Chapter 23: Harsh Reality
"You were right," Gemma said as Blaze held the door open for her and Fiona. "This place is precious!"
Mama Gianna's was the restaurant Fiona had mentioned earlier and it looked - and smelled very promising. This restaurant was what Gemma would consider a typical American-Italian eatery.
There were black wooden chairs around tables covered with red and white checkered tablecloths. The walls were covered in artwork and chalkboards announcing various specials. Gemma inhaled the garlic aroma in the restaurant hungrily.
"Ciao Bella and welcome to Mama Gianna's," a teenage girl drawled in a bored voice as she approached them. Her demeanor changing from bored to flustered as her eyes landed on Blaze.
"Can we get a table for three please dear?" Fiona asked the girl sweetly.
The young girl picked three menus from the hostess stand without taking her eyes off Blaze. "Please follow me."
