Evelyn felt the air around her become tense and she spat out more words.

"I...It's claire. She told me that you suddenly brought a woman home and you told her to call her sister-in-law. S...she also told me that you let sleep in your room and then you al..."

"Stop it, now. I'm not interested in hearing all of those things," Elias snapped.

"But why did you get married to someone else? What did she have that I don't? I'm more beautiful, we've known each other the longest, and I love you too. So much that I can do anything you say. If you ask me to jump down a five-floor, I...I might do it," Evelyn said in a sweet and sorrowful voice as she pushed herself closer to him, trying to touch his chest. Elias abruptly dragged himself away from her and he almost fell but managed to keep himself stable.

"What the fuck are you doing, Evelyn?" He asked.

"I'm sorry I tried to touch you without permission, but you can't do this to me. Please, I love you so much."

"You can keep dreaming. I'm out of here and if I dare see you anywhere close to me again, I'm going to teach you a lesson you would never forget throughout your life," Elias got up from the long bar chair and straighten his disheveled suit. He stared at the girl one last time, before walking out of the club. He buried his hands into his pocket as he walked towards his car with anger. That foolish woman. How dare her appear from nowhere and worsen his already sour mood.

He had stopped himself from clenching her hair and throwing her on the floor. That would have ruined his reputation and that was the only reason why he refrained from doing just that. He stopped himself this time but that doesn't mean he will next time. If she ever pull such a stunt like this again, he was going to show her what he is made of.

He got close to his car and the driver quickly opened the back door for him and he got it without a word. He picked up his tablet from the corner of the car, and scroll through it.

.......

The next day, Madeline woke up to the bright light of the moon. She sat up on the bed and checked the time on her phone which was on the bedside table.

"Omo, it's 8 am already," she exclaimed, throwing the blanket off her body and running to the closet. Thank goodness Elias was not in the room. She picked a green two-piece suit and ran off to the bathroom. At exactly 8:30 am, she was all dressed and set to go.

Madeline held the handle of the door but she removed her hand when a thought flashed into her head. Damn! What if Elias wasn't gone yet? But she heard the sound of retracting car just some minutes ago. What if that brat Claire was still around? She seems to have the habit of skipping school. She would wear her uniform and pretend she was set for school but once her brother leave, she would pull off the uniform and invite her friends over. She did that the previous day. She might be around and if she sees her walking out of the house, she was going to call her brother.

What about the guards? They are their boss's puppets and they would do exactly what he says. He must have told them to refrain her from going out without his permission. Gosh, what was she going to do now? How was she going to leave this mansion? She can't give up now. She must leave and that was it.

Madeline walked to the window and opened it. She looked down and gasped. This room was on the top floor and it's the fifth floor. It was so high that if she jumped down, there was no way she was going to survive it. They must have thought of this and that's why they gave her a room on this top floor. Madeline gulped as an idea flashed into her mind. She was hella scared with what was on her mind but she has no other choice but to consider what was on her mind.

She dropped her bag and raced to the closet. She found some bedsheets of different colors and she picked some of them. Madeline tied them together until they formed a long rope. She made sure to tie them tight so they won't pull. Tying some more to it, she threw them over the window. Her chest fell when she looked down and saw it didn't reach the ground.

It only ended on the second floor. She loosely tied the other end to the window and ran back to the closet. She picked up some more bedsheets and walked back to the window where she had tied the previous bedsheets.

She loosed the other end and tied the new bedsheets together. She tied it tightly to the window. Tying it almost caused her ten minutes. Luckily, this time it reached perfectly to the ground. Madeline's lips curved up into a bright smile as she looked at her work with happiness. Now it remained on how to climb down to the ground. She wasn't that brave. Never in her entire 24 years of living has she done something like this and the thought of doing it was freaking her out but she has to do it. She must do it for her own sake.

Madeline tied her bag to her waist and prepared to roll down with the help of the bedsheets. Thank goodness she was putting on a two-piece trouser suit. She held the tied bedsheets and swallowed. Her heart was beating so loudly that one would think it was going to burst out of her chest. Gathering up the courage and breathing in and out, she held the rope bedsheets and jumped down.
