Chapter 2 The Bitter Fate of Rania

Rania cuddled up. She noticed that the locals were helping to lower her father's body. She did nothing but think all night, leaving her father hanging and not asking for assistance. She remained tearless. Rania had lost all vitality, not even to blink her eyes. Her disappointment at her father's betrayal had robbed her of all anguish and suffering.

Rather than battle to the last drop of blood with her, her father made the decision to follow her mother. Though Rania voluntarily gave up her brilliant youth in order to give her family a better existence.

"They have taken care of your father's body, Ran." The funeral is concluded. The village chief spoke forward, and whispering could be heard behind him, "We request that you leave this house immediately."

"Why? This is my house," Rania retorted.

Turning around, the village chief seemed to be asking the folks chatting behind his back what they thought.

He inhaled deeply. "We object to Mr. Hadi's thugs visiting our village. Our town has not been safe since your father owed that loan shark master," the village chief remarked.

"So... after everything my father did, selflessly helping all of you, you have the heart to drive me away?" asked Rania, wearing a chilly, pallid face. There was not a hint of grief at all.

"Pardon us, Rania," the chief of the village said. "We'll give you until tomorrow."

The chief of the village said goodbye, followed by a throng of people who kept casting pitying glances at Rania.

Following the villagers' departure, Rania went back to her home. Dark, silent, and empty. The house seemed to lose its soul after her father chose to take his own life there. It changed and became a miserable environment.

Rania has no plans to take any action. Sitting with her knees embraced, she bemoaned all the misery in her life.

And now what should she do? She was without a place to stay or return to. She had no employment at all to support herself. She had nothing but her pride and a piece of fabric stuck to her body.

Did Rania have to give up her pride too?

Rania heard noise in the front yard. She stood up and peered out from behind the window curtains. It was early in the morning, yet three big goons were making a disturbance in Rania's yard. People walking by stared at them fearfully, but they didn't care.

Knock, knock, knock!!

There was a knock on the front door so loud it felt like it would fall in at any moment. Panicked, Rania did. She was terrified, but all she could do was give herself a hug.

The door finally gave way as predicted, allowing the three goons to enter with ease. They didn't care that the homeowner had recently lost anything; they just kicked anything that got in their way. For unknown reasons, they let loose with their rage to inculcate.

"Hello, youngster. Finally, we meet again," remarked one of them—that old and terrible man.

The other two bullies were directed to back off by the elderly man, who stood in their way. It was him who went up to the terrified Rania.

"So, your dad passed away?" The elderly man jokingly said, "He was a coward, indeed," directly in front of the quivering Rania. "Now, come on, stand up!" Rania was forced to stand next to him when he tugged her hand.

"What are you wanting? I'm down to nothing." Rania's lips quivered in response.

"Of course. How could your father, who was impoverished, give you anything?" asked the elderly man, grinning cruelly. "But you have valuable assets,"

The elderly man's keen eyes studied every inch of Rania's physique. "You must have a very high value. particularly considering that you're a young lady with little experience," Then, with his two companions behind him, he laughed.

"What exactly do you mean? Let go!" Rania made an effort to get free of the elderly man's hold.

"Madam will undoubtedly be happy to have a new kid just like you. Hurry up!" Rania kept on wriggling and screaming as loudly as she could while being carried by the elderly man.

Was her life coming to an end? She was fully aware of where the elderly man would lead her. Rania cursed her own fate since the harsh reality was more worse than her fantasies.

"Let go, let go, you jerk!" Rania fought back. With one free hand, she kicked, tugged hair, and did everything she could.

However, the other two thugs laughed after the old man. These were real nasty devils.

"Release her," The young man, who Rania recognized, suddenly stepped in front of the home.

The three large goons quickly froze when the young man stood composedly. Even the elderly man let go of Rania's hand.

"You jerk!" Whenever Rania got the chance, she would just randomly slap the old man.

The old man was going to retaliate but the young man signaled him to stop. He moved to stand firmly in the middle of the three large goons.

"I will pay off this girl's debts! Everything will be paid off!" he exclaimed loudly, pointing to Rania.
