Chapter 21. By hook or crook.

Motherly love cannot be understandable by someone who hasn't given birth.

The love of a mother is sacrificial, surprising and most of all unbelievable.

Jennifer got home from the hospital and was shockdead to see Phillip's mother at her place well seated waiting for her. she called her Maid and asked what happened to the rules she she gave her concerning visitors in her absence but she told her that the visitor is not just a visitor but the mother of her boss. After hearing this Jennifer focused on her visitor and about to start her drama when she remembered the advise her friend Shola gave her. She greeted politely.

Jennifer...... Good day ma.

Phillip's mum... Good day my daughter. How are you and my grandchild?

Jennifer...... We are fine ma. What can I offer you?

Phillip's mum......Just water my dear.

Jennifer got her water herself, she went and sat close to her and they both apologized to each other over what happened in the past. Both discussed like mother and child. Phillip's mum told the maid to go get the provisions she bought for Jennifer from the car.

Jennifer....... Thanks ma, this is so kind of you ma.

Phillip's mum........Thank God my dear, this is just a minor, more will come. I will take my leave now but I will be back next week for a proper discussion.

Jennifer........Ok ma, you are always welcome, let me see you to the car.

Dianna went with Phillip for lunch and while discussing Phillip remembered the drama that took place between Dianna and her mum. He looked at Dianna and said: Love I have never seen you in that mood ever since I knew you. You surprised me that day.

Dianna.......What are you talking about?

Phillip......I just remembered what happened at your place between you and your mum. Babe you have courageooooooo. it's only a brave person that can do that.

Dianna.....You know, to be honest I felt bad for doing that to my mum. Ever since I was born I have never challenged my mum like that. She use to say that I resemble my dad in everything especially in character. I felt like the world is crashing down on me when I asked her out of my house. Phill I just want her to listen to me, to understand that I really feel something for you and to also know that you are a nice person.

Phillip.......Don't worry Babe, she will come around. My love, what you did that day gave me another perception about you.

Dianna.......Good or bad Phill?

Phillip........ Good my love. You stood your ground for what you care. You stood your ground for who you love.

You stood your ground for what you feel for me. You stood by your word despite your mum's reaction over that. And because of this I have decided to tell you something that I have kept a secret from you dear.

Dianna.......What secret?

Phillip..... Your mum's reaction towards me is the same with my mum's reaction towards you. That was samething she said the day I told her about us. She wants me to marry Jennifer instead.

Dianna... Stopped eating, looked at him and said : And you, what do you think we should do?

Phillip.......What do I think?

We can't give up on this relationship my love. Whatever they have with tribalism they should settle it there. Dianna I love you with all of me and I can't settle for less.

Dianna......I love you more Phill. Just that I don't want to be the reason you don't get along with your mum. What if she comes after me?

What if we don't get to meet again?

What if I end up loosing you to Jennifer?

Phillip....Went closer and held her hands tight, looked into her eyes and said: I give you my word Dianna, no one can come between us. Enough of the what ifs. Nothing scares me more than loosing you. Let's eat so we can get back to the office ok?

Dianna....Ok Phill.

The two lover birds ate and went back to office.

Shola was discharged from the hospital, she called her friend to tell her she's coming over to her place.

Shola got to Jennifer's place and was warmlly welcomed by her friend Jennifer.

Jennifer....... Welcome babe.

Shola...... Thanks, please can I rest a while at your place before leaving?

Jennifer........Sure, that's not a big deal. You can stay here as long as you want dear.

Shola.......Thanks babe.

Jennifer......Have Douglas called you?

Shola....... That monster didn't call me but sent a text that I should be expecting a divorce paper.

Jennifer........ Divorce?

Divorce kill him there. You are not going anywhere. Douglas have met the wrong person. If he thinks he can rub shame on you just after 7months of marriage then he has failed.

Shola....Babe all this is my fault. If I didn't have an abortion that affected my womb I would have been pregnant by now, at least Douglas would have considered me.

Jennifer...... Babe cut the crap. It's of a truth that you made a mistake then but what would you have done when the owner of the baby denied it?

The fact still remains that you are the legitimate wife of Douglas and you are going no where.

Shola........Babe please I think it's best I sign the divorce papers because staying in that house without Douglas around is same as one who's divorced. Oh how do I stand this shame?

A marriage that didn't even last up to a year. If I had known marrying Douglas will bring me shame I would have remained single. She burst into tears.

Jennifer.......Babe don't be too hard on yourself. We can't predict future. This life is full of battle and when the going gets tough only the tough gets going.

The both friends cried on each other's shoulders till late night.

Dianna was dropped from work by Phillip, they both waved each other goodnight.

She got in and was about to take a bath when her phone rang, she picked and it was her younger sister Amanda.

Dianna......Hello sis

Amanda.....Good evening sis. Are you back from work?

Dianna........Good evening. Yes I am. Why is your voice this weak?

Amanda......Please can you come over to the house now?
