Dena was feeling down from today's event. When she snapped at Edwin's mother, she sensed there was a dangerous beast inside her trying to free himself. She was concerned that someday she would lose control and become a wolf. In the book, Mason constantly struggles to suppress his desire to turn. Noah's always been the one to help him with his unique phenomenal scent. It was a sweet-floral fragrance with hints of spice and pine that would soothe Mason. He would release it subconsciously when his Alpha was in distress. At the end of the plot, Mason marked Noah permanently and formed a link between them that no one could ever sever. Thanks to that, Mason had finally found peace. This book describes how Noah healed Mason's emotional trauma and helped him get revenge on his enemies. He was like an angel descending from heaven just for Mason. 'Why did he do that? Because he was his mate or had an incredible bond with him?'
Dena read that book to pass the time. She didn't believe in anyone going that far because of love. According to the plot, Her condition didn't look good. She and Noah were not attracted to one another. She did not know whether or not she had transmigrated after his 10th death. She could end up dead in the next moment. She didn't even know how Mason ended up over at those times. 'Why did the book fail to describe past events?'
Dena hypothesised that the book she'd read was the second volume. She remembered in the comments section, someone mentioned that she had seen a book with similar content but a lousy ending. Mason died there alone and miserably. Not that in this version, Mason did not suffer enough from his shitty life. But that version was utterly disastrous.
Noah glanced at Edwin, who looked increasingly gloomy with every passing moment. He thought about how to cheer him up when he saw Edwin stop suddenly. He turned around to see three people arguing.
"Noah, look, your ex-boyfriend is fighting again, and the funniest part is that my friend is his opponent."
Dena chuckled at this scene. They lighted on her gossiping nature.
"Let's take a look at this exciting drama."
Dena grabbed his hands and eagerly brought him there.
Noah was fascinated by his rapidly changing mindset.
" Desmond, what trouble are you making again?"
Three people heard Edwin's mocking voice. They paused and turned towards him slowly.
Desmond was glad to see an ally, so he threw himself at Edwin for a hug.
"Look, older brother; they're harassing me for being generous to them."
Desmond said in wailing. Dena reflexively caught and stared at him, acting like an aggrieved daughter-in-law. 'Am I your husband? Why are you complaining about them to me?'.
Noah sensed a headache coming soon. He thought he would never see Liam and Jack. He didn't want them picking on Edwin. However, before he could figure out what to do, Jack, who recognised Edwin at first sight, rushed to his side and opened his mouth to speak but was shocked by Noah's presence.
Dena was busy removing that octopus from herself when she saw Jack frozen, standing there with a wide open mouth like a fish out of the corner of her eyes. Dena couldn't hold back the laughter. Her laugh broke down the stiff atmosphere. All the boys were spellbound by his smiling face. They thought it was too beautiful and dangerous for their shaky hearts. They should not let other people see it.
"Oh, you finally laughed. I missed it."
Desmond spoke in a muffled voice and embraced her again.
Dena wasn't sure what happened. 'Why are you so touchy? The first time I met you, you were so displeased with me that you scolded and left, but now you are all over me?'
Liam was in no mood to be tangled with Noah and his new boyfriend, so he took Jack's arm and pulled away to leave, but Jack was unwilling to let this chance encounter with Edwin go to waste. Jack lost his balance and landed backwards in the middle of their struggle. He thought his head would crash into the hard ground, but he hit the firm chest and fell into Edwin's embrace instead. Jack was dazed for half a day. Dena did not know how, but she found herself next to Jack when she saw him stumble. Noah and Desmond were perplexed by his swiftness.
Liam could not move an inch. He was stunned by the outcome of the events. He panicked and tried apologising to Jack, but his voice was stuck by the terror he felt when Jack fell.
" Are you okay? Could you stand up? "
Dena asked softly. Jack looked at his gentle eyes and swallowed his saliva with difficulty. He thought the boy had bewitched him. He had this strong desire to get close to him.
He even left behind his ulterior motives to momentarily get into Edwin's good book. For the first time, he had a genuine interest in someone.
Desmond was impatient with Jack's behaviour. He had suffered so much from his doing and said coldly.
" For how long do you want to cling to my brother? Last night, weren't you the one who wouldn't let me go? Now you switched your target? "
Jack jumped out of Edwin's arms. His base of ears was red from shyness and embarrassment.
Dena glanced at Desmond with a knowing smile.' Are you jealous that I took Jack in my arms, but do you talk like that? Tsk. What a tsundere!'
Noah was a little upset. Everyone forgot he was standing here.
' Hey Jack, didn't you have animosity with me over Liam? How about the other boy? Aren't you curious who am I? ' This wouldn't do. He should flunk his presence in their faces.
He grasped Edwin's hand and spoke timidly.
"Little brother, is that a friend of yours? How could he be with the one who had an affair with my ex-boyfriend?"
Dena got goosebumps. ' Who is your brother? I am your older sister. I am about 20 years mentally older than you. Okay? And this boy is the one that scum talked about before? The so-called kind friend? Desmond, you idiot, how did you associate yourself with this green tea?'
Dena berated them in her head. She stared at Desmond sternly and waited for him to take the initiative to explain what was going on here.
When Desmond heard what this shy boy said, he thought he was genuinely unlucky these days. He wanted to cry but had no tears. He was innocent. Okay?! Desmond hurriedly clarified.
"Some hooligans assaulted him, and I helped him. That's it. He's got nothing to do with me. Don't misunderstand."
He didn't want this boy with glasses to have a wrong impression of him. It's him that changed Edwin from a robot to a human being.
Dena nodded in understanding and turned to retake a look at Jack. At first glance, he didn't seem like a bad guy. She was still unaware of the boy's name. Perhaps he was a character in the book. That's why she asked. " What's your name?"
Jack replied right away.
" It's Jack Sanders. My family operates in the mining industry."
Dena's eyes went wide open. ' He is one of the villains in the book?'
When Kaveh emerged as the dominant omega, many people with different lineages, like Jack, were attracted to him. His ancestors were werewolves who went in hiding from hunters and witches because their blood possessed a rare ability to neutralise the madness of losing their pheromones or their mates. He was a dishonest person with a lot of money but no influence. He gained Kaveh's trust, but his family wasn't strong enough to face those forces in the capital, and their family business was suppressed. He lost everything. Thus he blackened utterly. He preferred to destroy Kaveh with his hand and not offer him to his enemies.
Mason tried to protect his brother and clashed violently with Jack. Initially, it wasn't bad, but Jack suddenly became powerful. Apparently, in one of their mines, they found some scarce items that could affect the powerful families of the capital. They dreaded Jack in their hearts. Therefore, they carried favour with him to end any enmity between them. But this move backfired. Jack couldn't care less and then crushed them mercilessly. In the end, he abducted Kaveh and put him in a famous darkroom and did this and that to him. So Mason knew Jack's danger from his multiple regressions but could not go against him. Jack quickly approached his brother each time despite his constant warnings to Kaveh. Mason even allied with those powerful forces, but it was in vain. Until Noah came to his aid, he found Jack's weakness and got rid of him.
Dena had this strong urge to escape from this cunning boy.
