Chapter XCIV - The Kingdom of Magic (part 2)

"Excuse me."

I said as I slowly approached a family strolling near the gate. The family, a father, a mother, and a toddler daughter, is enjoying viewing the stuff inside the store, which is a clothing store.

"Can you tell me where I can find the magic academy? I am a traveler."

"Oh! If you keep on going straight, you will find a trijunction. Turn left and just keep going forward. You will see a super large beautiful building at the end of the road!"

The man explained to me while holding his daughter on his arm. The toddler is pretty cute with her blue ribbon.

"I see. Thank you very much."

I turned to the road and left them. Now to get to the-

"Look out!"

A shout can be heard behind me, coming from the man I just talked with. I didn't hear the sound of the carriage coming at all.

With my insane reflexes, I leaped to the right, dodging the horse from flattening me to the ground.

"Y-You okay?"

The man said at me when I straightened my posture. I nearly crashed to a barrel after I leaped. Luckily, I stopped right before I crashed into it.

"Yeah. I'm fine."

I turned my gaze towards the carriage, and it doesn't look like the carriage even stopping to apologize to me.

The carriage was quite a noble looking one, and It was heavily colored, like some toddler's drawing. The horse is also decorated with its own armor, also heavily colored.

The people here just love colorful stuff.

I then continued my walk again, uninterrupted. After finding the trijunction, I headed left and my eyes were feasted with a glamorous view.

Far at the end of this road is a gigantic and bright white castle, stretching all the way to the castle walls. On top of the white castle is the yellow tower, floating on top of it.

My eyes opened wide as a grin formed on my lips.

"That must be it."

Just like that, and I started my march towards the magic academy.

Up close, it doesn't look as beautiful. Probably because the yellow tower is no longer in view, but it still looks very nice.

I have arrived at the academy's front gate. The gate is colored blue, and behind it I can see a large green garden. Luckily, the gate was opened a little, so I let myself in.

The garden was decorated with custom bushes. Some of them looked like a person, some looked like an animal. The human shaped ones, I understand if they are some of the important figures of the kingdom. But, the animals…

Are these supposed to look like elephants? They look nothing alike, even as mammoths.

I finally arrived in the first room upon entering the gate, the large and wide garage. There, I spot only a single carriage.

The one carriage that nearly flattened me on the ground.

It really is a nice looking carriage. But, it's too heavily colored, making me a little sick.

After the garage, I arrived in a small room with a receptionist desk. A few people can be seen on the desk. One of them is the receptionist in distress, and the other three is a family. From the purplish colors of their hair, I can tell that they are a noble.

After all, nobles here have some weird colors on their hair. In fact, people with colored hairs probably have a relation with the nobles of this kingdom.

Except for me, though.

As I walk closer, I can hear their conversation. Looks like the receptionist was in distress indeed.

"Once again, if you are going to let a random nobody from another kingdom into the academy, then you should at least consider my son!"

The old man said with an absolutely ridiculous outfit with a very threatening tone. The poor receptionist can only wave her hand as she received such harsh treatment.

So… his son wanted to go to the academy as well.

Interesting.

The receptionist lady can't do anything about it. After all, she is merely only a receptionist. She tried finding a way to avert the attention away from her, and that is when her gaze landed on me when I entered the room.

"Ah, you have arrived!"

The receptionist lady said when she saw me entering the room. The family of three turned their eyes at me and then coughed.

"Y-Your hair isn't black... are you a noble?"

The mother of the family asked me, but I simply shook my head.

"I'm just a random nobody from Mazino."

I said with a thin grin.

Guess what… they became pissed.

"W-What did you sa-She is the one who got invited!"

The mother turned back to the receptionist lady with a large anger in her eyes.

"You let someone like her into the academy and not let my son in?! That's degenerate!!"

"I'm sorry ma'am... but I'm not the one responsible for these-"

"Then, find me someone who is!!"

"That would be me."

A voice came from the gate on the left side from the receptionist desk. A single person stood under the gate. His left hand is shoved inside the pocket as his other hand fixed his glasses.

Oh great, a narcissistic character.

The man was stared at by all the eyes in the room, but then he began marching towards me. He arrived two meters in front of me, a rather safe distance. He lent out his hand for a handshake.

"Good evening. You must be Rize. I am Plauren, the headmaster's assistant. Welcome to the Magic academy."

The headmaster's assistant welcomed me. His light blue hair is flowing from the night wind, and I can see a slight sparkle coming out of it.

Probably intentional.

"W-Wait, Mister Assistant! My name is Dolma from the Hargen family. This is my son, Nordick."

The father moved forward and grabbed his son on his collar. The two bowed at Plauren and spoke.

H-His name is Nordick?

"Ah, you lot... After getting rejected from the test, you still haven't given up?"

Plauren said coldly towards them, which surprises everyone by his sudden change of atmosphere. Hearing that, the father can only bite his lips.

"Please, sir Plauren. I wish to know why the academy would let a... random commoner like her, into the academy. My son is years beyond, more talented and genius in terms of everything than this… random commoner."

Really? When his name is Nordick?

"Ah... regarding that, the headmaster told me that I can do anything with you guys. So… let's play a little game!"

"G-Game? Sir?"

The father straightened his pose from bowing and stared confusingly at Plauren. The blue haired guy, however, began moving around weirdly and posed like a clown. His fingers are lifted, pointing at me and Norpenis over there.

"The two of you shalllll Batalllalalalal!! And the winnerrr... Will enterrr the Academiiiyyy!!"

What?
