Toxic Hearts

I stared at the alter deep in thoughts, when I heard the trumpet. Sudden silence all over the church, you could hear a pin drop. The sound of footsteps, his footsteps; echoed around the place. I looked away from the floor i'd already spent 5 minutes studying, and saw a man, if not an angel; staring intently at me. He had the most beautiful gray eyes, like a void you could get sucked into if you looked at for just even a second; and for some reason I didn't want to look away. The most pale and beautiful skin I had ever seen, and that beautiful dark ash coloured hair that graced his already stunning face. I was crossed on whether he looked like an angelic devil or a devilish angel.

Bittersweet moments.

It was almost time for me to leave and I had still not told my mother my final goodbyes.

I finally found her sitting in the gazebo; so lost in thoughts that she was not aware of my presence.

"Mother." I called out to her.

She looked towards my direction and smiled beautifully.

"Come hear." She said with outstretched hands. I rushed towards her and gave her a hug.

The weight of the day's event finally hit us both, and tears welled up in our eyes.

"I can't believe I'm married now, it feels like everything has changed." I said, everything still feeling unreal to me.

"It's natural to feel a mix of emotions. I'm proud of you, but it's also hard to see you leave our home. Remember, i'll always be here for you." She said, her voice trembling with emotions.

"I'll miss you so much mother." Tears streamed down my face as I hugged her tightly.

"Hush now!, our bond will remain strong no matter how far we are from each other. Always remember I love you." She said.

We sat together, finding solace in each other's presence, and shared our hopes and fears for the future.

Moments later, it was finally time for me to bid my farewell to the house of Balliol. This beautiful place that had been my home, I had to leave it to a new place I knew nothing about.

'Was this how my older sister felt?' I wondered.

Evelyn Rosekate Balliol, first daughter of the house of Balliol; who ran away at the thought of getting married to an unknown man. The fear of not knowing who you're going to spend the rest of your life with.

"Goodbye Ali, promise me u won't forget me." Kara said, with a bittersweet smile on her face.

"I would never forget you Kara." I responded and hugged her. "If I can, i'll try to come for visits."

"Goodbye my beloved daughter." My mother said, joining in on the hug.

"I love you both so much." I said, hugging them tightly.

Then a knight came over to escort me to a very beautiful carriage where the king and I would ride on.

I entered and saw the king resting his head with his eyes closed. His mere presence alone made me want to turn back and run, screaming this was all a big mistake.

"Tensed?."
