Awakening

Over the next few weeks, I would join Firtha during studies and I had adapted pretty well. I also became friends with two faes Elowen and Elyria. After seeing that I was able to keep up and didn't delay their studies, Aes sídhe finally had a good face towards me. He would usually look at me as if I owed him debts in millions.

The guards who went on patrol at the edge of the forest came back and Firtha introduced me to Azarya. The head guard and her childhood friend. They weren't as close as they used to be though.

It was a day to my birthday and Firtha was planning how we should celebrate. I wanted a small party. Preferably just the four of us. But she wanted a huge celebration where the whole village would be invited.

We agreed on something in between. Just invite the people around our age and have dinner.

We spent the whole day preparing and when night came, we said our goodbyes.

I took a shower and lay on my bed, my breathing evened out not long after.

When the moon was high in the sky I woke up. I was extremely uncomfortable, there was a stirring in me which I couldn't ignore no matter how hard I tried. I heard a faint call and unconsciously moved in that direction. It was like my body wasn't my own . I had no control over it anymore.

The night was dark and the pale silver light of the moon shone down. I kept walking towards the voice. Without knowing how I got there, I stood in a glittering room. It was like the stars had fallen down and gathered in this room. It was empty except for a crystal lyre right in the middle. I walked towards it. It had intricate markings and swirling patterns on it. The starheart seren

I had learned about it previously in one of the history teachings. This was made by the first fae queen. It's frame was made from starheart ore, a very rare silver-blue metal only found in the heart of Verdigris. It had gotten harder and harder to find in recent years. The strings were made with the finest moonbeam threads. It was made to soothe the mind and cleanse the soul of any evil.

I couldn't control my movements as I stretched my hand and plucked the strings. Something seemed to have been set free inside me as magic gushed out from my body and circled around me in the form of white particles. I opened my palm and the white light moved there and swirled around. It was like what Firtha had shown me before. It looked exceptionally beautiful.

Just then I heard a call behind me

"Halt!"

Azarya was standing in front of a buch of people with his staff pointed at me.

I looked behind him to see half of the fae population looking at me then simulatiously their eyes moved to my hands. I could see the shock on all their faces. Even I was surprised. Firtha walked forward hesitantly

"Aadvitha ?"

"Firtha"

"What's going on?"

"I don't know. I was sleeping when someone started calling me and I couldn't ignore it so I followed the voice and it brought me here. I don't even know which way I came"

At this time, the prince(not-king-king) finally showed up . He gauged the situation and then told Azarya to escort all the faes back to their homes while I was to follow them. Along the way Aes sídhe had joined us and when he looked at me, his eyes held a faint glint.

I clenched my fists tightly and then felt someone slip their fingers into mine. She smiled comforting and mouthed

"It will be fine. Don't worry"

We got to the princes house and the other elders were there already. The atmosphere was solem as we all made our way into the meeting room.

"Firtha go get the elders some tea."

This was obviously her cue to leave. She pat me on the shoulders and walked out closing the door behind her.

At this time everyone's attention was on me. The fae king didn't waste any time and started his questioning.

"Who are you and what is your purpose?"

"I am Aadvitha, as you all know. As for my purpose, I have no purpose. I am but a servant rescued by the princess as repayment for an earlier act of kindness"

"Then how do you explain your magic?"

"I don't know. I always thought I was a mere human until today"

"And what is so special about today?"

"I don't know - if it helps, it's my eighteenth birthday today"

"And how is that supposed to help? Faes have their magic from birth."

A low voice then interjected from the side

"Not unless someone sealed her magic"

Everyone turned to look at elder Aes sídhe and he smiled

"It would be weird for her to suddenly gain magic powers but if her powers had been sealed as a baby then everything would make sense. And we all know there's only one person who is capable of doing that"

Everyone turned to me again and murmurs filled the room

"They do look alike"

"When I first saw her I was taken aback by the resemblance"

"I could almost swear they were related but because she didn't have any powers I forgot about it"

The prince banged his hand on the table

"Enough!"

The chattering stoped immediately.

He put his elbow on the table and pinched the place between his eyes.

He brought out a box and placed it on the table and motioned for me to come over.

Inside the box was a delicate looking transparent ball. It was plain and dull.

He gave me a small dagger.

"Make a small cut on your hand and drip it on the ball"

I took the dagger and slashed at my arm and placed it over the ball. The whole room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Three drops on blood fell on the ball and disappeared like though it had been absorbed. The would then healed itself. My hand was back to normal. As if there had been no injury in the first place.

The ball started to glow a faint white light and it grew bit by bit until it became almost blinding .

There were some sounds of awe

"Even more impressive than that person was back then"

The prince placed the ball back in the box and closed the lid

"As shown here, she has royal bloodline and very pure light magic. Ther has only been three cases where the color of magic was white. One of them was the fae queen, the other was my... sister and the third, her. What do you think is the reason for this?"

"Sire, everyone here should have a clear understanding of who her parents are right?"

"Let's not jump into conclusions "

"All of us here saw the state they were in when we got to them. That could only have been caused by- by him"

"And she does look a lot like them"

"No more. We will do an ancestry test to find out for sure. Let's disperse for now"

All the elders went out one after each other and the prince turned to leave without sparing me another glance.

Touché

Firtha came into the room and pounced on me

"What did they say?"

"Apparently we my love, are kissin' cousins. I have royal blood as well. Who knew?"

She squealed and hugged me tighter

"This is so great. I've never had a sister before."

"Okay okay. Let me go now. I was in the middle of sleeping before that happened. I need to go back and rest now. We'll talk more tomorrow"

I went back to my treehouse and pondered the events of this night. A fae. And a royal one at that. Too bad the original owner wasn't able to experience this. She was killed a few months before her eighteenth birthday. She died always thinking she was human . I tried not to think about these things anymore. Tomorrow was sure to be a long day. I needed to get enough rest.

Across the land in another territory, a young man sprang up from bed and held his still pounding head in his hands. Mom... Dad....

Sister.

Short chapter, sorry . I'm so tired .
