Rest

I propped my face up with my hand. What am I going to do now? I'm not ready yet, but I'm going to have to continue. I don't want to feel so weak in front of Kol again. I don't want to look so weak in front of her again. I hate this. A black nail strained my cheek's skin, but I just leaned into it more. I just want to ignore everything, and sometimes pain's good for that.

I heard a soft click, and I glanced over. Kol had a neutral expression on, but some shock could still be found. She collected herself quickly, though. A small smile appeared on her face, " Good afternoon, Sindra."

I gave her a strained smile. I don't want to remember. "Yes, good afternoon Kol." I saw her pause in her steps, her brows furrowed in thought. I waited for a bit before her brows gently relaxed. She swiftly moved towards the counter and prepared the drinks. A few more moments, and here I am, sitting with a cool cup of water. Lovely.

I looked down, staring at my own reflection in the water. Everything looked so blurry except for my glowing eyes. They looked eerie, they looked dead. "I suppose I should-"

"Sindra, how have you been?" I looked up, feeling a bit of confusion from Kol's words.

"I-I've been fine." My voice stuttered a little from my confusion. Why is she asking this now? I think it's a little too late for greetings.

"No, really, how have you been." She looked kind of stern and kind at the same time, which felt really weird. I've never thought someone could look so stern and welcoming. It's... interesting. It's also weird why she seems so insistent.

"I don't really understand. Can I continue?" And for some reason, I felt kind of annoyed. She gave me this sort of unimpressed look.

"Sindra, I can tell you aren't ready to tell me yet."

"What do you mean?" I felt almost indignant.

"You know what I mean. So just tell me how you've been. Truthfully." I looked into her eyes, before glancing back down. I clenched at the cup a little.

"I've been fine. It's been the usual." I mumbled out my words, but they had this sort of hateful, forcefulness. I waited for her to ask again, but I waited for silence. I looked up. She didn't respond. She just kind of looked at me in this neutral way. She lightly nodded her head.

"That's good..." Looking at her, I almost wished she asked me again. How hypocritical of me. Why am I like this? "Sindra, I don't think you're ready to talk just yet. Take more time to recover, okay?"

I stared at her, feeling a little hurt, but I know that this is probably for the best. I clenched the cup a little harder, before relaxing my grip again. "... I... Yes, I agree I need more time." I stood up, straightened out my coat, and started to walk towards the door. " I'll see you next wee-"

"Ah, Sindra, could you wait for a while? I need to give you something." I paused and turned back around. Kol entered a door on the far left of the room. It's probably her official office room. This one served more like a therapy one. After a while, she came back out again. This time, however, she was holding this small, brown bag. Wait, isn't that...?

"What is this?" Annoyance laced my voice.

"It's the coins you gave me last time. You gave me too much. I used enough to repair the room, but I don't need the rest of these."

"I don't need it back. Keep it."

"No, I don't want them. I'd rather you keep it."

"Just think of it as a gift for dealing with my crap." I turned around to leave. I felt a hand grasp my shoulder. I glanced around and felt something getting shoved in my hand.

"Alright, bye. See you next week!" Kol pushed me out the door, which was opened with her magic, and waved me goodbye. The door slammed before I could even react. For a while, I couldn't comprehend what happened. Who doesn't want free money?

A soft chuckle broke free from my throat at the ridiculousness of Kol's actions, and I started to walk away. Guess I'll pay Lilliana an early visit. She probably won't mind.
