Philip had booked first-class seats, and after we were in the air and had been served drinks, he said, “How long has it been since you’ve been back to Boston?”
“It was the fall before Robert died. We went up in October for a visit, then rented a car and drove through New England to see the foliage.”
“I’d like to do that sometime. I try to get to my place in North Carolina in mid-October for the leaves, but I’ve always heard that New England is much more spectacular.”
“Having seen both, I’d have to agree. Maybe we can arrange for you to see them this fall.”
“Thanks, I’d like that very much.”
