Sister-in-law?
Giavanna was too busy answering the reporter's question to care about whatever happened to the lady she had put in the exact spot she belonged.
She answered questions for a few minutes. After she managed to escape from the reporter's clutches, her path was blocked by two figures.
Her eyebrows creased when she recognized the scent of the ladies whose feet were the only part of their bodies she saw.
Slowly, she lifted her head and settled her fierce glares on the two beaming figures in front of her.
"Hello Giavanna, it's nice to see that you are finally back to reclaim your position," the lady in an orange sleeveless gown greeted. Her radiant smile spread across her face.
Anyone who didn't know the lady's real self would mistake her for an angel not knowing she was a devil ready to sow discord wherever she goes.
"You don't only look beautiful but also practically glowing..." The lady in a green gown complimented.
They should have known to stop when they saw the menacing glares Giavanna shot at them but hell no!
The lady in the green gown brazenly continued. "And this made me wonder where exactly you stayed in this past year..."
"Excuse me!" Giavanna hissed. Her loud voice garnered the attention of other guests close by.
"Do you know me... no, wait let me rephrase the question," She paused halfway.
"Do I know you?" She snarled. She sized them from head to toe with a disgusted look plastered on her face.
Her action made the ladies look at their surroundings where people had started talking with their eyes focused on them.
"If you are gonna talk bad about me behind my back and later try to befriend me then show some shame," She scorned.
Giavanna gave no fuck that people's focus where on her and the ladies.
"Because your shamelessness makes me sick," She grimaced and diverted her menacing glares to the lady in the green gown who started the conversation earlier.
"Also I never said I needed fake friends so take a second look at the face of the one you try to befriend," She declared.
She flipped her hair and turned her back on them.
"How dare those fools try to befriend me after badmouthing me awhile ago. In their goddamn mind they must really believe I am stupid right?" Giavanna growled.
Immediately she swivelled, she saw the guy in a grey suit who had walked passed her.
She hurried to his side and grabbed his hand.
"I bet you were looking for me and I am happy to announce to you that your search is over since I am just right beside you," Giavanna whispered and leaned on his broad shoulders.
"Giava...,"
"I overheard people say the dance floor will be opened soon. Let's go over to our seats and...,"
"If you wanna dance then that's cool with me," He replied and stylishly pushed her head off his shoulders.
"But unfortunately, I won't be able to join you. I have prior arrangements and I need to leave...,"
"It's just gonna take a few minutes. Can't your second appointment wait until then?" Giavanna grumbled.
"I can't, I am sorry," He asserted and shoved her hands from his arm.
"Wait," the persistent lady stretched her hand and grabbed him once again.
'Awwn... someone wants to go and comfort his crying little bitch... bad news for you, Giavanna is here to stop that from happening'
There was this sense of fulfilment that warmed her heart when she saw her husband so agitated and anxious.
"I can let you do that but first let's greet some business associates...,"
"But you were never interested in such stuff in the past so what has come over you?" He lost his cool and shouted at her.
Immediately, Giavanna released his hand and drew backwards. She lowered her head and played with her nails.
"This is not the past. How could you forget such an important point," Giavanna mumbled, her head remaining lowered.
Her plan to gain people's sympathy worked because not long they were murmuring at almost every corner of the hall.
Xander wanted to so much abandon her there but was forced to pull close to her due to people's attention.
To businessmen like him, maintaining a positive public image was always crucial, especially for someone like him who hasn't gained full control of everything.
"I am sorry," He apologised half-heartedly while his gaze remained glued on the exit he desperately wanted to reach.
"I didn't mean to shout at you. And this wouldn't have happened if you weren't all clingy...,"
"Did you just call me clingy?" Giavanna interrupted, her fierce stares centred on his face.
"I didn't see you for an entire year. And just because I wanted a bit of your attention...,"
"Can you keep your voice down hmm," Xander cut in, his teeth gritted. "You are causing a scene here..."
"Sister-in-law?" A guy's curious voice interrupted their conversation.
"Ugh...," Giavanna grunted.
She so much wanted to turn and shut down the man who talked but she sucked in a mouthful of air before she turned around.
"What is that bastard doing here!" Giavanna muttered between her teeth and gave him her most charming smile.
Although she spent almost a year strategizing her revenge plans, she forgot the existence of one person in their lives.
And this person was none other than Seth Simon, her brother-in-law.
