twenty two, fair in complexion and average in height. His hair was dark and a little bit curly. His voice sounded a bit deep and manly, making him sound a little bit older than his looks.

"Okay Liam, welcome to CCPD." The detective welcomed him warmly as he momentarily turned towards the young man standing before him. "But it still beats my imagination why someone would accept an offer to come work in this hell hole of a place. Didn't hear of the ravaging Werewolves?"

"Well, Sir, my redeployment came as a surprise, but as an upholder of the law, I need to play my role and honour my country." The young man known as Liam replied.

"That's okay. Since we'll be working on cases together for a very long time, I'd advice you to start learning how to call me Edward." The detective said as he crossed his fingers together.

"With time, I'll adjust to things Sir." Liam replied him with a smile.

"That's Okay...." Detective Edward nodded and then he removed some papers from his drawer and handed them to Officer Liam. "These are the files on the Werewolves case. I need you to make photocopies then make sure you study them thoroughly and tell me what you think, okay?"

"Okay, Sir." Liam collected the files.

"Alright, get back to work." Detective Edwards dismissed him.

Liam nodded and then he turned and exited the room, leaving Detective Edward to continue with whatever he had been doing on his computer.
