THE REJECTION

Zoe couldn't believe what she just heard. Isaac told her that the liquid that his mother forced her to drink was meant to weaken her wolf, so she wouldn't be able to come to the meeting with the alpha, but unfortunately, because of what Zoe was going through at that time, her wolf was already very weak to begin with.

Therefore, her wolf died instead.

She didn't have a luna wolf, she was an omega after all, thus her wolf spirit was already not as strong as that of the other higher rank shifters.

With what Rachel did to her, it sealed the deal. Zoe lost her wolf forever.

"It's just a mistake." Isaac tried to appease Zoe. It pained him to see her right now. She was in so much shock, as if she went through four stages of grief within a few seconds. "My mother didn't mean to do that to you."

Mistake.

The word triggered Zoe.

"All of this is only a mistake in your eyes?" She narrowed her eyes dangerously at him. How could he be so dumb and readily accept that everything was only a mistake? "You cheated on me and now I lost my wolf forever and you call that a mistake?!"

Zoe pushed Isaac away from her, the sight of him disgusted her so much. She didn't believe it, but after she tried to feel her wolf, she couldn't deny the hard truth. Her wolf was no longer there. Her wolf had died and all of this was because of 'the mistake' that his mother made?!

"Calm down, Zoe," Isaac said helplessly. "My mother and Layla regret it. They apologized to you."

"Apology?" Zoe scoffed, she was a hundred percent sure that they didn't regret it at all. "What is the punishment for them?"

Zoe was very upset, she even forgot the fact that Isaac said that he introduced Layla as the future luna of the pack. The title didn't mean anything to her right now, Zoe didn't want to be his mate anymore, but she wanted justice for her dead wolf spirit.

"They have apologized and we are trying to find a healer to revive your wolf spirit."

"Apologized? You let them go free with only an apology?!"

"I have scolded them. What else should I do?"

"I, Zoe Andrea Harts, reject you, Isaac Bill Blackthorn as my mate! May our bond sever for good!"

This time, Isaac couldn't stop her, but there was no need for that. He saw this coming. Zoe tried this before, she would definitely do it again now.

Meanwhile, Zoe waited for the pain because of the broken bond, yet the pain didn't come. She didn't feel the pain, nor the mate bond.

"Zoe, you lost your wolf spirit. Your rejection will not work." Isaac explained this to her, reminding her that she was no longer a she- wolf.

Hearing this, Zoe lost it. She had lost so many things and losing her wolf was the worst of it all, especially the audacity of Isaac when he tried to compromise with her situation.

"Don't worry, I will take care of you. I will take care of you for the rest of your life. You don't need to be afraid." Isaac looked at Zoe with sadness in his eyes, but this sight infuriated Zoe.

Zoe was seeing red. Her anger fueled her with enough strength to push him away as she screamed in his face.

"Get out! GET OUT! LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Isaac watched how Zoe's world was crumbling and he only stood there. Did nothing and finally when he realized there was no way he could talk with her, he left the room.

"We will talk again once you calmed down. We will discuss this later, okay?"

Zoe didn't even want to see his face, let alone to talk to him again. Within a few days, the man that she thought loved her and would protect her had turned into someone else entirely.

What changed?

Later that night, when Zoe had done crying her heart out, she decided that she couldn't stay in this pack anymore and torture herself more than this.

She didn't have much in her possession, but she had enough to get her out of this pack and provide for herself for a few weeks.

With that thought, Zoe put all of her important things into a small bag and went out of the room. It was very quiet. The mindlink didn't work with her because she lost her wolf. Not only that, the bond with this pack was no longer there, which made it easy for Zoe to leave everything behind.

She didn't know where to go, but everywhere was better than being trapped in this pack, surrounded by people who wanted to hurt her.

Zoe took a deep breath and started to walk toward the pack's border. She knew the areas that were not heavily guarded, so she could sneak out without anyone noticing it.

Meanwhile, Isaac, who was clueless that his mate had left, was currently in another argumentation with Layla.

"Zoe didn't have this small tattoo on her shoulder." Isaac growled at Layla and the latter looked startled.

Isaac pointed to the picture that Layla showed him, claiming that Zoe had been fooling around with so many men behind his back and in his rage and poor judgment, he wanted to get back at Zoe for doing that to him.

However, after what happened and when he saw the pain in her eyes, also how the love faded away, which was replaced by disgust, Isaac second guessed it.

And here he was, realizing what kind of mistake that he had committed.

"Tell me, where did you get the picture from?!" Isaac raised his voice and this made Layla cry. "Stop crying! How dare you fool me!?"

"Isaac! You can't raise your voice to a woman! I didn't raise you to be like that!" Rachel reprimanded her son.

"Shut up! Tell me the truth!" Isaac hollered angrily.
