It's been two weeks since the accident. Flora was allowed to go home after the girl's condition stabilized. At home, her father was putting on a sour face because Flora did not marry one of the richest men in their country. Even now the long-standing cooperation was in danger of coming to an end.
Flora was now sitting on the edge of the bed. The girl had to grope for things around her so she would not hit or drop anything. However, this was of course not easy for Flora. She was still not used to the darkness that would always accompany her.
Slowly, Flora walked out of her room. She wanted to join his family for lunch. Because she had been waiting for so long and her mother had not come, Flora decided to walk alone with a cane.
"Mom? Dad?" The girl called.
Flora walked on her bare feet. She slowly dragged her feet one by one. Lucky, her room was moved on the first floor. So she did not have to risk herself falling down the stairs in her house.
Gerald was sitting in the living room, he was looking annoyed at his phone. The man continued to grumble after his daughter had an accident. The man did not realize that his daughter was trying to walk into the dining room. Unexpectedly, one of Flora's feet tripped over the other, causing Flora to lose her balance and fall against her father's favorite antique urn.
There was a loud cracking sound of ceramic tiles. Gerald who had been focused on his phone turned his head and immediately ran to the source of the sound. How surprised the man was, his daughter had destroyed his favorite urn which was an antique and hard to get.
"What the hell!" He shouted in a high tone.
Flora was so surprised. She accidentally broke his father's favorite thing. She then tried to reach her father but because of the distance, Flora could not get Gerald.
"I'm sorry, Dad. I really didn't mean it," she squeaked guiltily.
"You are really stupid! You already know that you are blind! Why are you still desperate to walk alone? Look! My urn is broken into pieces! You have never been useful from a long time ago, Flora!" Gerald again rebuked his daughter.
"Sorry, Dad. I'm really sorry...."
"Is it true that by apologizing you can replace it? Just now you're broke up with Tristan. You're so stupid. You should just do what Tristan wants so that Valerie won't take him!" Gerald has been ruled by emotion. Even now his words were crueler than the ones the man had often hurled at his own daughter before.
"What's the matter, Honey?" Deborah asked when she had just come from the kitchen after hearing her husband shouting.
The woman now witnessed for herself that her daughter was standing next to a broken antique urn. Deborah immediately approached her daughter.
"Oh my gosh, Dear. Are you okay?" asked the woman as she checked Flora. One of her daughter's legs was injured and there was blood on the floor.
"You too Deborah! You're the one who pampered her so much that she's useless!" Gerald now turned to mocked his wife.
"Daddy! Stop it! Flora has tried her best to fulfill all of your dreams. She, herself, has been very helpful in taking care of your business. Respect her, Honey. And don't always blame your own daughter. It's not Flora's fault if she broke up with Tristan. Tristan - the one who was irresponsible!" Deborah replied, she seemed to be unable to stand her husband's treatment.
"Enough, Deborah! You can't afford to give me a son yourself. So, shut up!" Gerald put his finger right in front of his wife's nose who had started crying because of her husband's cruel words.
"Oh, Honey. Your obsession is outrageous. You don't even want to see Flora's achievements by yourself."
"Enough! I'm going out. Take care of that! And you, Flora, at least shut up and don't do anything if you're useless!" Gerald said to his daughter who was crying in her mother's arms.
Gerald left his wife and daughter. This man seemed not to care about the suffering of the blind Flora. The servants who witnessed the incident could not do anything but clean up the broken urn. They also regretted that the young lady of the Hadley's was permanently blind. In fact, Flora was always cheerful and never looked down on them even though they were just servants in that mansion.
"Never mind, Dear. Don't be sad," Deborah said after she finished treating her daughter's wound.
"Thank you, Mom. I'm sorry. Because I have not been able to repay the kindness of Mommy and Daddy who have been taking care and raising me all the time," Flora said with her beautiful smile. But this smile accompanied by tears.
"Never mind, Flo. Your presence in this world makes Mommy happy. Please don't listen to Daddy's words. Because I knows that you are an angel sent by God to break the ancient view of the Hadley family. I am sure that you are actually the successor to the Hadley family who will be the great successor," Deborah replied with sincerity and hope. Because the woman knew that her lovely daughter had a talent that could drive the family business. It was just that because she was a girl, Gerald always looks down on her.
"Miss Flora, Miss Darcy has come to visit," a maid said when she was on the near room.
"Just let her in," Flora replied.
Darcy entered her best friend's room. The cute girl with short hair immediately hugged Deborah and then took turns hugging Flora.
"How are you, Flo?" Darcy asked. She now was sitting next to her best friend.
"Mommy go out first then. Darcy, please accompany Flora, okay? Then come have lunch with us," the woman said as she stood up from her seat.
"Okay, Aunty," Darcy replied with a sweet smile.
Deborah then left the two young girls.
"I'm fine, Darcy. Thank you for still wanting to be friends with me," Flora replied as she wiped her tears that were rolling down her cheeks.
"Oh, Flora. We are not just friends, remember? We are bestfriend who are like sisters," Darcy affirmed.
Flora smiled hearing her words. "Thanks, Darcy."
"Anytime, Flo. Oh, right. I have something for you." Darcy then took something out of the sling bag she was carrying.
"What's that?" Flora asked curiously.
Darcy grabbed Flora's right hand then put an old fashioned phone with a rubber button on it.
"What is this, Darcy?" Flora asked again while groping the phone.
Darcy smiled. "That's an old model of phone, Flo."
"Old model of phone?" Flora repeated. Now, her fingers can feel how the shape of the phone.
"Yeah. And lucky I can have it. Then you can use it if you want to meet or talk to me," Darcy explained.
"God bless you, Darcy. You really are my true friend. Thank you," Flora hugged Darcy warmly.
"You're welcome. You used to help me often, Flo. At least I want to repay you even though it's not worth it."
"Oh come on. Don't say that. Just being your bestfriend I'm already happy, Darcy. Only you are the most sincere friend," Flora replied with a happy smile. She replaced the hurt cry because of her father's words.
