The Devil has come

Walking out of his office. Devon looked at the sky. The orange rue glow formed from the mixture of the setting sun in the white clouds, was beautiful. He stayed staring at it but with an obvious frown on his face. Like he was judging the beauty of nature.

A black car parked in front of him and Secretary Ben came to open the door for him. He got in without even a word of thanks. The door closed back and the secretary was back in his front seat.

"To the Old Manor" Devon's cold voice rang out from the back. He was more than displeased to be going back to the Montero residence and that to for a very annoying reason. If he wasn't given an ultimatum then he would not have thought of going even if his knees would break.

"Okay boss" slowly the car drove away from the MX corporation and made its way through the city.

The Manor was on the other side of town still it didn't take long for the car to come driving into the extensive compound. Fifteen minutes tops and he was looking into that vast compound from the car window. The scenery was beautiful with Flowers adorning the base of the wall that at one point went beyond a area the normal eyes could see.

Trees and treated plants laid around at the excess lands. The air was fine and so was the view. It brought peace and memories. Most good but a particular one on a day like this plagued his resilience.

"Welcome Young Master" The role of Servants greeted at the door as he stepped out of he car.

"This way Young Master" He was led by the servants straight to the dining room.

Dinner was already served. Though not complete the house members had began to gather at the table to have their dinner. Devon was earlier than he wished. But what could he do. His grandfather had specifically called to tell him to come on time.

"Ah Devon You're here?" Claudia was surprised to see her some come home for dinner. The Old man had kept the news to himself so it was quite a shock to the others too. The last time this young man came home for dinner was... They can barely remember.

"Good evening mum" He greeted politely. He might be angry at his grandfather but that didn't mean he should act Curt with the other family members.

The woman was excited to see him. The day had just got better. She had a good time talking to her second favorite person today and then the first comes home unexpected. At least so she thought. Little did she know the Old man was going to announce a news at the table that would take away everyone's appetite all together.

With a slight frown. Devon moved close and took his seat beside his mother. His eyes danted to the other chair looking. The man of the night was yet to arrive. How audacious!

It didn't take long and the table was filled with everyone living in the Montero Manor. Grandpa Hugo had Three children in whole. Two boys and a girl. First was Eugene who was Devon's father and in turn had three children of his own; Devon, Galvin, and Rhona, minus the illegitimate child Alan. Second was Edna, she had just one child, Denice and Lastly, Liam. He was married to Evelyn and had two children Ruben and Lance.

Apart from Rhona who was travelling the world sightseeing, then Edna who also was in the army and then Liam who was working as an assistant for his father-in-law the vice president. Every other member of the family were present at the dining table, that includes the untimely visitor Devon.

The food were served, everyone didn't moved to start eating. Grandfather Hugo was yet to arrive and as custom, no one was to start eating in his absence except he was going to skip the meal.

It didn't take long and the Old man was led from his room by his secretary. The two were whispering along themselves but the conversation dues the moment they were in people's eyes. Seeing Devon seated at the table the old man's grim face lightened a bit but it turned dark again the next second when the empty chair adjacent from his came into his eyes. He stopped and whispered into the ears if the secretary. Secretary Ben bowed lightly then walked away.

"Let us eat" He announced and everyone began eating. A weirdly stretched silence hung over the table. Everyone ate with their eyes in their plate. Only Claudia made slight gesture to put food in Devon's plate. She hadn't seen her son since the night he forcefully married himself off. It was such a rare occasion to be able to eat with him.

Devon didn't eat much. His appetite was strangled away even before he came here. He was one of the few people that knows why Grandfather requested the family be complete for this dinner so how could he still have the heart to eat anything.

"Mmphm" The Old man cleared his throat to get everyone's attention. The sound of cutleries hitting against the ceramic plates died down. All eyes were now placed solely on the Old man.

"I want to announce something" Grandpa Hugo started with a heavy mind. What he was going to say wasn't easy for him but it was best to do the right thing. And the right thing was what he was going to say.

"I have decided to call Alan back" Straight to the point and like a well aimed arrows. Everyone's mind and heart understood his words.

Alan. Which of them didn't know that name.

Even the Young master's and Mistress who had been nothing but teenagers when the first incidence occurred still remembered it like it was yesterday.

Alan, the Montero Family one and only illegitimate child.

Clank!

Claudia's spoon dropped to the floor. Shock and disbelief displayed on her face. She turned to look at her husband. His eyes were buried down in guilt. He could bare to look in her eyes. Her son too visible had his teeth gritted in his mouth, his fingers clenching on the iron spoon like he intended to break it at a touch.

They both knew!

They knew Grandfather Hugo was going to do this. It was evident. She felt her heart shatter and she turned to look at the Old man. Half begging and half glaring at him. She wasn't ready to face that truth. It has been so long already yet she wished she could wipe that point away like it never happened. She hated that she had to face it now and for that she was angry at the Old man. Why was he doing this? What did he choose to bring back that thorn now? What is his motive?

Grandfather Hugo sighed "it's been so long. It's time we deal with the monster in the cupboard. It was all our mistake. The boy doesn't have to suffer it alone. He is not a monster neither does he intend to fight for anything. He deserves a family and we should give it to him"

Devon scoffed "I hope you know what you're doing. I can only pretend to not see his existence for so long but if he so much crosses what belongs to me. Then you can just the peace you spent so hard to build goodbye."

It was an open warning. The atmosphere at the table turned frigid. Both Devon and the Old man had ugly faces. They stared straight into each other's eyes.

"Most times not everything is the way it seems" Devon frowned. The Old man was speaking in parables. Even him couldn't understand what exactly he was talking of. What exactly was his motive?

The Old man's meaning was simple. Everyone looked at Alan as a monster cause he was an illegitimate son, their first thought of him was that he would be power driving and would fight to grub all the power from Devon but within the boy was actually not like that. He was a gentle soul that didn't even want to rely on people. For fifteen years, he had watched him grow and build a life for himself. With his own two hands he got to height many people would not achieve. It there was anything the you tube man valued so much it was Family. Maybe because he never had one.

Hugo sighed "Anyways I invited him for dinner. I won't ask you to be nice to him but don't treat him like a stranger. He is one of us now"

As if in cue, the butler walked into the dining room and announced. "Young Master Alan has arrived"

The tensed air even became tenser. Those at the table waited for the unfamiliar figure to walk in and then for the gunpowder to start flying through the air. There sure was a battle that was bound to happen.

The door opened and footsteps were heard.

"What's up everyone? I'm home" A wily languid voice rang out.

Who opened Hell's gate? The Devil has come!
