Chapter 2: Crossing to Earth

Even though Eric was mentally prepared, the violent power in the space channel still surprised him greatly.

"Is this a space channel? Why does it feel more like a vortex of destruction?" Eric complained as he maintained his magic shield to resist the violent spatial forces.

Although Eric was undoubtedly the strongest in Celestia, he still felt somewhat inadequate in the face of this endless space-time storm. Gradually, the magic shield around Eric's body shrank and dimmed. Finally, under a sudden and tremendous thrust, Eric involuntarily plunged into a vortex composed of space-time energy!

The raging destructive power easily broke through Eric's magic shield, tearing at his body. Faced with this irresistible force, all Eric could do was withdraw his magic and focus on protecting his consciousness. The consequence of this action was a heightened awareness of the tearing pain in his body.

"It's been so long since I felt pain. I thought I had forgotten this feeling! ... I wish I could forget this kind of almost maddening sensation! ... Who said that prolonged pain would numb you? Why do I feel the pain increasing? ... Why is this space channel so long? My magic is almost depleted. If I can't find the exit of the space channel before my magic runs out, I will disappear completely."

Just as Eric was preparing to face death, suddenly, his surroundings brightened, and he was unexpectedly thrown out of the space channel without warning!

Falling heavily to the ground with a mixture of disbelief and ecstasy, Eric didn't care about the pain at this moment. After calming his excited mind, Eric endured the pain in his body and released his mental energy, attempting to communicate with the magical elements in this new space.

The result left him frowning!

"Why are the magical elements in this space so scarce? It seems that even elemental spirits have not evolved here. If it were another elemental mage, they would probably become useless!" 

Although the power of magic would be greatly reduced in this space, at least he could still use magic, right?

Comforting himself, Eric reluctantly gathered his magic and cast a water-based intermediate magic, "Water Healing." After the pain in his body subsided enough to move, he sat up, ready to observe this new world with his eyes.

What's going on?

Eric stared in horror at the small hand in front of him. The hand, belonging to a child of about twelve or thirteen, was not frightening. What was frightening was that it was attached to the body of a man over four hundred years old!

Unable to resist, Eric once again released a small amount of his restored magic and cast the water-based intermediate magic, "Water Mirror." To his astonishment, a somewhat weak and cute little boy sat naked on the ground.

Is this me? With an incredulous feeling, Eric smiled slightly, and the little boy in the water mirror also forced a smile. Eric straightened up, and the little boy in the mirror followed suit. ... After going through a dozen or so sets of actions, Eric finally confirmed that he had shrunk ...

Did the space-time energy cause an effect similar to his unique magic, "Time Reversal," on himself? Eric dared not be sure.

Has his body been changed internally as well?

Closing his eyes, Eric began to examine the inside of his body with his mental energy.

Hmm, everything is normal. Wait, why are my internals so colorful? Where are my nerves and veins? How come they're all gone? I don't care about veins, but nerves are the channels for transmitting mental energy. Any problem with them would affect my magic!

Feeling a little nervous, Eric entered his source of mental energy, resulting in another astonishment.

If the source of mental energy for a junior mage in Celestia could be compared to a bowl of water, and that of a grand mage to a pond, then Eric's previous source of mental energy as a grand mage was a lake. Now, what did he see? An ocean?

Opening his eyes, amidst the excitement of his soaring mental energy, Eric was a bit at a loss. He didn't know whether to use "Time Flow" to restore himself or to remain as he was.

After thinking for a while, Eric decided to go with the flow! He opened his storage space, intending to find some clothes to wear, but then suddenly realized: he didn't have children's clothes!

Picking out a random piece of his old underwear and wearing it as a robe, Eric took out two high-quality Magic Crystals before closing his storage space, which contained all his belongings, comparable to the largest sports arena on Earth.

After absorbing the energy from the two Magic Crystals, Eric restored some of his magic. For Eric, who had an extremely strong desire for knowledge, regaining his strength was far less important than exploring the new world.

For safety reasons, Eric first cast the "Invisibility Technique" on himself and then used the "Levitation Technique" to rise into the air before casting "Hawk Eye" to survey the surroundings.

Casting three intermediate wind-based magics in a row was not difficult because the magic power to maintain these three magics came from Eric himself. If relying on the sparse magic elements on Earth, he would probably only be able to sustain one intermediate magic.

After a moment, Eric had already drawn his conclusions. There was a gathering of vitality in the far east, indicating that there should be a settlement of creatures there; to the southwest, there were endless deserts and wastelands; to the north, there was a towering mountain range, and at this moment, there were some weak energy fluctuations, indicating that there seemed to be high-level creatures fighting there.

I don't know what those high-level creatures fighting look like. Do they have intelligence?

Eric gave the woman an admiring look, which happened to catch her face head-on. As a result, Eric was stunned. Under the tumultuous emotions, he could hardly even maintain his magic.

"Am I seeing things? How come I see Teacher Aileen?" Eric murmured to himself. Yes, the beautiful girl in front of him looked extremely similar to his teacher, Aileen. If you were to change this girl's black eyes and hair to blue, she would be a spitting image of Aileen!

The deep-seated image, carrying four hundred years of longing, erupted from the depths of Eric's heart at this moment, and his eyes, which had been dry for four hundred years, finally shed tears once again!

Fortunately, Eric hadn't lived in vain for these four hundred years. He quickly regained control of his emotions. He knew that the girl in front of him could never be his teacher, because his teacher could never kick off a steel blade with one foot.

Feeling a strong sense of familiarity with the girl who looked a lot like Teacher Aileen, Eric decided to help her. Unlike elemental magic such as wind and water, mental magic does not rely on magic power for its operation; maintaining it requires only mental energy. With Eric's current mental strength, ultimate magic like the "Unified Mind Technique" was as easy as pie.

Choosing a burly man who looked displeasing, he directly used the "Unified Mind Technique" to forcibly extract his memory. After assimilating the relevant information, Eric finally learned the names of both sides and the cause and effect of their fight, as well as the name of this new world—Earth.
