Ch-5: Jarien Dawner and The System

The boy lay in his bed fainted, his parents and brother kept tabs on him to know when he would wake up but they had not expected him to not wake up for three whole days. 

Nathaniel, his grandfather, who had arrived on the second day since he fainted had decided to kill those quacks in the name of healers if he did not wake up any time soon.

The boy or Jarien Dawner lay still, yet inside, the soul of the otherworlder man was being tormented to pain as it had been seeing and absorbing all the memories of Jarien as he had destroyed his own consciousness before his soul got absorbed by the unknown man.

Just when the man was in peril, the system suddenly burst active without anyone knowing it was performing various actions.

"Krhhhh..." Just then Jarien grunted in unbearable pain but the room became quiet as soon as he just grunted

"Uhuaaaaah..." A soul piercing screech echoed in the lone room yet no one detected it as the system had already put a sound barrier around Jarien to prevent anyone from discovering what transpired in the lasting silence here.

[Searching for host's consciousness and soul]

[Error... Host's consciousness not found. Host's soul merged with foreign soul]

[Error... No guideline for such situation found]

For the next few hours Jarien was hanging between life and death while absorbing memories not even knowing what was happening with his body himself.

After 71 hours from the first time he awakened in this new world, he woke up again in a confused yet dazed state.

"Uhhhh... Why am I in so much pain? Just kill me. Stop torturing me!!" Jarien shouted hurriedly not knowing when his consciousness might slip away making him faint again.

To his surprise no one answered him for 5 minutes, rather no one could answer him as no one was even near him.

Suddenly, he felt memories rushing over into his brain both of past and future, he saw blurry memories of his future that seemed to be fading and solid memories of this body's past.

"No way... I can't believe it... I am in this novel? The novel that she wrote to commemorate our relationship over 2 years!!!!!" He spoke dazedly.

Ding!

Something broke him from his stupor and he was horrified as he didn't remember Jarien ever having a system or regressing in the plot nor was he supposed to be possessed by someone.

The first realisation that struck him was that, at this point, the entire plot had gone to shit. According to his knowledge about such situations that came from anime, novels, manhwas was that he needed to make the protagonist strongest and become at least one of the strongest to survive.

As soon he saw this, he was shell shocked as no one in the entire novel ever re-awakened. To his elation, he hurriedly shouted "Status Window" like an idiot.

ㅤSkill {Contract} - Host can use this skill and a medium to form a mana contract for signing upon the pre-agreed conditions

ㅤHost needs to understand the bloodline and cultivate it with guidance to unlock it. The other bloodline of the host has been assimilated as it was a sub-type of the bloodline improving and awakening a higher bloodline.]

[Jarien POV]

"Woah!" I was shocked by this sudden shift of events, I mean yeah the upgrades are pretty good and I already knew about the growth type talent but to get a second talent. Just amazing.

The fact about the bloodline was a bit irking given the description of it absorbing and whatnot as it practically confirms that I awakened two bloodlines but they have merged somehow making utilizing them many times difficult.

'Honestly, I don't really care.'

My excitement was as fleeting as the air one inhales and exhales.

'I mean, yeah, it's exciting and a cool fantasy world but I am not a chuunibyou so who gives a damn?'

'Of course, if this happened before I fell for her, I surely wouldn't care about anything and enjoy this next world. Well, not like I had a future in my previous world, I was gonna die soon anyway but still what reason do I have to get stronger or even care if this world gets destroyed or saved?'

My cool monologue was interrupted by a system notification and I for the first time in my life felt my heart and organs wanting to jump out of my body through my mouth. I believed it was just a metaphor but I swear I just felt that and it definitely isn't a good feeling for sure.

[After studying the memories, consciousness and soul of the host, the system discerns that the one you are yearning for, your destined one, is alive]

'It is a lie. I know all systems are evil, call themselves a blessing by supreme/heavenly beings only to control and parasitize the host…'

[The System is not a gift, nor is it a parasite. The system is there for anyone who regresses using the divine artifact ************] 

I was stupefied by the sudden notification and then the beeping as if I was not allowed to see the name or maybe I would die just from its name after all I may not even be a sand particle in front of such beings who could create regression items.

But I suddenly realised that the system was angry and I recalled how those tsundere old men who teach the MC and act like they don't care but are kind hearted similar to those ice cold male/female lead tropes in most romance novels.

[The System is not lowly like what the Host knows. I am sentient though I don't have a gender, I highly reject the idea of being associated with either of the host's imagination. The voice that you hear is the soothing voice of a female that has been created based on your subconscious desires. AND NO I AM NOT A LOL —]

'Hmm, my subconscious desire huh? No wonder it sounds so familiar…I am helpless aren't I? Getting convinced so easily just because of the resemblance of the voice that too created from my own memories being pried upon without any sort of permission whatsoever…" During my internal musings, I sensed the voice's rage and loudness making me stop and cut it off.

"Alright, alright chill there, I got it." After taking a helpless sigh, I continued "Then what use are you now if I believe that what you said about her being alive is true?"

[The system has already expended most of the reserves of stored energy to re-awaken the host so figure it out on your own from Jarien's as well as your own memories. The System would like to warn the host that ******ΦλφγΔΣΩΞ¥Γ¢$€#£&Π*********]

"What? What warning? I can't hear it?" I asked knowing that some entity or the heavenly law of this world must be interfering so I won't hear it no matter what.
