The awakening ceremony(2)

Calvin was mesmerized by the woman's angelic voice and he flimsily started to doze off while looking in empty space.

He felt warm and secure just by hearing the tone of her voice but it was all stopped by a loud, high pitch ringing that made him block his ears.

'Aarrgh! What is this...'

His hands did not have that much of an impact on the ringing, as if it was directly in his head, and his mind progressively blurred as his vision went black.

*Paf, boom, paf*

One by one, freshmen started to fall to the ground.

The area was now filled with individuals laying on the ground. They all looked to be sleeping. Some with a more relaxed face than others.

The woman who made all this happen was a second year teacher who's trait was quite powerful. [Sound manipulation]. If it was of a lower tier ,like F or E, the trait could've only change the user's voice or induce a small pain to the eardrum. But at a higher level, the user has the ability to change their voice to sound appealing to others and even cause confusion. Or, in this case, send a couple hundred students to sleep.

Since some people already awakened their traits because of their families' reputation, some students could hold on for longer against the teacher's trait. But in the end, they all fell on the ground, like their peers.

The teacher, now looking down on every newcomers, clapped her hands.

Immediately, a dozen of school staff, with heavy bags, appeared.

-"Thank you all for helping me, this year again, for this step of the process."

Her voice had regained it's angelic tone, and a big smile stretched on her face.

The school employees that appeared didn't move much and started to talk to each other while waiting.

-"Even though I see it every year, it still sends chills down my spine!" said a female employee in a low voice.

--"It's creepy, yes, but at least she's on our side if anything is to ever happen. That voice is a weapon in and out of itself. They say she managed a C tier gate by herself with only this ability fully grown..."

The two suddenly stopped their gossiping when a loud rumbling noise could be heard from the end of the yard. The two big metal gates that separated the school from the outside opened up by themselves to let a truck pass through.

In the truck, two men in imposing armor were driving and making sure to transport their products safely.

The van stopped moving and made an usual steamy noise.

The two delivery guys then went out of the truck toward it's back.

While there, one of the guys made a key appear out of thin air and used it to unlock the rear door.

Inside the truck was a metallic circled shaped device with gems embedded on it's side.

They took out the device and, slowly, made their way to the middle of the yard where they gently put it down.

Once it was done, one of them went back to the vehicule where he took a toolbox and returned to the device, in the middle of the yard.

In the meantime, the other delivery man, who was also the one who made the key appear, went up on the stage where he met the second year teacher.

-"As usual we will finish setting up the gate. It will take you to the base we set up in Cadavun. You will have forty-eight hours to do your testing and we will come back to shut the gate after."

The man said all that in a monotone and robotic voice, since he was used to repeat the same details every time he completed a delivery.

-"Oh, you're so nice! Would you like to come with me to that base after the forty-eight hours, hmm?"

The woman asked the man while putting her hands on his shoulder.

The man shrugged her hands off him and made a contract and a pen appear.

-"$500k for the location, plus another $350k as insurance for the gate, if you give it back in good condition it will be reimbursed to you. You can sign at the bottom of the contract."

He handed the pen and the contract to her and when she finished signing and returned them back, he made them re-disappear as fast as he materialized them before.

-"That's quite the useful trait, is it not?"

-"Yes."

He then walked down to the gate where his co-worker was.

While the two were signing the contract, the other man was doing some work on the device to make sure it was well calibrated and would work for the right amount of time.

When he made sure all was in order, he nodded to his co-worker and pressed one of the gems, which lit up a vibrant orange colored portal.

They then both returned to the truck where they closed the doors and hopped in, to finally drive away.

-"Now that the gate is ready, you can all start the procedures."

The dozen of staff members started to take out needles, filled with a light blue liquid, from their bags.

They approached the students one by one and injected them with it. This was a sleeping liquid that could knock out someone for one to seven days easily depending on the dose.

When all the students were medically put to sleep, the staff grabbed a couple of movable beds to move the students from the yard to the base on Cadavun.

The pair of staff members that gossiped earlier approached Calvin with the bed. They put it down, took Calvin's legs and arms, and on the count of three, placed him onto it's surface.

They then went toward the gate and entered it.

On the other side of the gate was another device which looked to be the same as the one in the school.

They were transported through it and into what looked like a big underground reinforced metal box with desks and station all over.

At the base, around fifty staff members were stationed. Some are sitting at desks with papers while others are preparing a mana device which will be used for awakening.

The students who were transported were being placed in normal bunk beds that took half the space of the base.

When all the freshmen had been transported through the gate, the second year teacher went in the portal.

She replaced her hair a bit and ordered, in the same beautiful voice as before, with a glint of joy in her eyes:

-"You can now all start the awakening process!"
