Unbreakable love: Only one I love

Alex had one goal in life to make enough money so she could give her mother a comfortable life. But her efforts always seemed less fruitful even with her adoptive father and step-sister by her side. "Am not crying, just got something in my eye " Alex sniffed. "Am sorry, here is something that might help" the stranger said passing his handkerchief. "Thank you," she said taking it. After wiping the falling tears she turned to look at the stranger. His long brown hair was moving with the breeze around him as his dark orbs stared down at her. He bent down took his hankie and gently wiped the still falling tears from her eyes, "you missed a spot" he smiled. She smiled remembering that night, it was the day she had met him. Nathan Livingston. The man who claimed to only have eyes for her and soon had proved it.

Strong for her.

Alex had been so busy at her new job to mind about her health, she wanted to put all the days she had missed working to good use. Since Nathan was away no one nagged her about resting.

She was busy getting ready for an evening meeting when her recurring headaches occurred. She has tried to withstand the pain the past few days so she was used to it now.

She grabbed a glass of water and took a few sips then fixed her makeup and left for the meeting, but in the middle of the meeting Alex had felt her vision blur, blinking a few times didn't fix it and her balance was getting worse. Before she knew it her body was dropping to the floor as she lost consciousness.

....

She opened her eyes to find herself in the hospital, she hated them since now they reminded her of the time she lost her second father in the same place. She sighed trying to move but a hand held her down, it was her mother.

"Don't move sweetie or you will hurt yourself?" she said.

Another face popped beside her, "Your awake let me go get the doctor" Nathan's father said.

He walked away and Alex turned to her mother, "I guess those headaches needed to get checked out " She tried to smile.

Her mother's eyes teared up nodding, "Yes they did, now see where you are for not listening to me"

"Am sorry Mother?" she said, "So did the doctor say what's wrong?" she asked.

"Yes, it's the same thing your father had, a brain tumour" she let out.

Alex gulped, "Is it serious?"

Her mother held her hand, "No sweetie it's not, but you're going to have to go through a minor surgery to get it out".

Alex smiled squeezing her hand, "Don't worry Mom things will be fine"

Her mother's tears flowed out as she silently sobbed, "I know sweetie, so be strong for me"

Alex nodded.

She knew why her mother was crying, it was the second time someone she loved had such a disease. She smiled feeling her tears betray her as they fell.

The doctor walked in with George who stood beside her crying mother.

The doctor told her about her condition and what they needed to do. She listened to him as her eyes moved to her sad mother.

If her mother was reacting like this Alex wondered how Nathan was going to react to the news.

After the doctor left she turned to the two, "Can we wait to tell Nathan until it's fully confirmed "

The two looked at each other then back at her and sighed," I Am sorry Alex I think it's too late cause he was the first person we told "his father said.

"Huh... "she closed her eyes.
