The night is too cold yet cosy. Father is smiling widely while slicing down the meat, serves by the maids.
Mother sits on next to him. She looks happy as she would wink at me most of the time.
"Jack, what is your plan?"
Father asks him.
"Mister Thomas, I don't want to rush things up between me and your daughter. In fact, I am giving all the freedom to her regarding our wedding."
Jack looked at me for a moment that makes me uncomfortable.
I didn't either expect that he will let me decide about it.
Father chuckles and replies, "See Thallujah? I know that our daughter will marry the King when she grows up."
"Father, please... Don't tell him about that thing."
I feel embarrassed even though I am not Thalia. Maybe it's because I'm in her body, manipulating and pretending to be her.
Jack stoops and whispers into my ears, "Don't be too shy, Thalia. Sooner or later, you will be my wife and the mother of my child."
"I'm not shy at all! And I will not give a damn to feel the way you assume!"
I roll my eyes and looks at the window from my side. I thought Jack will get insulted but he only gives me an abrupt laugh.
He put his hand on my lap under the table which makes me widen my eyes.
I try to stop her but she didn't listen. "For pete's sake, can you stop touching my lap!"
Father look at me and tells me to sit back. "Thalia, what's going on? You look so surprised!"
Jack abruptly take off his hand out from my lap. Even mother try to see under the table.
But I know that there's nothing to be afraid of because Jack is playing safe and wild.
By then, the dinner becomes loud and filled with laughter. Father and Jack talk something that only men can understand.
Mother looks at me. Perhaps, she notices that I'm not happy at all.
She smiles at me widely and asks me, "Do you want to walk with me? It's been a while since we talk alone, Thalia."
However, I did not expect that Thalia's mother is such a kind and adorable woman.
She perhaps looks like my mother but they differ when it comes to emotions.
How I wish mother was kind as the woman in front of me, smiling and caressing my hand gently.
"Thalia, don't be afraid to tell me what you feel. I am your mother and I am doing this for your sake."
"I know. But, I will ask Jack first."
Mother nods her head and lets go of my hand for the moment.
I stoop and call his name but he didn't hear me. "Jack!"
Father see me but he chooses to laugh with Jack than asking me what I want.
"Jack!"
I call him but he seems like a deaf who's still chuckling.
"Mother, he's not listening!"
She winks at me and stoops to catch my father's attention. "Thomas, I'll accompany Thalia for a walk."
"Wait, tell Jack if he will allow you to borrow Thalia for a moment."
Mother hits his shoulder but he chuckles loudly. I want to feel bad for her but father kisses her forehead which makes mother blushed.
Jack saw it but he seems like a statue who didn't move for a moment. "Hey, you look like a statue!" I tell him and finally, he turned his gaze on me.
He said, "They look like a newlywed, Thalia! What if I apply it to you."
"Mother will accompany me for a walk. Stay here with father and laugh until you feel weak."
"Just don't go to into the woods. Do you understand?"
Jack warns me like he is my older brother.
To cut the chain, I give him an abrupt, sweet smile and reply. "Yes, My King."
I bow my head and father look at me before leaving. T
The warmth on his eyes becomes different abruptly. Like he's telling me something which I need to obey or else, I will be punished and scolded.
"Thomas, please don't drink too much! You are such a bad influence for the King."
Mother tells him but both of them are laughing.
She is about to grab the glass of wine from his hand when I stop mother by touching his shoulder.
I whisper, "Let him drink tonight, mother. I know Jack will stop before they lost his sanity."
"But, Thalia!"
"He will be fine, I promise."
Thalia's mother is too persistent and such a strict wife towards her spouse. She seems like a sassy vampire who's contented for having a simple and ordinary life.
However, I wonder why they looked the same! Their physical features to be certain.
But, they have different names and emotions.
"Thalia?"
"Hmmm?"
I humm as an answer.
The wind outside is too cold that touches and embraces my entire body.
I never thought that night will be this too cold than the past few nights.
Mother stands beside me while we walk towards the palace's hall. We agree to saunter around the wide field under the cold, bright sky.
"I thought you will be mad at me, Thalia. I know it is hard to live and to marry a man that you don't even love. But, see are only thinking about your protection!"
"Why do the werewolves hated us? Where in fact, we are not doing anything towards them!"
I raise my voice but still, it's not a big deal.
Loud voices and glorifying vampires are still gathered in the middle of the field. Few of them are in the hallway, talking to each other.
Thallujah gulps and takes a long sigh.
She looks at the sky and replies, "Werewolves killed my son. They thought that he was the vampire who killed the Werewolf Princess. But, your brother told me the truth. That he was innocent and he must be protected."
"But no one listened to him even your father."
Things never changed. I am still confused and I want to know the past.
"Did you found the werewolf who killed my brother?"
She shook her head in wrath and hatred. Her eyes are on fire which makes me caress his hand.
Mother looks intently into my eyes and whisper, "No Thalia! That is why your father forces you to marry Jack. If you will be crowned as the Vampire Queen, you will possess the power and authority. You can give an order to your servants who will search and disclose the truth."
"Don't worry mother. I will do everything to find the murderer who has killed my brother."
I breathe heavily as we both walk, without knowing where our feet are leading us into.
