Toxic Hearts

I stared at the alter deep in thoughts, when I heard the trumpet. Sudden silence all over the church, you could hear a pin drop. The sound of footsteps, his footsteps; echoed around the place. I looked away from the floor i'd already spent 5 minutes studying, and saw a man, if not an angel; staring intently at me. He had the most beautiful gray eyes, like a void you could get sucked into if you looked at for just even a second; and for some reason I didn't want to look away. The most pale and beautiful skin I had ever seen, and that beautiful dark ash coloured hair that graced his already stunning face. I was crossed on whether he looked like an angelic devil or a devilish angel.

He called my name.

Then a knight came over to escort me to a beautiful carriage where the king and I would ride on. The carriage was adorned with intricate golden filigree and sparkling gemstones, catching the sunlight and casting a magical glow, the carriage itself was made with polished wood, carved with delicate patterns and embellished with enchanting symbols. The wheels that were crafted with silver, seemed to glide effortlessly on the ground. Inside, plushed velvet seats were adorned with embroidered cushions. The windows were made of stained glass, casting vibrant hues of light across the interior. The entire carriage was fit for royalty.

I entered the carriage and saw the king resting his head. His mere presence alone wanted to make me run out of the carriage, screaming this was all a big mistake.

I was visibly shaken with fear. 'Calm down Aliyah, he's just a human.' I thought, trying to calm myself.

"Tensed?."

I heard a deep and husky voice say, his voice literally made me feel hypnotized.

"Uh!...n-no, my k-king." I said, not able to look at him.

"Then have you just forgotten how to breathe?." He asked, his eyes still closed.

'Oh my!, i'm not breathing. Okay, breathe in, breathe out, in, out.' I said teaching myself how to breathe again. 'I want to cry...'

"Aliya no need to be afraid of me; I don't eat people." He said, trying to make me calm down.

'He called my name.' I thought, my heart pounding hard on my chest.

"Your majesty, we have reached the palace." One of the knights said.

"Hmn..." I yawned silently. The journey was a long one, so I decided to take a little nap.

"Shall we." The king said while holding out his hand. I held him and he helped me down the carriage. What I saw next made me dumbfounded.
