Dinner

"About the garden, if you want to build one at our place, you can."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. As long as you don't ask me to take care of it. I'm too busy to care about plants."

Ivan let out a chuckle. "It never crosses my mind to make you take care of it."

"Good. Could you build a pond in the garden too? I want different colors of lotus flowers in the pond. Mmm… maybe some fish in the pond too."

"Sure thing. Anything you want darling."

"Thanks. I'm looking forward to it. Please don't disappoint me."

"You can keep your hopes up because I'll give it my all."

"We'll see about that. Cuz, if I'm not satisfied with the garden or pond, you'll have to rebuild it from the start."

"Don't worry. I'll make sure to build a beautiful garden for you. When it's done, you can't help but go there all the time."

"I'll keep your words in mind."

Vivian could see the confidence in Ivan's eyes. She is sure that he's taking every single one of her words inside his head seriously.

Vivian thought about it after what Ivan said. She thinks that it's not a bad thing to have a garden. She can take a walk around the garden or go through her classroom papers anytime she brings them home. She doesn't need to be stuck in the study room anymore.

They keep talking with each other while heading towards the dining room.

Mrs. Da and Mr. Da were already waiting for them in the dining room.

Mrs. Da's eyes lifted up in happiness as soon as Vivian and Ivan walked into the dining room.

Without saying anything, Mr. Da gave them gentle smiles to Ivan and Vivian.

With a loving smile on her face, Mrs. Da patted the chair next to her. "Come sit next to me dear."

Vivian smiles back at Mrs. Da. Without saying anything and Just like Mrs. Da wants, Vivian let go of Ivan's hand and walked up to Mrs. Da and sat next to her.

Ivan follows behind and sits next to Vivian.

Vivian was dumbfounded when she noticed that the dining table was filled with so many different dishes. There's only four of them and they won't be able to finish all of them. She wonders if there's someone coming to join them for dinner.

With a confusion on her face, Vivian turns to look at Mrs. Da. "Auntie, are we having guests to join us for dinner?"

"Huh?" Mrs. Da didn't get what Vivian meant.

"I'm just wondering if there's someone coming to join us for dinner since there's lots of food on the table."

With a smile on her face. "No dear. No one is joining us. The food is for the four of us only."

"Ah… I see."

"My wife doesn't like to waste food. Last time, when we couldn't finish all the food, she even kept the leftovers for the next day."

Mrs. Da and Mr. Da looks surprised after hearing Ivan's words.

Seeing the looks on their faces, Vivian hurriedly tries to explain herself. "It's just a bad habit of mine. Anytime I see wasted food, it reminds me of the people who don't have anything to eat. That's why I don't feel good wasting food."

Vivian doesn't understand why they cooked so many kinds of foods since there's only four of them. She understands that they're super rich and can eat many different kinds of foods, but this is too much. They're just wasting so much food like it's nothing.

Vivian is the type of person who hates wasting food. Anytime she buys something to eat, she buys it enough to make her full. If she still has some left, she keeps it for later.

"Oh dear. How kind of you. That's why my son can't live without you. You're a beautiful and kindhearted person."

"I'm not as kind hearted as you think I am."

Vivian was telling the truth. She's the type of person who would kill someone who provoked her without batting eyelashes.

"I knew the moment I saw you that you're a nice person. I can see that my son loves you dearly. That's why last time when I mistook who my son proposed to was and had someone to spread the faulty news, do you know how heartbreaking my son was."

Ivan could believe his ears. He doesn't understand why his mother brought up the embarrassing past in front of his wife.

With a smile on her face. "Last time, my son came home with..."

Ivan frowned. "Mother! You're taking everyone time to start eating their warm meals."

He, himself, doesn't understand why he ended up acting like that in front of his parents. That was his first time showing that side of himself and he never wanted to think about it anymore. He wants to bury it deep inside, let alone letting his wife find it out.

Mrs. Da understands that Ivan doesn't want to let Vivian find out. He just got back with her so she doesn't want them to be separate because of her again.

"Oh dear. Look at me, getting too excited chatting with you. I didn't mean to keep everyone waiting. You must be hungry. Since I don't know what you like, I had the chef cook everything that I can think of. I hope you like them."

Smiling lovely. "I'm not a picky eater. I like everything."

Vivian was curious what Mrs. Da was about to say but didn't pry. She doesn't want to become impolite in her in-laws' eyes.

She highly doubts that Ivan would act insane in front of his parents after what happened between them. Given Ivan's popularity, it's not surprising that Mrs. Da misunderstood the situation about the proposal.

"That's great! Please dig in. Bon appetit everyone."

Everyone starts eating their food. And to Vivian's surprise, she could feel the flavor of the food and it melted in her mouth and it was so delicious. It's to Vivian's liking.

It has been a long time since Vivian got to eat home cooked meals. Since she's living alone, she never cooks lunch or dinner. She's always out to eat at the restaurant or skip dinner.

She's glad that she got to eat rice, soup, and many different dishes today.

Ivan picked up a piece of chicken and placed it on top of Vivian's rice bowl.

"Eat more."

After that, everyone started giving food to Vivian. That's Including Mr. Da.

He's the type of person who doesn't talk much, but Vivian can see that he welcomes her wholeheartedly. He treats her like his real daughter.

They eat and have a little chat with each other and get closer to each other.

After the meal, they had some tea and snacks.

Because she ate too much earlier that there's no more space for the tea and snacks in her stomach.

Before they left, Mr. Da asked them to stay a little longer saying he had something to give to Vivian.

To Vivian's surprise, it's not just a gift, it's so many gifts. She received many different kinds of gifts from Mr. Da. At first she thought that only Mrs. Da prepared the gifts, that's why she's happy with it. Her gifts are too priceless.

But Mr. Da prepared even more valuable gifts. He won't take no for an answer.

Even though she secretly had asked for help from Ivan to turn down the gifts, he wouldn't budge.

In the end, Vivian had no choice but to accept everything since she didn't want to disrespect her father in law.

And of course, at first Mrs. Da was surprised that her own husband prepared the gift without her knowing. She was still happy that Mr. Da accepted Vivian and treated her like his own child.

In the end, they ended up staying longer than Vivian expected.

After what happened today, Vivian decided not to visit her in-laws as much as possible. It's not because she doesn't like them, it's just that they're throwing too many priceless gifts to her that it makes her feel uncomfortable.

It's their first meeting with each other and she didn't expect them to give her anything. But she received many things from them.

Vivian could only breathe freely after they left. If they stay there longer, she might want to run away from them.
