Chapter 43: A Brother's Guilt

*Downtown Chicago*

I opened my eyes to find myself in the back of another cargo van, just like Andrea's. There were no windows, only a raw metal floor and security railings along the floor my hands had been bound to.

I slowly looked up to the driver's seat and saw Mordecai frowning in the rearview mirror.

I groaned. "What is it with your family and tying me up?"

"Things I didn't need to know about Rilian," said Mordecai with a sigh.

After only a few seconds of being awake, the compulsion suddenly returned. My body lurched forward, and I felt myself trying to shift against my will. I tugged against the ropes; my body wanted to walk to complete my order despite being in a moving car.

"Was… I do this in my sleep?" I asked.

I closed my eyes and focused, shaking as I tried to keep myself together.

"Yeah," Mordecai sighed, "the spell works even if you're unconscious. You'd just daydream about completing it and take out everyone in your way."
